The sheds You got your self marooned on a planet while working on behalf of some cheap ass corporation - you really expect them to give a damn? Of course not, after all they would say it was your fault you couldn't fix their broken systems that caused the accident. But they are not entirely without heart, they at least gave you a bunch of blueprints for some sheds to keep the elements out and o2 in. Barely... You get an empty shed - really cheap to make - and the floor is even marked as to where you should lie down before you asphyxiate. (They think of everything). A basic workshop shed with everything needed to scrape by... for now... A grow shed for those who are really determined to live instead of accepting the inevitable A storage shed - just in case you might actually survive and have something to store For the really determined - a processing shed for all those ores and junk you might find And should you actually make something to get around and collect stuff, then I guess repair facilities, pads, defences etc
Is this true? I have a couple self propelled turret designs I use to protect my SV on the ground. 1 is basically a little hexagon with a seat and turret levitated by repulsors. I know they work sometimes. Thing is, drones miss a lot so they tend to hit the SV anyway. It's a bit time consuming of a setup but my primary SV is just a transport. All CPU is in thrusters. It carts around my HVs harvesters and/or containers and relies on the self propelled turrets for defense. It's more fuel efficient than the CV I use.
Yes it's still true. With a base you can even be at the base but too far from your turrets that they won't do anything, depending on how far you space the turrets out. Turrets only work in a relatively small range around the player. Go too far away from them and they sit completely idle. This combined with the extremely long pauses between turrets actually picking a target are the 2 major issues with turrets currently, IMO.
This is another reason I prefer to use my SV, at least until I have found a pentaxid asteroid or two.
In the case of SVs getting trashed while mining in your HV - typically the player is only 20-50m away, but underground. I have actually stood in the back of my HV (underground) and waited by watching the hud radar and I have heard the SV getting shot at before the red dot appears on the hud radar, so probably a bunch of bugs/issues in play here that all come together to make this rather annoying. Not sure if the drones basically spawn on top of you, or whether they spawn near and fly to you. Yes - and the pauses are annoying - I thought at first it was suffering the same kind of bug as SE does where the turrets just go dead as in bugged, but they seem to eventually come back to life again on their own. I get the same problem on my CV as well - thankfully that has a shield so it can absorb some unanswered incoming fire without taking damage.
Finished the exterior construction of the Zirax Destroyer. Though it still seems to big to me, it may need more paring down. I can always reuse the uncut versions for other ships, so I might as well finish the job. Just started on texture and color.
How did you do those beams of light? Are those cylinder blocks with lit textures and spot light? Some kind of projector magic?
Projector magic. I can think of a lot of uses for this. Such as for power conduits a player may need to reroute or activate for example. Nice to see you around!
Thank you! It is good to see you too Ravien. Have not quite decided if I am going to "be around" yet. We shall see. I noticed that one can finally post BP's to the workshop that have the NPC spawners on them. Maybe I will confine myself to posting on the workshop and this thread; keep things simple. Not sure if this: ... is going to turn into anything yet. Just kinda putting some blocks together. Pattern them/it after the other Abyssal stuff. I am very, very rusty.
Now it has a little hat! Its gonna be terrifying and kill a lot of players, but no sense in not being cute while I am at it. Eh? Eh?
Yes we need more POIs on the workshop! I love the abyssal designs. Plus in alpha 12 you'll be able to use player turrets on them according to the Q&A they did so... abyssal with blue lasers!
It is a little boxy... What to do, what to do... Maybe I will bring the bottom legs up and wrap them to the corners. I have no idea how to do that, but it will be fun to try. Yeah, your Abyssal Plasma Sentries are so fun... and by fun I mean "Horrifying."
I've been on the workshop this week poking around looking at the Space Stations for inspiration. I've tried throwing something together myself but I've either been unhappy with results visually or my build gets way out of hand so I scrap it. I was surprised that I couldn't really find much. There's certainly a few really nice stations submitted but they're generally really huge and Tier 3 or 4. I finally stumbled on a few in the right CPU range and I was really surprised by the NSI 13 Juno Station by Jarvis1563. It has really great functionality for it's size and CPU tier. Plenty of external docking space and I even managed to land my CV on the repair bay due to the way it is positioned. Original https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1918581843 I did some minor rework to the exterior. Mostly just a paint job. I modified the interior quite a bit to suite my needs both aesthetically and to reduce some of the fluff that was draining power imo. There wasn't space for a shield generator so I opened up space in the atrium. Also added switches because I love switches I can easily park all my stuff on the station
Tonight I added some Villages and tribal POIs from the workshop to the new Tropical planet. The only faction found on the planet is Talon, so it's pretty peaceful like the other tropical planet, with a climate that allows growing crops outdoors. I want to add a giant abandoned diamond mine to the planet so there's something to explore.
