If thats not what you think i understand, but if its not, i rather let Eleon speak for themselves. Unless you work for them that is?
This is something that is hard to argue with. Except I can't believe any developer who sticks with their baby for five years doesn't care about it getting trashed rather than loved.
lol... it's getting trashed here and in the reviews on a daily basis, as it has been for years. They have enough love here and in the positive reviews. They did thank us for that too. @Israel : I'm out. You're just running in circles here, believe what you want and be at peace for once. Seriously, you don't need to torture yourself with these matters. They assume the risk, not you.
I know where you're coming from. Heck, I play the game on Linux even though it's not supported, and has issues, especially since the 12.3 update (probably due to the new Unity version), where my fps drop to half for minutes at a time. I like the potential of what the game has, and even though I'm far from happy with what exists now, I'll still keep checking back in to see the progress. That said, I bought the game in EA, expecting it to be in an unfinished state. New customers will have different expectations. If in a parallel universe I just bought the game, I'd be much more likely to request a refund, simply because I'd expect a finished game, and would see the current state of things as the kind of quality or lack of it to expect from the developer. It's not my baby, though, and while I'd love for Empyrion to rise to ever new heights, I expect there will be other games that fill the niche if it doesn't.
I would be disgusted with myself if i was a game developer and I released a game in this state. Absolutely disgusted.
Me too, i just wouldn't release this game in this state. I wish they had waited and not rushed to release, and focused on making this game more attracting while still in early access. They could have still made money in early access if the game was still attracting to consumers in early access. What makes them think that leaving early access is instantly going to make this a better game? I don't know.
For 10$, for what I would see I would probably not ask for a refund. When I bought in v5 there was no tutorial and I had to search around to learn how to play. Some players don't go that far and ask for a refund and write a negative review. But others will do just like me. I bought many complete games around that 10$ price mark, and Empyrion sits comfortably in the middle. Not the best, not the worst, and lots of replay value. Too bad for those who don't stick with it. They can always buy it again later when it gets better... And there is an important distinction : negative reviews but still playing is not like asking for a refund. Let's see these numbers too in some time.
Dear @Eleon - now you have finished the game (only kidding ) have you given any thought to merch; t-shirts, keychains, litltle light-up USB portal miners for my desktop, etc, etc. Do you have a list of ideas stored away somewhere or is there somewhere people can make suggestions, possibly even rank them based on popularity?
I wonder.. is it possible to have Stockholm Syndrome for a game? I know that I've played games well past when I stopped having fun because my brain insisted I'd had fun in the past and if I could only get that 'high' of satisfaction/etc one more time. There really are not any other games similar to Empyrion out there. It's a very unique experience, but it's also a fairly 'WTF was this designed this way' one. CPU, ships with high mass unable to get to full speed in space, the motorcycle turn rate tied to FPS, no separate sensitivity sliders for regular looking versus zoomed in aiming, aimbot enemy AI, CV top end weapons not usable on a planet (just why), janky af npc movement (even still, animals regularly get stuck on rocks, trees) and move like they're on a chessboard instead of open terrain, disgusting swamp monsters dropping edible meat and milk (WTF?!?), multi ton hover vessels getting stuck on bushes, .. etc etc. Not ready for 1.0.
Dear members of mankind, I'm here to inform you that our informants inside the Zyrax leaderboard have gathered intel about a change in Zyrax politics towards you, the inhabitants of the Empyrion galaxy. With the advent of EGS 1.0 Zyrax leaders have decided that they can no longer tolerate the ongoing destruction of their valuable POIs and inhabitants, fearing that an increased playercount due to the potential success of the game EGS could lead the total extinction of the Zyrax population. Zyrax leaders therefore decided that it is no longer enough to send their drones to your bases. They have now started to send specially trained forces (internally named trox) to this forum to spread false information about the health of this game, its development, its developers and the financial state of Eleon with the long term goal to completely destroy the user- and financial base of this game, leading to its extinction (instead of their own). Please don't fall for this. Your never ending fight against the Zyrax is the only hope for the rest of this Galaxy to keep them from completeley enslaving this wonderful galaxy.
Also, the biggest WTF moment I had was when I learned the Talon (a stone age civ, basically) can send 'shamans' to your base and magically hack it and take control from dozens of meters away. Why would anyone think that's good gameplay/design?
Priceless....absolutely priceless. LOL. I've had to start setting my alarm for a half hour earlier the past 2 days just so I can get through the forum posts before work!
First congratulations on the birthday! I had a lot of fun these years and hope to continue having fun for many years to come! A serious question: How do you launch the game with no collectible cards, no badge, no profile backgrounds? Is it the game I have the most hours dedicated to and I won't have any of that? Oh really? I know that for many this is silly and that there is certainly still a lot to be done in the game, but I suppose it shouldn't be so hard to add these items, can't you really dedicate time for this task? I like these little baboons, and I would love to have them in my favorite game.
