Playing around more with the galaxy generation. I'm going to need to make some more factions to add to fill up some of these star clusters with custom content.
Decided to put together a small shuttle to go with the POD Freighter Set (all still a WIP). Also worked on the Freighter's Bridge design a bit.
Well I had an interesting day today. Started a brand new game didn't care for the temperate start so went back to the swamp start. I'm not playing with m&v on or my game would be really slow. Anyways the only perk I gave myself was spawning in HX1 @Khazul 's mining HV. Had to make enough fuel just so I had 5 mins to make a sniper rifle and ammo. Other wise it just sat there like a lump of steel I was more worried about getting my suit made. But at last I did have my camp setup. Used the old chain saw to get more wood until I had enough for about 20 mins worth of fuel and then went saw crazy! Cut down as many trees as I could. Started getting more fuel made. WOOT! Mining time. Iron and Copper was around but no silicon. I now have a 1K tunnel in the stone bedrock to collect enough. Once I was done I converted it to silicon. Started my blueprint and I waiting for it to build. I went back to making fuel. Not a bad looking ship I would say Tomorrow I will get enough fuel in this brand new scout and see what else is around me. As it's close to tea time. I will relax for the rest of the day.
Things I do today... Got in my Heavy Recon SV...took me Ages to gather all the Stuff. And while discovering all kind of POI on this DEAD Planet and collecting stuff... my Farm has grown so I can now pick plant and craft Food. Now to the more complicated Task to construct a CV...
Restarted on temperate Oddly this happened to me too: Decided to hand build wherever I ended up digging for something first: The original hole in the ground for some copper (now under the solar panels) And carried on digging until: I think I dig out a bit too much - not sure what to put in here There is space for shields and other bits, but due to concrete block count CPU is already maxed at T3
Day 2 of Reforged test A12. I lost my repaired hoverbike to some buggy drones. I left the ones from the teleporter station trap since I had nothing to hit them with and came back after i'd built my base and gotten some guns to about 12 of them patrolling the crashsite. 4 buggered off somewhere and didn't come back, I killed 2 that were off on their own, then the remaining 6 decided they didn't like me. I took down 3 before I got overran and then discovered that the damn bastards are a bunch of spawncamping cheaters. I'd seen a few reports of this happening in A12 and at first I thought the game was being stupid by selecting the spot underneath the drones as a safe spawn location. After a few unavoidable deaths I discovered that during the time it takes to load the respawn screen, the drones were already moving to my spawn location before i'd even selected to spawn there. So there was no escape. I respawned at a "local" trade station about 4km away and within 7 minutes those 3 drones turned up there somehow and pinned me inside the trade station. I managed to kill one with a goddamn survival tool (that should be a steam achievement) when he landed on the roof and the other two eventually gave up and went back to the crashsite after 5 or so minutes without contact. I had a mining HV (Bulldog Miner prefab) ready to go in the factory, so I made some biofuel, spawned it and went on home to replace my tools and weapons. Shortly after, I was digging up ore deposits with my miner for an SV. Sticking to prefabs, so it's the Maverick this time (Rocket Racer prefab). Aside from being a few points over the CPU limit, these two work fine as-is without any alterations but the Maverick is heavy so it moves and handles like an aircraft instead of a drone. Which is a huge improvement for gameplay. Tomorrow, i'll hopefully be heading to the moon for magnesium for the Maverick's rocket launchers. One improvement of RG is that the SV rocket launcher doesn't require neodymium and cobalt, but the ammo still requires you to at least go to the moon. I also need cobalt for the Flamethrower, which will be very useful against nightmares. I'm going slow to test all the changes I can find. I've found very few problems, most noticeable is that the Usain Bolt problem wasn't just limited to shotgun zirax. It's alien assassins now too, who when they go to charge you they move fast. Really, insanely fast.
Maybe I didn't read the mission stuff well enough, and I happen to have a sniper rifle by this time, but I wonder if this mission needs to give a bit of a hint to be well armed (maybe not say it outright, but perhaps steer player toward getting at least an assault rifle). I can imagine a n00b having a bit of a rage quite over something like this - funny though GZ on the survival tool drone kill - its really hard as the bastards usually back off out of range
Note to self - remember to switch my base turrets to not shoot animals.... This is what happens when you base turrets decide to suddenly unload on a random dinosaur just as you are flying past and you happen to be in its line of fire - ugh! Completely gutted the ship. There is a huge hole in the ground that I guess is whats left of whatever it was shooting at. And the offending turret: Scared the figgin life out of me. One moment flying back to base, next instant dead and the ship is a wreck. The original ship: And no - not made of plastic - made of steel.
So I raid the ALN Bunker ... first time I've done this POI ... OMG, tons of loot. Needed 192 Neodymium to send my L12 fighter to the factory ... how many did I get ... 191 ... NOOOOOooooooo!!! .... Oh well, there's daylight left and another ALN POI that needs my loving attention ...
Heh - I hated those fekin trains as well Get worse when you have that electric train mod as they go much faster
**** - nearly happened again from the other turret - I think I figured out what is happening now: Because the active area of interest is so tiny in this game, then while flying stuff spawns really close, so close that it might spawn nearly underneath me causing the turrets to instantly react if I am close to them as well. This time a near miss, but still heard the impact explosion really loud, so it was certainly very close again - ugh! Edit: couple of minutes later:
Yeah, well, I never really got too far. I kinda always quit due to not being able to come up with good designs for later stuff and being too damn proud to copy other blueprints... even though I eventually yielded a bit on the blueprint side, I always chickened out without sending even a one rocket. Btw, have you considered the turrets on your base can be set up as to not shoot at predators? I thing killing animals with rockets atc is kinda overkill...
No such thing as overkill - can never have enough guns I always forget to switch them (could have sworn I had set that up when I saved the blueprint… guess not). Still kinda funny the end result - them nailing everything that moves
