As it's the Zirax doing the bashing from the moment you arrive, I'm normally happy to return the favour. But the new orbital patrol ships - even in the starting area - are making this a bit tricky. Throw in the Reforged changes and being friendly with everyone suddenly seems like a great idea.
Not exactly true. We are Invaders in their Sphere of Influence. Besides. the Zirax are the first who show up...or would you rather prefer to get the Legacy to pay you the first Visit? Besides you can't be friendly with Everyone as the Legacy is not included
Oops, I completely missed this. Let me know when you post this to the workshop - link here please. Danke.
A picture is worth a thousand words. So here you go, three of them to describe 3000 of my cargo CV. I used as a hull the Eve-Online-Charon replica by FutonTorpedo Is 189x320k cargo containers enough? Is 704kT lift thrust enough? I need to do some tests and run some numbers.
Nice. Even it will be a logistical Nightmare with all those CC's. All possible to build - as long as you 'find' a advanced Core for it
Indeed. But then again one can walk to the proper container. Or maybe containers could be assigned in groups i.e. Ore, devices, fuel, oxygen etc.
Some more new fleet additions in progress: 1. Updated T4 destroyer It a revision of the Caelestis to get back to its original intended design. I dont really like flying with a bridge at the back and the restricted view that goes with it (I prefer 1st person, not 3rd), but having it at the front means window cracks which always get annoying now that the PV meta seems to be add as many turrets as possible and make sure lots of them are shield killers (fun... :/). Also have the front damage soaks (the two center front bits - solid combat steel with a small generator in each) and side anti-missile screens. Still working on outside, and new inside area below the new bridge. Full weapon and turrets compliment setup as defence group of 4 x mini gun and offence group of 8 x cannon, 10 x rocket, 10 x plasma and 2 x artillery + 6 pulse laser and 4 rocket launchers. Not a guaranteed dreadnought killer, but certainly up to taking on the updated legacy territory. 2. A new early game starter HV/mobile home that can be upgraded to T2 and armed (or armed at T1 if you switch out the constructor for weapons). 3. A new Starter CV (T1, L7 or 10) Its basically my old Starter CV with a completely new hull and cabin to fit the look of the other new vessels. 2 x 16ok cargo, 1 large/adv constructor, 2 small, full medical, warp, shield, 4 turrets. Also trying out ladders for easy bridge access from the outside. Same turrets and ground mode etc signalling I am using on all my CVs now.
For the truly desperate, escaping convicts and the like needing a T1 warp capable CV with some air, cargo space (40k) and nothing else at all - the DT1 - 'Deathtrap' CV Might by handy if you are forced to scrounge and need a 'pre-starter' CV to get the hell out of a bad starting system. It was quickly hacked together from my little asteroid mining CV.
Played a bit of survival last night, I decided to go on an interplanetary mining trip to get more of the rarer minerals. I don't have a CV yet but, I really wanted to take my HV along, so... I also set up a pentaxid mine on the local moon. The view is awesome! That's my starter planet there. The view from my home is not bad either, especially at night. Some of the views in Empyrion is truly epic! Sometimes it takes a custom scenario, but still.
Yeah so a friend of mine are checking out the Reforged Eden Scenario on a Server right now. So after we escaped the Roughe PX-37 Planet and reached this wonderful beach he burried me in the sand somehow:
Wow. That looks a lot sweeter than anything I have done with the fill and levelling features of the laser drill.
I recently decided to jump into the MP world and joined one along with the player Xcaliber. My game started, rough...to say the least. When I was finally able to log in, for some reason, I didnt have the normal "crashing pod" sequence...I was just there standing on a swamp planet. I >think< what happened is when I first tried to log in and picked all the starting criteria I wasnt whitelisted yet, so it didnt let me in. Later, when I was, it had played the landing sequence out anyway. Well, I immediately was swarmed by raptors and died. I picked to respawn near my corpse, and was quickly killed again. So I chose "spawn in station"...only remembering that the station was in space. Then I thought "Maybe I can just start over" so I logged out, and back in. This time, I appeared in space...without a suit...so I just suffocated to death. This final time I chose "restart on planet in pod" and I did, in fact, get the crash landing sequence. Landed smack dab in the middle of talon terrirory, so getting the basic supplies to live kept hurting my rep. Long story short, eventually made it to a neutral area, set up survival constructors, and went on the arduous task of gathering enough stone to convert into other ingots. I didnt have to worry about food, because every evening legacy assassin things would come along and injure me in some critical way. During one break in playing, I took time to build myself a starter HV. I learned that the hover vessel constructor can actually build quite a few useful "early game" things and can delay the amount of time needed before starting a base. In reforged, base attacks are pretty viscous, so I didnt want to defend a dinky shed from the swarms of incoming bomber drones with just a shotgun and foul language. In past two days I have been able to get my self built starter base set up, a scout SV for quick trips into space, and my purpose built early game mobile hv "base" proved awesome. But one thing that vanilla doesnt teach you is that even when you log off, the game is still going...so food spoils, energy is spent, and life goes on. So I have had to finally learn how to utilize solar panels, turn off vehicles and components I am not using, and quit only in places that are "safe", and to always keep some spare fuel on me. I logged in today sitting in a dead HV with only 3 cans of biofuel to get my back to base.
