Had a double take for a moment on the workshop. Of course I had to subscribe and fav. Love what you did. I think the side mounted turrets look better than my initial draft.

It is really fun to see these finished alternatives to my creation.

Might as well share the pre CPU draft here. There is a reason I had to look twice when I saw some of the images. Now I didn't get a garden in there originally, I actually was building a separate farm CV back then that could also fit through the large hangar doors.

Hello Everybody, I have a temporary link to the updated Karana POI set:
    https://ufile.io/fxokzw7s
This is only a fix for bugged block alignment and textures, and a broken signal logic. All the spawners set to respawn.
Thanks to the more broken features I hit again today I'm no longer plan to work on any more POIs in the future. I'm done, and gone.

I might have to rework it again to slim it down. It won't always go through the 14 x 7 door. Sometimes the front or middle gets stuck. It worked during my testing with turrets before I remodeled it and I don't believe I added any blocks that would inhibit clearance. Not sure what the issue is precisely. Maybe I'm just a bad pilot :) I do have a consistent solution for the motion sensor problem which is to always have an HV docked inside and to ensure you have a proper motion area painted. It's a great hull design and I really appreciate you sharing it. I'm already working on a carrier CV. It's still a bit boxy but I have high hopes that I can shape it up and still have large hangar space. I already have a pass through hangar set up for the nightjar.

Looks good and is certainly a better small starter CV with upgrade space. I should probably do a Lo-Viz version as well. My coloring/texturing is a bit loud. dpburke2's version was unpainted but I imagine he had something more subdued in mind when he started work on it.

I think have had similar issues in the latest experimental with stuff seeming to tangle up way more easily - for eg HVs that used to easily go into the right position to dock with an SV are now proving to be fiddly.

Hit bounds just seem to be badly messed up and somewhat inconsistent - some blocks seem to fully obscure the bounding cube, others seemingly do not (I think flat circular lights don't, sensors and doors do and I think even LCD projectors, and of course so called thin blocks do along with anything retracting). Its all very f******* annoying for ship builders and is the entire reason I gave up trying to make a hangar door friendly CV. I just found it far too frustrating when I am used to Space Engineers where stuff occupies the space you can see it occupy and none of the invisible full bounding cube BS.

Much as like a lot of what is being done in alphas 12, I would happily sacrifice most of to get this kind of crap fixed and working sensibly once and for all. I really don't care about crouching just yet....

I have trouble with exact fits myself, so I tend to avoid them. Which is why the cross-section of the CV is 10 x 5. The challenge was to fit the CV through a 7 x 13 door, just a tad smaller than the 7 x 14 door. Someone else had determined that a CV 11 blocks wide and 5 blocks tall could fit through the door. I would have gone with 10 x 4 to get extra space both ways, but I wanted a minimum of 3 blocks for the hangar, so that meant with 1 block each for ceiling and floor that I used all 5 blocks of height. But there was more to it than that.... When I first started on the Nightjar, it was meant to be part of a series of builds. When they rolled out the official version of CPU, it took a lot of wind out of my motivation. With some harsh sacrifices, I was able to get the Nightjar down to Tier 1 CPU. Initially I was going to scrap the series, but I have lately come to a place where most of the series is getting a complete redo. The Nightjar was the only one that had been as far as long as the epb zipped up and attached with my earlier post. It was also the only one of that series I was actively using in SP. As I had become attached to the Nightjar, it kept the warp drive, HV bay, and a fraction of the cargo capacity. The rest of the series is losing the warp drives. At some point I think I may build a transport CV with warp drive to move those CVs from system to system, thanks to all-to-all docking.

Oh now I can't believe that. Let's look at your name for a bit here. Fractals are infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop.
Now as your the lite version you could be but an echo of yourself.

Spent a little time doing some texture touchups on one of the first POIs I made:

I would perhaps be inclined to think of and create such a faction, but i do not know how to make POI's work. A guide to make such things would be awesome to learn from. Low tech savvy here. Then there's the issue of a faction that only has a CV and bases to rely on ... That is rather silly.
I wonder if there's ever going to be an expansion towards HV's and SV's for AI able to animate. That would be a faction worthy tbh.

Creating a POI is the same as creating a base.
You want the "alien blocks" group. That will contain all the alien spawners and such you will need.

Just replace the core with a Core (NPC). Add some turrets (can be alien turrets from the alien blocks group OR coming in alpha 12 they said player turrets will work too). And add some spawners and configure them in the control panel to spawn the types and numbers of enemies you want.
Add some alien loot containers for loot as you feel appropriate.
And make sure the bottom of your base is completely flat (you can have it built on support columns but they must all touch the same bottom layer essentially).

    That's mostly it. :D

So after two prior iterations of making something to live in that the Xirax might not knock over or just avoid out of embarrassment and not caring for them in the least. I came up with a pretty basic base and have come to the conclusion that paying a per inert block CPU cost stifles any creativity I might muster. This irritates me greatly due to me being Pro CPU back in the day, Still like the idea, however the implementation sucks so far.

Just a Basic... Base. I won't bother texturing it until I see how it fares during a raid.
