    How dare you! My opinion is of utmost importance, I won't bury my precious thoughts in an "Other space" or their huge impact in a small comments section.

    Generally speaking the features are great.

    I still want more stuff. More Armor boosters, more tools, more guns, more turrets for ships, more weapons fire effects, more devices, etc etc etc. Then have them spread out in recipes or scanning of things(i.e. via a research tree or via the explorers thingy you have in the game now) and then give them an appropriate gradient of power vs challenge of acquisition. That will give lots more for MP to do(and, in turn, shoot each other with,) and end-game stuff for SP. I know that Eden and Reforged have at least some of it, but I want the base game to have 4x to 10x as much/many as those scenarios. Really give some "meat" or oomph to exploration and fabrication.

    Landscape visuals are very important, so I am glad to see them getting some love after all this time. Especially love the water.

    Then why solicit feedback on the forums, other than to placate players and give them a false hope that their feedback means something?

    Threads like this one (and, for that matter, this one that we're on) make me sad. I read through the feedback threads in general and see so many excellent, well-considered ideas that... appear to have been ignored. It's not even that the changes aren't happening, although that's also bad in many cases - it's that nobody on the dev team says "hey, the player moves like an alcoholic greased cat on ice because we've had a few too many ourselves and it looks fine at that point!"*

    We have lovely water in the game, but I still have markers on my map for depleted asteroids and destroyed (entirely disassembled! No blocks left! I checked the core before I removed it!) POIs.

    Polish isn't a bad thing - but the game systems need polish as well, and those seem generally neglected in favor of new shiny things.

    * I don't actually think this is the reason, but I'm half tempted to start spreading rumors like this in the hopes that someone on the dev team will correct it with a real answer. :V

    We pay attention to all the feedback written on our channels. We only dont respond to it. Doesnt mean we dont read it.

    Not to be an apologist, but the process of messing with big monolithic software projects is mostly serialized over time so the best you can hope for is prioritization and decomposition, so you get lots of small things done relatively quickly.

    They mention in the OP that they have only recently engaged a third-party support organization (Brave Zebra) to address aspects of the game and either backfill for skill sets they've lost over time or free up the members of their small team to focus on other work. Hopefully that was a positive experience and the operational costs and quality are such that they can comfortably expand on that. If so, being able to tackle more work in parallel may be something their business model can support.

    Friendly heads up; you are attempting to sense hostility where there is, in fact, the opposite. Are some of the threads a touch baity? Sure. However, most of it is curiosity.

    They are not always interested in acting on our ideas as they have ideas of their own for their game, but they want to know their players while being able to act on a fair number of their interests. Think about all the other gigantic studios and other, smaller, indie efforts and how many of them ask this many questions of their players? I tend to not engage in wishful thinking(i.e. saying something along the lines, " I wish more studios would do this...") because I can just come to this game?

    I suspect you are mostly just joking so I am not trying to jump down your throat, I just want to respond to the idea of spreading rumors because the gaming/online community can be so... horrific. :eek: So better to address your post while also, vicariously, hoping to reach others.

    I have a strange problem, in 1.6 no, but in this version 1.7 when i near a structure npc or create from player i lag, freeze and HD load a lot, become unplayable, i try to reinstall the product, but someone has the same problem?

    I have this problem and I'm running an i7-11k series, 32gb ram and GTX 3070 which can run at 180 frames. Lag spikes that cripple any chance of playing the game. Same thing happened on creative when I was trying to build my structure

    I was having similar problems bringing assets into the game awhile back and went for a hardware solution ... if your motherboard supports it and you don't have one, an M.2 NVMe drive is a good thing to exploit any gift cards you may have gotten under the tree. These drives use the PCIe bus to transfer the data and greatly increase (x3-5) the throughput. I haven't noticed any particular issues with bringing stuff in with 1.7 vs. 1.6 but I use a lower res and cap my framerate at 70fps with my 1070.

    tl;dr version:
    My problem with feedback isn't that it's not being read. I imagine someone's reading it. My problem is that ultimately, I feel like it's just screaming into the void when I (and others) do provide feedback, because none of it seems to be acted on*.

    So after all that, consider this my suggestion. Next time you do a survey, look through the feedback threads and pick concrete examples of features you could implement for the next version. With the current categories, I have no clue what I'm actually voting for when I pick (for example) game mechanics or player controller. For all I know, voting for game mechanics means I'm getting a new repair tool. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Even if none of the options are the big and difficult ones, it lets you say "yes, we actually DO pay attention to your feedback." And if you publish the survey results, you can point to them and say "see? There's only actually 3 loud and obnoxious people who want to walk around on CVs, now shut up about it."


    To be fair, I never said it wasn't read - I just said it was ignored. ;)

    Oh, I understand this all too well - I work with developers in my day job. I admit that colors my opinions, because every freaking sprint I see my devs "prioritize" new features over stability, quality, and what the customers want. It's actually damned frustrating when I see it elsewhere.

