@Myrmidon What the heck, with all due respect, you are way to salty about my comment and are taking my comment as a complaint and you took it "way too far". You're right, I have no clue as to the relevant status of said 3rd party. All I was doing is a suggestion of how they might bring in more revenue. You know, take it how you want. But thanks for taking my suggestion and tuning it into something it was never intended to be. If you want to comment negatively about something you clearly misunderstood, well that is your choice. Wow, for you being a Rear admiral, I would think better judgement and understanding would be called for. Rather than trying to judge me for what I say, try being understanding of what someone is trying to say rather than insinuating what you think they were trying to say. If your not sure about my "nonsense" then please asking questions to clarify, rather than automatically taking offence and commenting negatively toward me.

My friend. I was not trying to be salty at all. If you had attend the Q&A they are clear that they do not have financial issues and that they will continue to develop and improve the game in the following years. From what you try to do with your suggestion it is clear that you miss this information. You are the one who is judging the others here not me. I tried to provide you with material to fill the blanks you try to fill with assumptions. Finally I believe that the company is well aware of their financial status more than us the players. Unless you are some one of the team yourself. If not, then all you said is pure fantasy or trolling :)

Again : you don't know if they want or need more money, and showing off avatars if my last concern because lots of players have been waiting for years for this game to come to coompletion, and would be sincerely pissed off having to pay for cosmetics on top of that.

Ubisoft, EA, Bethesda... they all roll out bugged games, some incomplete (Bethesda at the top here) and they leave these games once done. Players have been used to this, and their forums are full of complaints, but it changes nothing.

You actually don't know if Eleon is/ is not using money "toward such things as described above" ; they are not talking about the way they manage their team and budget. Some of the top problems this game has may be due to Unity, and I doubt Eleon will hire someone to customize the game engine for them. These topics are far off from player's involvement, IMO.

I don't mind gifting copies when it's on sale. I've probably bought 10 copies over the years, but I don't believe this is their sole source of income. Just a guess, but in 5 years, we've been going at roughly the same update speed. I started in May or June 2016, so I'm basing this off of that

Yup, and I hate that. I don't buy games from those companies.
I will complain about that until it stops. Because it should stop.

No one knows but them, obviously. That's why I said if.

Good example. Something like that is exactly the thing I would throw excess cash at. Just a "here's money, now make this thing do what I want so our creative devs aren't paddling uphill."

But you're right and I agree, it's not any of our positions to decide or manage. Doesn't mean I can't throw the idea out there in case someone hasn't thought of it. Or just for the purpose of discussion. :)

Very much looking forward to some new models!
Any chance the new character models might include some updated animation? Maybe some motion-capture to make them feel more natural?

This exact same suggestion (with some additional details) has already been discussed on the forum, not long after the game went out of Early Access. I think most players who already gave their input on that thread may not want to open the same discussion anew.

To whom it corresponds, I just hope that you can add that line of code that allows to make the EAC work on Linux. So as not to kill me always alone.-

Other than sealed up in a suit with a diminishing air supply?

I won't disagree at all here - it would be pretty cool, but I think it's a bit out of the scope of the game. Remember, we're human explorers from Earth, somewhat accidentally catapulted into the Andromeda Galaxy by a calculated mishap, and displaced in time, so playing as an alien... doesn't exactly fit the base narrative.

What I would welcome is a bit more "Survivalism" - we do have a bit of a push to eat from time to time, but aside from the occasional "it's too hot" (or "it's too cold"), we don't have much of a push to drink anything, and let's be honest, we all pretty much either subsist on a steady diet of plant-protein bars or emergency rations, because, well, we'd rather spend our time blowing things up than surviving.

We've got one of the better systems for injuries/status effects, as well as progressive complications, but I'd love to see a bit more focus on the survival side of things, before we start delving into playing as something with some radically different biology.

Thanks for the reply and sharing a different opinion, Although I know there is more to being Alien than a "diminishing air supply", that was a bit insulting, but ok! Just wondering IndigoWyrd, how many hours do you have playing EGS?

