Why is the motorcycle handling so laughably bad? It's been years since I have played, but I am pretty sure you had fixed the turning radius. As a first impression, it makes me want to abandon the game again because it feels like a completely useless form of transportation. If the developers can't fix that, then what makes a new player think the rest of the game is worth playing. It doesn't need to be a motocross game, but you should at least make it driveable.
The devs have said they have plans to remove the motorcycle entirely at some point. Replace it with something that behaves like an HV, I think. As such I'm pretty sure they have no plans to fix or modify the motorcycle at all. The reason it turns so bad is it's tied to FPS for some goofy reason. Set FPS to 30 and it'll work like a dream. (just to see what I mean, that is by no means a suggested workaround)
Hu?! So that is why people are complaining about it Since I am playing at minimum fps, I have never really seen any problem with it except the fact that we can't reajust the camera.
Before replacing the Motorbike with a Hoverbike that can't go up hills it might be worthwhile to get the HV to go up hills. Don't throw it away just cos it's broken... fix it. I don't like this new disposable society... grrrrr!
Yeah that thing turns so bad I refuse to use it most times, I'd rather walk. The rare times I do use it, I set it down in the direction I want to go, then instead of turning, I stop (usually by running into something .... it's quicker), pick it up, and set it back down again facing the new direction. You can pretty easily make a cheap HV to gather wood, to turn into fuel to power a cheap SV all on day one, so I wont miss the motorcycle when its gone. I've even checked to see if the vendors would buy it. Turns out even they know it's not worth anything.
I submit that we replace the motorcycle with a pogo stick, thus embracing the joy of the jump sprint for stamina conservation, but with more height, speed and jump distance. So cool The bike is actually so much better than it once was (amazing but true) but we do appear to have lost the turbo boost at some point - I liked that. The steering is terrible though, as are the wonky physics. That said, it can be incredibly useful during the very early-game, especially as it's so cheap in v1.8. Good for crossing flat, open areas, terrible at anything more than a shallow slope. Should replace it with a wearable "hover pack" so we can zoom over the landscape about a metre above the ground...
The easiest and best thing to do would be leave it alone and add whatever you want, I enjoy the motorbike and Never use the free hover vehicle , after all it's not like it's taking up a game slot... is it?
Still the only wheeled vehicle in the game. To be fair though, I am having a bit of a hard time seeing what would actually make a suitable replacement. HV's are notorious for both their terrible handling of slopes, both ascending and descending. Many simply fail to ascend, without the assistance of one or more thrusters, which can then essentially turn HV's into fairly long-range gliders. When descending, many are prone to burying their noses in terrain, causing them to either come to a full and immediate halt, flip or roll over, or just generally behave in a manner than leaves one scratching their heads. Additionally, these largely tend to perform badly when used in underground tunnels, either becoming badly stuck, or requiring extensive modification of any tunnels to accommodate passage. They also tend to be much further along the tech tree, placing them out-of-reach for very early game - and I've yet to see any with the portability of the motorbike, which can make it nearly invaluable.
