Also decided to take a look at some of the construction sets Vermillion has been making. Found the Talon set a little un-intuitive, but the Polaris to be quite extensive. So I think I will refurbish the Polaris Asset Protection: Gonna take a bit...
I really did not like the "CV strapped to the roof" look of the small carrier I was working on so I scrapped the entire upper deck and rebuilt it. I'm hoping that this looks better, I also widened the bays since there is less space in the middle (stashed a few devices between the bays).
Well, i'm using my "unintuitive" Talon set to make talon POIs. I'm up to 31 so far, and these are the two I did today. Temperate and Desert variants.
*sigh* That lasted all of ten minutes; I sat down and started to clear the base and then realized that I should probably redo the basement/lower sections and was not as emotionally interested - at least, right now. I still want to refurbish it, but will wait till I am really driven. Maybe a Polaris Asteroid mining base or something?
Today I started works on a new CV. Nothing to fency, Will take some time as it will be one of my largest so far projected CV's. Working Title OPTIO - First Part of the Bridge Structure
Posted a couple new designs to the workshop yesterday. If a Colonial Viper and an X-Wing had a baby, you might get the Viper-X. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2849689207 I'm also having fun with this castle as an Omicron stronghold. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2849894080
Banged my head against the design for my largest combat worthy CV yet for some hours. Marrying my vision for visuals with the lessons about PE combat learned from my smaller ships proved more difficult then I expected, but I finally managed to make an outer shell I am if not happy, then at least content with, together with a decent thruster placements and a hangar large enough for Valkyrie (which will probably get another pass to make it better looking and maybe better performing.) I made the hull out of Xeno steel, because it's harder and lighter than combat steel and this is supposed to be a late game-ish ship (meaning cost doesn't really matter), but when marking the spots for turrets I realised I won't be able to paint the hull the way I want, due to an... unfortunate lack of textures of Xeno steel. Thus the next step on my agenda is to turn all the Xeno steel to carbon by console commands, so I can paint away, and then making an Xeno steel armor layer (probably double layer - lag shot spikes under carbon and full blocks in 2nd layer) under that. I will need to place some Xeno steel back to the outer most layer to cover the vulnerable spots - thrusters, hangar door etc... but those I can deal with. The basic shape is done, though there is some detailing to be done.
Here's the Talon Market POI (Temperate version) I did, since just a desert version isn't enough. I had to update some parts today for an upcoming RG release. I'll do a snow version soon enough, but for today here's the Talon Lumber Yard (Snow version) that I built today. I'll be doing the temperate version tomorrow. I've already built one, but I don't like it, so i'll redo it.
This is just the sort of scene that makes different planets different and a massive reason for Eleon to revisit their "we're not doing wheels" policy, After all just look at third world countries where donkeys/cows and motorbikes can be seen laden with goods, carts being pulled by impoverished farmers, and meanwhile His lordship has a private jet in his back yard... all without crossing the border. I love the thought of finding these sorts of places while planet hopping, Midwest 1950's farmers, Dark ages 'grime and punishment' Hyperspacebase, with favours/missions/trade/crimes to be undertaken in each one, wheels are part of the cycle of development and we mustn't lose them, we need moar. Oh yeah.... Fantastic Vermillion
Take my love, take my land, Take me where I cannot stand. I don't care, I'm still free, You can't take the sky from me. Take me out to the black, Tell them I ain't comin back. Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me. There's no place, I can be, Since I've found Serenity. And you can't take the sky from me.
And here's that Temperate Lumber Yard for today. I did 3 other builds as well, but they're classified.
Yeah, but that aint what I was thinking, my belief is that a mobile phone is no use to a caveman, but when push comes to shove a spaceman will use a club and spear. hence many enjoyable scenarios can be built using an older technological baseline. and yeah, FOX missed the space rocket right there (pfft, one series played in the wrong order at the wrong time and labled it... space comedy)
After the Success of My 1989 Batmobile, i decided to make the Animated Series version. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2857886434
Still goofing around with the fly bridge. The first attempt is on the left, the current attempt is on the right. I don't know, it's turning out to be very similar to the Surinam carrier and I was hoping to avoid releasing a build that is essentially the same thing as another one.
Been building a massive castle, and as a "vacation," spent some time building a few cars. My latest is a rework of a fairly popular old build of mine. basically a higher tier, better armored Back to The future Delorean Hover vehicle that is actually airtight.