    I'll have to dig around for this. It's not in this OP, but if that's a thing they've done, that's excellent.

    Emphasis mine. It's that bolded part that seems to be missing. The most blatant example (which is, oddly, one I don't care about at all) is allowing walking on moving CVs. Seems like that's mentioned multiple times on the more general feedback threads, and it's highly-liked every time. Yes, it's a lot of work - but it's also something that apparently a lot of people want to see, which means good return on the work done for it.

    Most of the indie games I follow solicit feedback from players. Often, they have voting systems - e.g. a Discord channel where you write your suggestion and people vote on them. Get a lot of votes, and hey, that's a feature the devs start seriously looking into. The important part, of course, being that highly-voted features are eventually implemented, or it's explained why it's not possible/doesn't fit in with the gameplay.

    Gigantic studios, of course, don't care about anything other than how much money a game is going to make them - but they also have a lot more dev time in general to work with.

    heh. Yes, that was a joke. Although if I were to do that, I'd at least try to make it funny rather than malicious. :p

    * I did a quick informal tally of stuff from the "three things I dislike" thread that was actually implemented. Nine items were fixed - four were mentioned exactly once, most were only mentioned a few times (with crouching and the crosshair being the exception,) all but one were only fixed in the most recent update (maybe this means more requested features/fixes are forthcoming?), and only one was suggested in the past year (toolbar restore.)

      • Sameness of worlds: being fixed/helped by the new deco blocks, presumably. Latest version.
      • Reason to explore: See above, also the explorer tokens. Latest version, I think?
      • Conditions: Latest version
      • Restore toolbar after picking up death backpack: Latest version
    • Mentioned infrequently
      • Floaty-drone: Latest version
      • AI Pathing: Latest version
      • CV-CV Docking: Latest version
    • Mentioned frequently
      • Crosshair: Customizable as of many versions ago. Only "old" item on this list."

    By comparison, two items (CPU being fail and walking on CVs) stand out as being mentioned very frequently, and still haven't been fixed as far as I can tell. Nine items seems like a lot, but that's out of (currently) 321 replies as of right now. Assuming 25% of the posts have three good suggestions in them, and there's an average of 1 repeated suggestion in those good posts (probably high,) that leaves us with 160 good suggestions. Some of those have to be low-hanging fruit.

    Final note: After reading the 3 dislikes thread to collect the above data, I almost deleted the rest of this post and just left the tl;dr at the top. Reading through it really brought back the feeling of "someone might be listening, but nobody really cares." Either way, I'll leave this as my final post for the thread and stop derailing things.

    The sprint cycle nomenclature indicates that your devs are working using a scrum organization. This technique specifically calls for all sprints to start with a meeting with the "product owner" who is supposed to be the end customer- not a proxy, not another dev, but a member of the end user community. That meeting is used to introduce new stories, size them, and choose backlog stories for the sprint. These stories (which are supposed to be written by the product owner- a customer) define the scope of work and the acceptance criteria. At the end of the sprint a retrospective is held, again with the product owner, to determine what worked and what didn't.

    I'd suggest you find out who is in the role of product owner and assuming it is someone in the dev organization that you blow the whistle on them up your own management chain as having devs prioritize the stories is not at all how it's supposed to work.

    As it relates to this game, we're users and not product owners. They get to pick their targets.

    That's exactly the problem I have with this survey: it's so generic that I simply don't know what concrete features I'm voting for. At the same time it seems to ignore all of the specific feature requests that have been made up to now. And to me it feels rather oldscool compared to modern voting systems that enable customers to formulate specific problems and feature requests and to track their relevance for the community and the dev team.

    There is something deeply wrong with modern society that we invented language like this... everytime I hear it... the feel of it is just so palpably disturbing.

    My comment is not directed at you specifically, but airing my thoughts more generally.

    And you're a native English speaker. Imagin for those who aren't... Took me at least 4 or 5 reads to feel I understood it all...

    But these and reasons for delays (or for "no changes planned for now") have been addressed specifically by Eleon's representatives. You probably missed this, not blaming you, this place has a long archive...

    Many of these can already be fixed by players with simple .ecf modding, which is plain text file edition. Several suggestions are opposed to other suggestions on same items/ objects. Most of the "low hanging fruits" fall into these categories. There are also hundreds (if not more) of "blocks shapes" requests "pending" but this will never end : the more shapes we have, the more missing joints/ caps/ intermediaries we will discover and ask for.

    And for the present survey, it's clearly written "for internal use" and we will not see the results. I'm ok with that.

    This I absolutely disagree with. A game should be playable and well-balanced without any need to hand-adjust it beforehand. It is not a development tool, it's not an IDE, it is neither an engineering software nor a CAD one. This is a game. It should be self-consistent and pleasant to play right out of the box.
    To put it short: if the modding required is so easy, why can't the game be shipped with such adjustment already done?
