What did you do in Empyrion today?

    Last night I discovered that although my gameplay was smooth, my base complex apparently pushed my system to where the video capture was choppy. Some times more so than others. I think if I want to mess around with optimizing my settings for the video capture, I may have just found a great place to do some stress tests of my rig with the game?



    Although I didn't mess with any of the settings yet, the second recording last night started off a little smoother, at least a little bit smoother. I think it got better when I moved away from the central base camp and performed activities elsewhere in the maps.

    However, it seems to be taking forever for YouTube to process this second video.

    Seems like just yesterday I had done a video with the raw Pekin CV demonstrating upgrading the vessel up to tier 2. At that time, I had no intention of doing texture and paint work on that CV anytime in the near future. Then I watched @XCaliber's live stream of entries from his August build challenge and got inspired....

    So first I worked on the Pekin, and then I did the Pekin T2, or the fully upgraded version. The Pekin on the workshop has been updated accordingly, and the Pekin T2 made available.



    The video was less than 14 minutes so it shouldn't take too much longer to process, but here's a pic of the two vessels.

    Today, I played with my daughter in creative. She built her very first blueprint, a HV. Basic. No weapons. No cargo. Detector, O2, spotlight and the basics for hover and movement.



    And when I wasn't helping her with that, I started working on rebuilding my personal favorite mining HV. Been using the Kiwi since alpha 6 but I temporarily retired it for non-compliance with CPU. So it is past time I start the work on bringing back into compliance and perhaps a little renovation in the process.

    I think we could afford more variety in trees. There is a very limited selection, colors don't fit even with same "climate" types and for some reason many times half of the trees I want do not spawn.

    I got angry and put them all in a biome to see which ones would collaborate and which ones would not.

    Some of these are very cartoonish, and some barely pass the "cuteness" test. It's very hard to make a somewhat good-looking dense tree cover like what we have in temperate latitudes.

    Well, you DID kind of put them all out there without any kind of work space. I mean, no chairs, no tables, no tools of any kind. I mean, how are they supposed to get anything done let alone work together? :p

    One week and my hospital ship is still not ready. The hospital ward didn't get a block either.

    Eine Woche und mein Hospitalschiff ist immer noch nicht fertig. Auch die Hospitalstation hat keinen Block mehr dazu bekommen.

    At the animal depot, I was able to adjust something until I lost the desire.
    Beim Tier-Depot konnte ich noch was anpassen, bis mir die Lust verging.

    Then I set out to build a space defense station. It was supposed to be ready last Friday. Today I finally finished and published it.
    Dann hab ich mich daran begeben eine Raum-Abwehr zu bauen. Sie sollte eigentlich letzten Freitag fertig werden. Heute hab ich sie endlich fertig gestellt und veröffentlicht.

    I once put my destroyer Praedo in front of it and let them shoot at each other. They are roughly equally strong. But with a pilot the destroyer should always win.
    Ich hab mal meinen Zerstörer Praedo davor gestellt und beide aufeinander schießen lassen. Sie sind in etwa gleich stark. Mit Pilot sollte der Zerstörer aber immer gewinnen.

    Started a new vanilla play through last night. I really get a kick out of seeing what the new world I spawn in will be like, and then seeing if my lessons from previous games kick in. And generally they do. Started on the arid biome to try out starting where O2 is a need. It really isnt that much of an issue, but does add just one more element to deal with. And learned some valuable lessons about ventilators. Was able to zip around the planet scouting in the patched up hoverbike...learned to love finding golems. Was actually pleased to see a fight between a golem and a spider, as I wish there were more interactions between NPCs. In the middle of NPC controlled space there are aggressive mobs sitting right next to POIs, and they dont seem to care.

    Managed to build my preferred SV (The CRUDE), and a nice base to get started. Ventured into space to check out the surroundings.

    Its fun to see that what once took me days of figuring stuff out now can be accomplished in about 3-4 hours.

    I like it!

    There is hierarchy of things I look for in the game as far as effective vehicles...1. Utility 2. Ease of building/harvesting for 3. Function 4. Aesthetics.

    Ill drive a space brick if it ticks of #1-3. I have seen extremely beautiful creations in the factory that were effectively worthless to me. So Id drive this sucker in a heartbeat. Looks like it would be an awesome early level hauler and collection SV.

    Another experiment with structure scaling.
    Produced a... Leviathan-class Decimator. It's 4x the size of a regular decimator and larger than the zirax Dreadnought, while only being class 4.
    Has some nice applications as a death star-like POI that you can fly a ship into.

    Continuing to tweak the exterior hull design here and there while building out the interior spaces. Not complete, but getting closer.

    Changed thruster locations and quantity. Planning to setup thrusters in two categories (main and maneuvering) with the ability to shutoff the larger thrusters and a few others to save power).

    Replaced the forward-facing weapons with placeholders (for the blueprint). there are a total of 16. BTW - There are 12 standard turrets currently, and 8 anti-personal turrets. Both sets are retractable.

    Upgraded front windows to armored.

    Added multiple spotlights; they will be setup in groups as well (forward, landing, rear cargo bay ramp, all, etc.). I'll throw in some logic for this.

    Also added some greebling here and there as deco.

    Currently a combination of Steel (exterior) and Carbon (interior) blocks. Will strategically add some Hardened or Combat blocks towards the end of the build. There is a shield generator, so I was not to concerned about going full Hardened / Combat Steel. She's also rather quick -n- nimble for her size.

    Note: consider the pics of the interior below a 'draft' at this point. Everything is subject to change before I call this one complete.

    I finally finished scrapping the Derelict Ship, that took a while.

    On a plus side, I received a massive amount of steel and titanium plate, more than enough to fill the needs of my end-game planet buster.

    Anyone else notice that, for a derelict ship, it does not have a single thruster mounted on it?

    I would like to thank @CrazyZ for the LCD keyboards. They weren't what I was looking for, but what I learned from them allowed me to edit one to create what I was looking for. I know it is small to look at in this hover vessel, but I now have the keypad I was looking for. I might make some small edit(s) to it yet, but the real challenge now will be the projection on the other side of the cockpit. There are some screens that I found inspiring by @IndigoSynn, but trying to convert them to the new standard broke the ones I was interested in so I will probably just use them as inspiration to build something there.

    Like how quickly you caught that. After that, I just have to keep that a part of it. Decided to make some changes to it after all. Gave me an opportunity to practice some more so that perhaps I might understand even better.

    I am so excited. The Kiwi mining HV has been one of my personal favorites of my BP, so to finally bring into CPU compliance and re-release it on the workshop, feels like a good day for me.

    Yeah, it only has 6750 SU capacity, but I did build it to operate in 2.0 gravity. Considering the calculations I used, there is a good chance it can mine in 3.0 gravity or higher. I almost cannot wait to load up my survival game, spawn in this HV and fly to a 3.93 gravity world near my base to see if I get stuck or if the HV pulls through like a champ.
