The last start I did make it painfully clear that anything that isnt heavily armored armed and ideally shielded has no place in space any more.

With extremes like dreadnoughts, destroyers, frigates etc showing up almost everytime I go near an asteroid not to mention the huge number of drones (I always play with drones on high else planets get really boring).

So this morning I quickly made couple of little additions to my fleet :)

On the left a new T2/L7 vanilla game armored shuttle with 4 turrets, warp, 6k cargo - made out of hardened steel armored windows etc. Blueprint has no warp drive or pentaxid tank (moon/asteroid needed for the cobalt). Should be easily able to scrounge enough titanium plate from salvage. It just fits T2 when upgraded with a few point to spare - at least until Eleon make yet another random change to CPU.

On the right a new T3/L12 shielded asteroid mining SV (needs mod) made of of regular steel, windows etc with 3 retractable gatling turrets 2 x gatling gun 16k cargo. I may do a version of it with vanilla turrets and without the drills to serve as a little blockade runner. 20201016115800_1.jpg 20201016121201_1.jpg

Inside of the armored shuttle - the cockpit area has its own door as most likely after a tangle with a frigate, the cabin will have holes in it! :)

These are not complete yet - still need some tweaks (and detail/paint job for the shuttle).

    Hi everyone
After a long absence, I decided to stop by to see how you are doing here ... and unfortunately I saw that nothing new really happened, it became visually prettier. engineering everything is in the same place. Sadness.
I saw the flamethrower in the updates ... Hooray, I thought, and went into the game ... but the joy did not last long. When I saw its range of action .... the range of action of an infantry flamethrower is 50-200 meters, well, I agree within the framework of the game, let it be 30 ... but 6 .... Karl! 6 meters !!! In general, I was very surprised. I flew in creative fashion around my ships ... I realized that all the same, in the near future I will return to the construction, or rather, the completion of the aircraft carrier. But I've had enough of the EGS for today:D:D:D

Today i tried to get this "little beauty" flying:
    20201016194933_1.jpg
Sadly the CPU system prevents such a big SV. This is really sad because as a CV this would lose its charme completly as it then would not just be bulky but really big.
So this nonsuccess reminded me how much stronger CVs are in Atmosphere compared to SVs and HVs.
That made me sad and so i stopped playing Empyrion for today ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Please, don't get me wrong.:)
Following your Signature Form follows function! - what is the function of this SV that it needs this Form?
Is it a "Fighter"? If that is the intent than I understand the required 4 XXL(?) Rear-Thruster. Not questioning the 14 smaller ones too.;).
Anyway - how 'bad' is it with the CPU? 100% over?

    Haha good point.
It is a Design back from the days when CVs could not dock to CVs, it was supposed to be a heavy lifting SV. You cannot raid 90% of the pois without a CV while playing with the Original M/V settings ( ) except you leave lots of loot at the POI. I didn't wanted to fly to every POI with my CV so i wanted to built a heavy lifting SV that combines the speed of a SV with some lift power. First this design was ruined by the low thrust of bigger SV jet thrusters. Now it is ruined by CPU. It is around 430.000CPU (so more then 300% over) even without RCS. I can get it down to ~340.000 or something like that when i reduce the immense thrust by somewhat that seems acceptable.
Now to the form issue: I do follow my Signature. Every Design i make has something between 1-5 important key feautres it must fullfill. And then cames the look. Sometimes i add some blocks to make it look better but only if it doesn't ruin the aimed desing features. Now here is the thing.
Sometimes a Vessel or base "works better" when it looks better. Because then it makes more fun to play with it ;). But this mostly just works for PVE designes. If you could take a look at my Current PvP CV MBS you would find not one block that is there to make it look better. This CV is just there to fight against other CV. There are no drills, no multiturret, no bed or any other deco block.
But back to the "Hauling Gorilla", 5 key features where to fullfill:
    • A ramp at the front that allows me to enter flying POIs comfortable.
    • Enough storage to raid at least 2 standart sized POIs in a row.
    • enough thrust to fly with full loot boxes at maximum speed.
    • seats for at least 4 others
    • Some weapons to take down weak POIS on its own

and funnyly a 6th more optional one:
    • a neat design so my faction mates are more easily conviced that we uses this one when we raid POIs togetherthat don't require more firepower.
So thanks for your curiosity and for your attention. I hope i could answer all your questions to your satisfaction. :)

Thought I'd upload some more of my things to the Workshop... Next up was Shatterskull, my T4 tank which I'm rather proud of! It glows and everything! And is quite satisfyingly tough in combat against POIs! Tank Piccies_DayTime!.png Tank Piccies_nightglowie.png Tank Piccies_2020-10-18_22-56-21.png

Last night I was playing through the storyline missions and got ambushed by the Zirax destroyer again.
For those not aware, while going through "Uncertain Outcomes" you get ambushed at a Polaris base by Zirax troopers.
Those troopers WILL call in a warship for backup, it takes a while for it to arrive, but it is incoming.

My bad luck was that the Planetary Remnant was directly between the destroyer and the Polaris base where I was ambushed.
I was going through the remnant with the weapons on my CV turned off (so they would not shoot the remnant) when I started hearing explosions.

I burned a meteor trail out of the remnant to find the destroyer pummeling my CV.
I ran inside and (thankfully) it was still operational, so I ran away.