Not so much, just a mere 2819.8 hours.
Too bad, if you feel insulted somehow by my pointing out that there is severe lack of anything beyond a diminishing air-supply when sealed up in a suit that would really differentiate some manner of "alien" being from some other kind of being. Perhaps if you'd have taken the time to explain what sort of "environmental requirements" you had in mind, and how this would interact in the game, in any sort of playable manner - something that would likely have taken less time than it does to selectively color certain words and get your encounter-suit breeches in a twist because someone else -gasp- dares to have the audacity to think in a manner that is different than yours. Had my intention been to insult, you would very much know it.

So please, clarify what your intent is here - explain these "environmental requirements". I could expand on them, from my perspective, but that will likely differ from yours, and I don't want to speak on your behalf. Also, be sure to include some game-engine mechanics as to how this might be implemented, ideally, without having to undergo a fundamental redesign of the current game mechanics to accommodate them.

Most importantly, keep in mind, I am not trying to shoot down your idea - in fact, I actually like the idea itself, but I do have to wonder about both the feasibility of such a proposal, as well as what impact it would have on the underlying premise of the game. Keep in mind that "humans", like the player-character, technically ARE the aliens in Andromeda. This isn't a "human" galaxy, these aren't "human" worlds we're exploring. Humans were catapulted here, and technically are the "invasive species".

Let's further expand on this as well into how it would translate into the single-player survival mode of the game. How does whatever species you envision playing integrate into the story? What are the motivations? Objectives? Reasons for getting out of bed in the morning (or night, depending on "environmental requirements")?

And while I'm at it, how long have you been playing?

Somewhere in Discord this had been answered. It has to do with copyright or something. No we cannot play other races.

I doubt "copyright" has anything to do with this.

Playing as one of the actual "alien species" we have in the game could be possible, but it would require a separate storyline for each, and the main storyline is not even quite completed for the ( canon ) human faction.

It would also require making different player character models, and a whole different set of blocks, weapons and devices, to fit what the other factions usually have at their disposal. It would require the factions system to be re-worked to allow humans to be governed by AI, and some work would still have to be done for human facion equivalents of drones and patrol vessels.

Obviously, it's more complex than simply making a few skins for players. So it has very little to do with "copyright" and much more to do with complexity and amount of work required.

By the way, something I noticed a long time ago but never thought of mentioning on the forum : even in a totally "void" space playfield with a GalaxyConfig.ecf modded to the bone to have very faint and small stars, there are still these strange "dust" particles all around the player floating around in random directions. Against the usual bright colored nebulas and big stars and zillion asteroids, they go relatively unnoticed. But when I try to make space look more like "real" space, then these become quite disturbing, as they are bigger than most stars around and look like some of the stars are moving, or that they are distant objects like vessels flying around.

There is no way presently to remove this environmental effect...

I find them most noticeable when I'm creating a ship/base in space and they bleed through the walls... it busts my 'murshun' when doing a walkthrough.
So yeah, being able to turn them off would be a good thing in my view.

"I.D.A., what happened to my body? These scales? These extra limbs? The fact that this methane fog feels oddly soothing?"

"You didn't read the fine print when you signed the cryosleep waiver, did you?"

    ---

In regards to the space dust, that's one of those things that -- however unrealistic it seems -- would feel wrong if you removed it, because of how vital it is to your awareness of speed and direction of motion when flying.

I'll use the usual player "catchall" phrase : "make it optional". In fact I did not ask for it to be removed : I asked for a way to remove it, like other environmental effects in the various playfield.yaml files.

Like I explained, in vanilla they're almost unnoticeable, apart against a dark background. But they could probably make the effect adjustable, both in size and quantity, or simply removeable. Even in the context you describe, some may find that given the amount of particles, this almost looks like star parallax like what we see in movies, and that's a little too much for me.

True, the scaling can be problematic sometimes. Moreso with the bird-sized mosquitos that make me duck away from my monitor when I see them.