So the Reforged Eden world I started on is absolutely brutal. To compound this, my lag was brutal. It makes combat virtually impossible as my reticle bounces around the screen like a 2 year old at a teletubbies convention. So I tried to relegate myself to SV mining as I can stay relatively mobile and safe. I finally gathered the last ingot to start my starter CV build, and had a 3 hour wait while the factory churned. So I decided to fly off to gather more fuel. Cruising along at around 400meters to avoid drones, I spot the promethium node I am heading for, slip my finger over to hit V to get a better view for landing...and what is happening...why am I floating...NO I HIT F instead! I fall about 400 meters, hitting the jetpack just in time to soften my landing to a crunch instead of a splat. And I look up and 380 meters above is my beloved mining SV. I look to the horizon and I am 6.8k to my home base...between me and it are countless legacy/kriel/zirax baddies. So...what to do. I decide that since this is survival, I will try to survive and >work the problem<. I have food, and supplies for a while, so I figure I may be able to craft a simple hoverbike and get back home. I set about putting up a portable constructor and gathering stone/plant fibers. I am soon after visited by my first Kriel baddie who I barely manage to kill, though it knocks me almost all the way out. Shortly after, night falls and the legacy crawlie comes out. I die. I respawn nearby, only to find that same legacy baddie waiting for me...I spawned directly in its path as it was tracking back to its normal area. So...long story short, I spawn back at base, spend about 10 minutes hastily crafting an SV that is little more than a metal platform with wings (I did make it very wide so when I get out I am standing on it, and not thin air). I am able to fly back to my still hovering mining SV, and get in it and continue on. tl,dr: Hitting F when way up high is a very, very unfortunate event.
For the last week or two i've started playing MP on Spanj's Reforged Eden server. Despite a 250-260 ping I haven't had many problems with lag. I have a respectable base/town, and since i'm trying to get a Dreadnought off the ground I need Quantum CPU Extenders to get over the limit cap. So today... I went to legacy space, which is a really long way to go, and i'm flying a Polaris Skenya-Class Destroyer. Yeah, an NPC ship. Now, aside from stupid Eleon MP bugs with the Legacy Turrets, at least some of the enemy ships are able to fight, and poking the ones that don't will get you banned for exploiting a bug. So, fair fights against willing legacy only. This was a two-on-one battle originally, but a lucky shot from my artilleries took out the drive thrusters of the other Infector in the first minute or two, stopping it from moving. Alas, I am unable to loot it because it still has a functional shield generator and the second one is proving much harder to kill. I ran out of missiles and decided to retreat to a nearby empty spacefield and call it a night. I'll come back in the morning after I go find a polaris trade station to reload my ammo. All i've lost is one of the plasma turrets off the ship's nose since legacy weapons deal low shield damage, but massive hull damage. As long as I back off to recharge, i'll be fine. (Provided i'm behind the infector, since they can move up to 90m/s now, so running is rather difficult if he's facing you) Le home.
On vacation for a few days, but did manage to get me starter CV upgrades with a T2 shield, extenders, and bigger thrusters. Managed to hit level 25 without busting even one enemy POI. Not due to lack of desire, but due to horrific lag. My ping appears fine, but my in game lag is brutal. As in dead before I even see bad guys bad.
So what did I do today ... hmmmm ... Proj Eden on server with a few friends, but more specifically ... 1. Procured my newly designed Aurora II SV Miner 2. Mined 16,000 Zachosium and 8,000 Estreum so I could procure my new battle cruiser, the Ticonderoga (still waiting on the factory for delivery 3. Discovered 3 new planetary systems, and picked the lock on several LGC Data Caches - kudos to the designers - I love puzzles 4. But most importantly, discovered a glitch / bug / exploit (or in software terms - a "feature") which allows any mining vehicle to carry a virtually unlimited amount of ore (40,000), even if the Ore Container has no extensions .
Today I went over all of my old SV builds and started slapping turrets on a few of them. Basically, I slapped on as many as I could within the CPU limits of the build. I guess it was about time I did that.
