Well I would like to - but 50+ trips back and forth to unload a days worth of collection and I gave up on that idea - so I use the shuttle CV to do the rounds. For the ore however I was vaguely thinking of a little base with a teleporter, furnace/constructor and a small hangar (perhaps even underground entrance so I don't need much defence), so I could teleport there, jump in an SV (with huge cargo capacity - 16K+) to do the rounds on that part of the planet, chuck it all in the furnace and from there to factory.
Hey Again Everyone! I have put a solid chunk of hours into refining that vessel I posted on here a few days ago. Here is the result: ~DKU~ ÆRZA. Tier 2 Unlock LvL 12 CV. Class 3.91. I am satisfied with the final result here, and I believe she's quite capable for a ship of her class. I spent a great deal of effort balancing all the capabilities I wished the vessel to have, with Cargo space and Thrust capacity. Also worth noting, ÆRZA has an excellent amount of hangar space for a ship thats modestly affordable early in game. It's not a stretch to build this as your first CV as I've currently done so in my present game of survival. I think she looks pretty wicked as well, and I paid very close attention to texturing to create a final product I was happy with. Enough rambling! I present to you the USS Abaddon NX-9666. The idea to create a ship of such a plan came to me thanks to the series Star Trek Voyager. Abaddon is the heir to the USS Prometheus NX-59650, he borrowed a recognizable appearance, but the similarities end there. There are no phaser arcs or photon torpedoes in the Andromeda galaxy, but the enemy is also more powerful in these situations. I'm by no means an expert, but I learned a lot while working on my latest project, so I try to give you some tips (and I apologize for the shameless plug, but it is much easier to show for me, than to tell... second language and all that). You have a nice basic shape (love the cut-outs), but if you need to take it to the next level, you need to add detail to it. Basically, ever large flat surface you should optically brake up, ideally not just by different colors/textures. What works for me are two techniques. 1) You can cut into the surface, by using f.e. halfblocks or sloped blocks, or whatever fits really, basicaly pushing the surface "into the ship" a bit. Look at the front of the ship on the screenshot below, where the radar is., that's the simpliest way to do it. I lowered the deck there by one full block and used slopes to mimic the shape of the front side of the deck. Other examples are in the back. There are sections in the top, where the structure is periodicaly lowered half a block, so it brakes the "roof" into segments, insread of being one flat space. 2) You can add to the surface. The most obvious example on the screenshot is probably on the thuster pod, those "rings" around it. Again, their main purpouse is to brake the long cylinder down to separate segments, where there are cutouts, to create even more shape and segments. There are other examples of it , most of them you can notice by the green lights on textures. Next thing are textures. Use more different textures and colours, don't be afraid to tweak the colour palette in the coloring tool. And most importantly, combine. The first two techniques alone can help you a lot, and if you combine them (you lower a part of the surface and then overlay it with s some thin block on the top) you get nearly limitless possibilites. Add in the texture work and you can really work miracles. You can highlight the details you made with the blocks (notice how the cutouts in front and on the back are significantly lighter then the "frame" around them?), you can use a different shades of color with different textures to brake surfaces where you can't or don't want to use the block tricks etc.... Last thing - search Jeff Randall on Youtube, specificaly his block tutorials 1,2 and three, he not only shows and explains the block shapes, but shows the techniques I mentioned earlier and demonstrates them. And look for some of his texturing tutorials, might give you an idea or two.
Hey guys, i finally started building a CV which is not a total cube (but well this one is kinda cubic too ) , anyway i wanted to ask your opinion on it . Hello Guys, i made a new CV since the one above felt a bit to cubic. I would really appreciate your opinions since i want to get better at building. Both the one from above and this are made on the spot(i mean no inspiration from models or something) hence the reason i thing they are not great looking vessels nonetheless please critic me on them.
