With version 1.6 you can earn Explorer Tokens by discovering ores, planet and moon types and sun classes the first time. Trade in the Explorer Tokens at a Galactic Information Network (GIN) station to increase your rank with the EXPLORERS GUILD & collect EPIC rewards that are only available there, like the upgrade Kits for getting EPIC Detectors for HV and CV as well as a BA Teleporter with increased range and the Epic Warpdrive for CV Token can be earned in numbers for: - discover ores: 17 (triggers on pickup) - discover planet types + moons: 22 (triggers when landing on the planet/moon) - discover sun classes: 10 (triggers on warp-in) - discover home planets: 6 (triggers on entering orbit around a faction homeworld) - Trading Station (1) Total: 56 Please note: there might be special playfields and sun classes that do NOT trigger the Exploration Token reward. Like ContAr13b7 is a Black Hole but also a special area. Same accounts for the actual home planets of factions (whereas discovering the home planet ITSELF gives an Exploration token by entering its orbit. Landing on it does not give an additional Token.) and a few other special places. The Exploration Token are currently given for the more 'default game elements'.
I really liked this addition... running around getting the tokens added a nice incentive to explore, and good to have some new toys to play with. I will say that the epic teleporter is, on it's own, less useful in solo play - as you can effectively only do a big jump one way! I'd change it so that you get two upgrades at this level, so you can set up a two way long distance teleport array.
I think this system is good, but I hope it’s only an early version that will change as the games progression gets worked on. It doesn’t seem very well balanced to have some of the most powerful items in the game acquired through nothing but exploration. Some of the items, like the epic warp drive should be given out for like a serious mission reward. Sometime in the end game. The way it’s set up now, a total noob could get all this end game stuff just by mining pentaxid and flying around in a basic CV.
Interesting. I like the concept. In fact you can make it the player earns tokens by visiting unexplored playfields in general and spend them in exp points to increase skills regarding mining, shooting warping scanning ranges etc.
I think I posted this before in suggestions a while back but since this is a dedicated thread: I really like the addition. The game sorely needs incentives to explore the galaxy. I think one way to improve it would be to have artifact hunting missions. This could be a way to expand the lore of the game too. It would provide incentive to land on planets and find alien structures or explore dead civilizations and discover the history of the galaxy. The player could search for clues that would lead to the location of the artifacts.
Glad you like it ... and xes, absolutely planned to be extended! The Exploration token missions was just a start. After I am done with all that tutorial setup for 1.8 I would like to continue on the Exploration (and other galaxy-wide quests).
Are there any plans to allow the PDA to spawn POIs and/or patrol vessels? That would add a lot of possibilities for exploration missions.
Is this outdated? So far I've found 55, distributed like this: 16 ores 21 planets/moons 9 sun classes 8 home planets 1 trading station Edit: Found another resource now (for a total of 17), and read in the PDA that there are 60 explorer tokens to be found.
Very Elitist comment. Without exploration, America would never have been discovered ... oh ... wait ... was that a good thing, or not?
I have only found 16 resources, and they are all on the Wiki, except for Ice. So far, I've found Aluminum, Cobalt, Copper, Erestrum, Gold, Ice, Iron, Magnesium, Neodymium, Pentaxid, Platinum, Promethium, Sathium, Silicon, Titanium, and Zascosium. Crushed Stone is on the list on the Wiki, but does not provide an Explorer Token. I'd like to add the name of the last resource to the Wiki. Can you tell me the name of the last Resource? Thanks!
You are missing Wood, Water, Crushed Stones nad Carbon. 20 resources found, 4 of them do not grant an exploration token… Should it be considered a bug or is it how it is supposed to be? The TS mentions 17.
It is intended. The T0 resources (wood, carbon, stone, water) do not hava a token and they are always visible in that list because of that.
Sounds fair. I feel like I've found mostly everything, 56 exploration tokens, took me some time and effort though. I don't seem to find "Moon ice 2" and I guess there should be one, as the other discovered type is stated as "Moon ice 1". No luck after visiting 70+ systems.