I spent the rest of the night repairing my CV, it was significantly damaged and I lost one of the containers I kept a lot of loot in.

Tonight, I am going to make the Zirax pay...

In my mind, being chased down by a dreadnought doesn't sound like something that should be thrust upon a player in the early game. Well, I found myself running away from a dreadnought in Reforged Eden recently. Managed to survive, patch up the hole in my CV, and start looting and mining on the moon I had escaped to. All was good until I started going back out in space again. Was able to get to the world near the moon and fill up the hold on my CV. Then when I decided that I should get some gold because I figured that next step would take me to "tier 3" class vessels, I made a warp jump and came out into a practical ambush. At first I thought I was going to get away, but then the Zirax stayed with me long enough to take down the shields I had just raised and quickly tear apart the whole back of the Nightjar CV. It was all over rather quickly. Now I was playing Reforged, so I hope this was a Reforged thing, because if this is the future of the game then it might time for me to stop playing Empyrion... When you need a top tier combat vessel to go out into space, but you need to go out into space to get the materials to actually build that top tier combat vessel, well it is a conundrum.

Now as for my game, I spent a few hours killing things to earn neutral status with the Zirax. Who knows, maybe that is supposed to be the new way you play the game if you don't want to be slaughtered? Anyways, now that I was at least at peace with the Zirax, I went back for the wreck of my CV. Packed a large block generator, fuel tank, and fuel packs in my SV. Then off to find the wreck in orbit of another world. With the Zirax leaving me alone now, I attached the generator and fuel tank, powered up the CV, and used the advanced constructor that was in the front half of the wreckage to build a warp drive and pentaxid tank. Pulled a couple of the thrusters that remained and reassigned them as rear thrusters. Now I had generator, fuel, warp drive and forward thrust. At this point, I no longer had any thrusters capable of spinning the CV, so when I got it back to base, my only option was to crash it however it would. Came down nearly on one side of the CV, and the vessel rolled over onto the other side instead.

The cargo hold was untouched, at least. And I managed to "park" the wreck near my base but not on top of any of the buildings. Considering how I didn't have roll or pitch controls, it was a rather successful retrieval of the Nightjar.

No it is not. I have had this happen in vanilla (in the starting solar system, but not the starting planet orbit) - I was hostile with Kriel and Zirax at the time I where I exited warp there was basically red stuff all around. Turns out one Zirax dreadnought and god knows what from Kriel.

Now I have got into a habit of pressing X to switch shields back on as soon as I start the jump, so that on exit the other end it should only be a couple of seconds before the shield is back up. Even so - those few seconds were enough for some very major damage to my CV just a fraction before the shield came back up.

If I was in an SV, it would have had no chance - would be insta-fragged.

As for why I was hostile to kriel - well who the hell thought it was a good idea 'uplift' the most hostile swamp world wildlife into Kriel and Lgc?
I had not played for a month or so. The damn thing is looking at me funny and making noises - of course Im gonna shoot it before asking questions!

Wow, not much left of your CV, I'm happy more of mine survived.

As for my game, the stupid destroyer got itself stuck in the asteroid field!
Thankfully I had repaired the majority of my damage while it still had the scars from our previous encounter.

I believe by default you start as unfriendly with Kriel and Zirax, so even if you had chosen to ignore them, they would not have ignored you. Or maybe I am not remembering my vanilla start(s) too well. The irony of starting unfriendly with factions that you are nearly certain to run into, you will be hostile with them in short order. To get to "peace" with the Zirax, I had to go without turrets, using my SV with gatling guns so I specifically chose the targets. A couple times I had to be very careful with my shots because I was getting impatient, trigger happy, and sometimes that movement was something Zirax that would kill me if it got a chance but I had to avoid shooting or ruin my entire progress and some. Part of why I was in a SV, because I could avoid more of the ground "troops" that way. Picking and choosing my targets. Sometimes even "kill stealing" some predator/Kriel a Zirax was fighting simply to get credit for the kill and the associated faction relation improvement. While I was on unfriendly terms, I still had to avoid the Zirax "troops" because they were out for my blood even though I was making a point not to shoot them.

Put off working on Reforged's mission system to get some story POIs together for an upcoming mission that i'll probably write tomorrow.
I built three Polaris Communication Relay POIs, a UCH Satellite and updated Kenex Station for a position in the starter orbit as the local trade station with attachment points for missions for both Polaris and Pirates.

UCH Satellite. "Hello Commander. We finally meet."

The other thing I did was experiment with a new anti-personnel weapon.

No - neutral with Kriel - This is a fresh default solo swamp start (still in escape pod):
    20201019140715_1.jpg

Recently out of frustration of bad luck with what seemed like non stop muggings by PVs in my lvl 7 SV everytime I went to try to mine an asteroid, I did a fresh start and spent most of the way to level 10 (think I was L8 or 9 when I got neutral) just wandering around the edge of zirax territory killing trees and wildlife to get neutral with them before doing anything else at all. I was curios how long it would take to get neutral with them at the start these days in a way that didnt involve slaughtering talon (and therefore also annoying polaris).

All I had done up to that point was from mining rocks to make a portable constructor, shotgun and assault rifle and loads of ammo and went walkabout. Had loads of rotten food by the end of it :)

Created a highlight video from the Stream video and exported that YouTube. So here's the highlight of my efforts to recover the Nightjar CV.
