Started remaking the intro missions for my scenario. Here is the view from the bridge of the UCHN Discovery research vessel, in orbit around the gas giant Alpha I.
Working some more on the player starting missions in my scenario. Added a tutorial NPC for teleporters to the UCH Research Vessels: The research vessel UCHN Pathfinder, performing maintenance at some solar charging arrays in close orbit to the red dwarf star in the Epsilon starting system:
Since A12 i am working on an aircraft carrier style CV. Currently working on the bridge/cockpit/cic section and toying around with the holoscreens and signals. Yes, this is switching on/off. I guess i´ll have the whole frame to a different projector to get it nice looking. Quite tedious but also quite rewarding. Also the space needed... EDIT: Also i am pretty sure there is an easier way, i just once again, have no clue what i am doing.
The best option I found when trying to get a solid looking frame / right border is to use the <indent=xx> tag, either as a fixed number or a percentage (not 100%). So for a 0.5x0.5 screen repeating <indent=45>|</indent> at the end of each line. For bigger screen sizes just increase the number until they line up with where you want them The indent is treated as an absolute position, so if a line is too long can actually cause it to overlap and appear with 2 characters in 1 space, but so long as the text per line is short enough to not overlap the right hand border will always appear in the same place regardless of characters/spaces on that line. Edit: to get the lines to join up vertically, you can set <line-height=1> across the whole screen, then leave empty lines (with just the left/right border) between your actual content so it doesnt overlap, so reduces the space between each | character and forms a solid line to match the top/bottom, so something along the lines of Code: <line-height=1> --------------------- |<indent=45>|</indent> |<indent=45>|</indent> | Gravity <indent=20>ON</indent> <indent=45>|</indent> |<indent=45>|</indent> |<indent=45>|</indent> | Planet Def <indent=20>ON</indent> <indent=45>|</indent> |<indent=45>|</indent> |<indent=45>|</indent> --------------------- </line-height> Screenshot for a similar screen with borders https://empyriononline.com/attachments/upload_2020-4-13_15-43-2-png.73081/ - taking a screenshot at an angle to the screen gives some slight juddering but when viewed straight on in game it appears as a solid straight line
When you´re just happy you beat the level 1 monster and the level 10 comes around the corner... Very usefull nonetheless, just had to wrap my head around it. This is what i got so far. Not sure about the colors though.
Let's see... today I made a new Polaris housing POI. Simple enough to throw together now that i've made a variety of modules with different interiors; of which I made 3 new ones for this. I also overhauled two older ships into patrol vessels for the pirate faction.
Unexpected use for my hangar bay, snuggling to a Zirax trading station. The whole lower part is completely unprotected so you can just swoop in and loot some stuff. NPCs on the upper levels either pop out of existance or give no loot, the trader ones at least. Then i got swarmed by those insectodroids and had to bugger off.
