Scenario with just config files. Possible?

I changed a few lines in my BlocksConfig.ecf and my Containers.ecf.
I also added a few things in my Config.ecf, and my TraderNPCConfig.ecf.

I assume the next time ECS updates, it will leave the Config alone and possibly the TraderNPCConfig, but prob. overwrite the rest, so I should create a scenario and place them in it.

Is this correct? If so then is it possible to create a scenario where all that is changed is a few config files and leave the solar systems alone vanilla?

Sorry if I sound clueless but I've never created a scenario before. I did watch Spanj's excellent video on creating a scenario but most of it didn't pertain to me. I don't want to change any sector files.

Second question. Do I have to start a new game, or can I start the scenario then copy my existing save files over?

Does my friend that played coop with me have to have this scenario, meaning do I have to put it on the workshop?
We're pretty far into a game. Maybe it's possible to copy from the save into the scenario?

 

Yes you must start a new game. Your friend doesn't need the scenario.
