I generally don't do all of those things in one day. I only do the marathon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the gym. I only implemented one hoverbike to replace the motorbike and I read Maker's Curse by Trudi Canavan, not War and Peace.
It's nice to see someone else likes legacy cockpit #5, for me, the window panes on the current cockpit 5 are a put off. I liked it when the cockpit was a bubble. It's a pity the old cockpit does not match the blocks as well as the new one does.
@Robot Shark That was the Severus Miner blueprint that I downloaded from workshop and I recommend to anyone for a low energy consumption and low-chances-of-being-stuck utility vessel. But yes, I really like that rounded cockpit. Also the CX4 Scythe has a very wide first person cockpit view that I enjoy. Hahaha. So true.
That is why almost all of my SVs and HVs use cockpit04 (the bubble one) - I find the rest too annoying.
I keep trying to make (and sometimes completing) bases. Lots of them - futuristic ones, old bunker styles, military, warehouses etc. Some are very practical, some not (stamina being the main killer of bases even with benches everywhere). But I keep coming back to mostly using my original warehouse style bases when I play, maybe it the modular aspect (just stick another little shed down when I need more) - kind of old RTS game style (command and conquer etc). Anyway, I decided to combine some of them with some new stuff (control tower / admin building, fuel and o2/tanks + generator) to make a basic air-force base style thing as well as customized for my most recent CV build. It is usually hard finding a good bit of shoreline for something like this, but I struck lucky and found this bit that is almost the right shape for it (only a couple hundred meters from my starting base). Fuel tanks, o2 tanks (in case of arid etc world) and generators Main building - I guess a bit inspired from some of the buildings in Wildlands Ore etc receiving and processing shed Main building has fabrication area, medical and commanders quarters with control tower at top A bit of a 'top gun' moment... Not much to it really, except that it takes nearly 170k cpu worth of concrete, some steel and some truss blocks. 170K CPU FFS! Almost T2 before I even stick even one functional block down - the absurdity of the current implementation of CPU. Of course quite a bit of concrete is there just to cope with uneven land and so the stone henge style SI system we have in this doesnt make it all collapse
Played with my brother last night. We took one last look at the space station above the starter planet before we leave: After hours of searching, my brother and I found the perfect spot for our new base: I also did some testing on the scenario just to make sure everything was working right and took some screenshots of the beautiful nebula that this game has: We also found ourselves in the accretion disk of an Anomaly. This doesn't seem safe...
Meet my new space base near the sun. Rebecca is her name. She's one of those Polaris modular stations. I gifted her with a teleporter, a furnace, a deconstructor, a repair bay and upgraded her heart to T3.
Nice! Every time I see a space station with solar panels an exasperated thought goes through my head about why 15? Why the f*** 15 in a cube game? Why not a multiple of 4? Even my cat walking on the keyboard could have come up with something more useful
A couple of new additions to my little fleet (new miner 2nd left - basically the armored shuttle with a mining frame for asteroid mining and a new T4 raider SV): I needed a new T4 Raider SV to go with my latest T4 CV - something to give zirax base commanders a really bad day 10/14 weapon mounts (10 filled as 2 x laser, 4 x plasma and 4 x rocket as that tends to be all I use), 6 mini gun turrets, 8k ammo, 24k cargo and lost of thrust so quite agile even when loaded with loot. (Edit: this is now on the workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2284017905)
I'm having a bit of a mental block working on the interior of my Project Eagle Moon Base. I've been futzing with the"travel tubes" realizing the better looking octagonal tube just isn't reliable with constant hang-ups and jams. The flat-floor-tube is far better and, with a little paint and texture, doesn't look that bad. Octagon tube: Flat-bottom Tube: So, while I seek inspiration, I thought I'd send a selfie: Have a great day everybody!
Once again I am facing the "End Game Blues". Managed to find a nice temperate planet in Zirax territory, set up that new bit ARC base that is on the workshop (And that sucker is HUGE). Upgraded it to have a repair bay. Then set up a large landing pad next to it to park my CV while I clear the planet. Spent the past few days clearing all Zirax POIs. Then cleared the space around the planet. And now there is the "What now?" I have the materials (or the capability of quickly getting the materials) to build pretty much anything I want/need. The CV I went with (Filberfarmers Valkyrie) is amazing in space and in space combat, but its internal HV bay is too narrow for my preferred planetary HVs...so If I decide on assaulting other planets, Ill need a new one. So, I am at the crossroad of "Lets keep growing" or "I will start over again with a new challenge". I am leaning on taking time off to design my own "end game" CV. I have built a few good starter SVs. And a garbage box of a starter/mid game CV. Maybe its time to seek out inspiration and go for a "big boy" ship.
Finally updated/retrofitted/rebuilt all important ships. Now CPU compliant with enough engine power to lift and move heavy loads, except the battlestar of course, which is over CPU and device limits. I also built a new HV, it still needs some tweaking. Planetary BAs need some more work as well. And then I have to give it all a good test run in survival.
There are some things I do when I get bored. I usually build different stuff from workshop, enable teleporters on them so I can travel more easily between systems. If I'm feeling creative I build a base from scratch. When I want some chills and thrills I invade legacy buildings and try to land on 4G planets. Sometimes some Zirax battle is needed and the loot compensates. Well, I keep expanding and building. I'd love if there were random POIs with missions or levels (legacy abandoned buildings are a nice example). And a better trade network.
Yup! I am hoping that one day there is a benefit given to actually controlling areas. I would love to be able to use a land claim device to "claim" ground. And perhaps if one manages to put enough on a planet they can claim the planet as their own. Even if it were just for "RP" value, I would like to see a small orb around a planet that is mine. Would give a bit more incentive to clearing planets and bases.
The nearest it seems we can get to a full dome in glass - I really wish we had the missing bits of glass available.... I think 3 shapes are needed based on the 3 cubes types used for the remaining metal surface. One the inside (after I tried stuffing over 500 grow plots inside it for the sake of science (432 still in here)
Absolutely! I guess it'd make me feel as I'm really freeing the galaxy from the tyrants, being compensated for the effort. It'd give the player a sense of expansion and achievement, wouldn't it? *Sigh* I guess dreaming is free, right?
There comes a point where I wish we could just nuke the planets from orbit and not even bother visiting...
