I continued my trip through the Galaxy. Found Ice-Pirates and the Ice Asteroid. Than I jumped to the next System only to find a really pretty sight And in full Sunlight as one of the Moons of this Pink Gas Giant... ENDOR the Temperate Forrest Moon. Very Nice! Just to much Wood and Rain for my liking. Next stop, same Sector, I snow Planet where I caught two dumb Drones who tried to knock out the Generators of this Bunker only this time it was a Rocket and a Plasma Drone... After I got all Stuff I needed I finally could spawn my "better" CV. View from the Bridge - looks pretty
Well you could tell Hummel but maybe the MP version and SP version are the same because in the MP I don't think you can build underground
Well didn't do much today other then testing out my starter CV which still works just fine. My starter SV scout. Well to be frank I think I could run faster then it. So for now have scraped and decided to try out one of the default ones and see how they do. My HV hauler is still good to go. My HV Miner well that took some work had to add 2 more generators. Removed the RCS and one harvester box to get one to fit inside and then put the 2nd one on top, between the drills as you almost see. But at least now it works again.
As I can't spawn my empty Space Station - nothing but a Hull - I can only crisscross the Galaxy, exploring Sectors and heading slowly towards Legacy Territory which seems to be the Center of the Galaxy... Small CV could be spawned ON Planet but not in Space...
I've been tinkering with some of my older builds and trying to see if I could update them and get a handle on everything that's changed since I last played. Not happy with CPU or the flight mechanics. I can't seem to make anything under T3 CPU and the flight mechanics are bollocks. Seems like I need to strap really big engines on everything to get any performance out of it. Yaw and roll are anemic at best. Since RCS are useless I've been tinkering with thruster placement thinking if I placed things appropriately I'd get the performance I'm after but it didn't give the results I was looking for. New build on the right. I'll have play with it some more tomorrow.
I've been able to make an underground base, its just been a little more time consuming as I've had to make sure to clear enough space to place the blocks. I've also had to plan a little more carefully since I can't rely on the ceilings being half sunk into the surrounding terrain for structural support. I'm more worried that this will effect bp placement for BA's. I've yet to check, but if blocks can't be underground will it remove those blocks when you place a BA? and if so could your BA collapse on placement, will it just cut out the terrain and leave an ugly gap around your base like it used to for poi's that had basements? I've had to shoot my way into a few basements back in the day cause I didn't mind the gap! XD With luck I'm worrying at nothing and they'll place like they used to, but all the wrecked structures I've found in my sp playthrough so far have been sitting on top of the ground instead of partially buried like I'd expect them to be.
For some reason, you now can't "bury" blocks as deeply in terrain anymore. It works sometimes, but sometimes you have to dig out the place you want to place the block. It shouldn't affect placing blueprints underground, only when manually placing a block in an area with terrain. You can still build underground, as long as you dig out the terrain a little more.
I'm supposed to be working on the desert series of zirax POIs, but got sidetracked by Polaris ocean POIs today. If it seems like i'm doing all the factions these days, it's because I am. There's no one else left, or at least as active as me. So the first thing I did was the ocean planet version of the Agri-Station. Which I gotta say is better than the temperate version. It floats on the water so it's not stuck on tiny islands with nothing but empty ocean between them that could be better spent on Talon or Zirax (though i'll probably do floating Talon Boat Villages at some point too). Since it floats in the water, I took advantage of the water mechanics to produce unique, functioning farms that incorporate the water into their design. Ahax Coral Farms. The second, third and fourth POIs for it are some generic Polaris defense emplacements designed to float on the water. Ocean's not a hard planet type, so there's no need to cover them in guns or give them shields. Added bonus is that they work on any planet with water, though I wouldn't recommend using them in lava. Lava gets its own type of defense. Both the Agri-station and Hydrobots are browned and rusted on their underside because seawater is bad for metal. The pontoons aren't rusted since they're plastic. They get seaweed and moss stuck to them instead.
Let's hope you don't get your color schemes mixed up Well it looks like your doing great! Hang in there!
I Wish I could do even 1/10th of what you guys do. I still feel like I playing with logs and building blocks from when I was a kid! My builds are so blocky and the colors and textures I use make my things looking like they belong in a 50's movie. I keep expecting Buck Roger's to walk out of my CV's
Alpha 12 really expands how you can play this game now. I tried skipping the early survival part and spawn in a CV with an SV and HV. It's not any easier to maintain your ship and pick fights with Zirax ships and bases. Plus we have a whole galaxy to explore now. Just another way to play game now since we have a whole Galaxy to explore now.
One of the possible "rewards" from a class 3 exploration site found in class G star systems: It's the Avalon Freighter by Tsukasa, though slightly more beat up and filled with uncommon and rare ore loot.