What did I do today ... took a break from playing for a bit to do some creative writing ... Galaxy News from the Galactic Gazette Top Story: Missing Pilot - Desertion, Defection, or Dereliction of Duty. The commander of one of humanity’s last Titan class destroyers has gone missing. Shortly after landing planet side from a six month space tour, the commander returned to his vessel and took off in the direction of the Andromeda system. Sources close to the commander say that alcohol consumption may have something to do with his actions as no beer for his previous six months in space may have altered his cognitive thinking ability. Witnesses say the commander downed six beers, three shots of whisky, half a bottle of scotch, and a kamikaze with a little pink umbrella before uttering “@!%$& parasaurs” and stomping out of the bar. More on this story as it develops. Breaking News from Andromeda … Terror on the Tundra. It seams the locals are up in arms about a renegade endangering the wildlife. Several herds of local wildlife have been found slaughtered on the tundra, their bodies stripped of all meat, teeth, and body parts. Some believe this is the work of a local legend meant to scare children into behaving, but eye witnesses say the perpetrator was human and kept screaming something about “@!%$& parasaurs”. The Polaris Mining Corporation has promised the natives they will investigate the matter thoroughly and the Zirax Counsel state they have no knowledge of the cause, although inside sources state the Zirax have posted a bounty for parasaur skins. Stay tuned for more developments. Social Column: Interview with a Merc. Interviewer: So what led you into work as a Mercenary? Merc: Beer. Interviewer: Um … beer? You mean you work for beer? Merc: No. Got drunk and buddies sold me to the Mercs for more beer. Interviewer: Ah, so it was a set of unfortunate circumstances. Merc: No, they didn’t circum …. um, circums … um, no, they didn’t cut nuthin’ off, they just sold me to the Mercs. Interviewer: Ah … yes, well …. Let’s continue. So, what do you find most satisfying about being a Merc. Merc: No rules, no laws. It's a free life ... which reminds me … have you noticed that all the meat looks alike? Interviewer: All the meat? No. No, can’t say that I have. Merc: Well, it does. Insect meat. Worm meat. Alien meat. It all looks and tastes the same. Interviewer: Well, that’s very interesting. I’m sure someone will do an expose’ on that subject in the future. Merc: Hey, I wonder if human meat tastes the same … Interviewer: Now back to our line of questioning regarding the lifestyle of a merc … What? Human meat? You’re not serious? Merc: Space is a hard life and it’s all about survival. Ya gotta take what you can get. Interviewer: That’s disgusting! You’re crazy! Merc: What did you say? Interviewer: Um … nothing. I was just musing what our readers would say. Merc: Hmmm … I getting tired of this interview. Time to get something to eat. Interviewer: Hey! What are you doing with that knife … SECURITY! Tell Polaris to come get their employee … HURRY!!!! More stories from the Galactic Gazette soon ….
2nd Start, 2nd Day on Arid Planet. reached with ease, because of millions of Plants available, level 10 collecting what killed Desert Golems sh......g ore into their pants when facing the business end of my shotgun. I spawned in my not complete HV Currus, a T2 L10 with a good seized Harvest and Loot Container (1875/5165). It sports even a Clone Chamber and a Med Station. Took it for lawn mowing into Zirax and Polaris Zones. Noticed that Pol Turrets still fire at Desert Golems (Aln) while the aggressive Night creatures remain unharmed.
Did a survival test of the new Dead2 starting planet to make sure it was survivable. Used all hard difficulty settings with mass/volume and CPU on. View from the escape pod: This is fine: Scattered around you can find various ruins to salvage: And some of them might have secret basements: A lone dead tree, a very rare sight on this planet. Usually you have to get plant fibers from salvaging grow plots: I find a ruined solar farm. Is it a relic from before the cataclysm? Or did desperate survivors build this after? Nobody seems to be home so I'll use it as my home base for now: I'm able to get a core made and the base starts charging with the last bit of light. I put down a water generator in a nearby lake of icky red water, and I cheat by using the tent to sleep through the night before hypothermia sets in.
A dead planet with solar power? Sign me up! Looking awesome. Testing vanilla for alpha 12 reminds me again why I like Project Eden so much...
Yea :/ but the idea of a start where you have a limited amount of time to build/repair a ship before **** hits the fan in a really bad way on a dead world with very little resources sounds like it would be alot of fun.
Can you imagine if thats what they did in the movie? Would have been funny as hell lol. Maybe one day we will be able to make it happen o:
A two funny Moments while Exploring my Starter Planet: Several Droids cooling, one after another, their Joints in a small lake while the Troop Commander gets a bit uneasy watching it ...and this was a Turkey shoot with several Groups of Zirax and me hunting Desert Golem
Today I just happened to be passing by a Polaris complex in my little HV when I saw a Golem come lumbering over a ridgeline near me. I just had time to think "I hope they don't shoot..." when: So yeah, first death on an otherwise fairly cruisy start. Killed by my honoured friends...
