For more information see here Bug Report Template Build: v1.10.7 4260 Mode: Survival (SP and MP) & Creative SERVER NAME: Official EU SEED-ID: If applicable: MODIFIED PLAYFIELDS: Reproducibility: 100% Severity: Minor to Major Type: Block Symmetry Summary: Block Symmetry Placement Description: - Reproduction 1 (please see below the pictures for Reproduction 2) When you're using Symmetry mode building in survival if you happen to place a block in an empty space which on the other side of the symmetry plane already has a block, that block will be replaced with the same shape. For some reason this only works when you are building with the drone. It's also worth noting the same thing happens whether you are placing a single block or a multiple blocks at once (holding down shift and drag). Steps to Reproduce: 1) Start a survival game 2) Grab yourself a base starter and a couple of blocks 3) Place the base starter 4) Place one block on one side 5) Put symmetry plane on (I've used YZ in the pics) 6) Press F5 to activate the drone 7) Using the drone change the block shape to something else (go wild, pick your favourite shape!! ) 8) Place block 9) Review the results Screenshots, Crash Logs, any other Relevant Information or Download links: Description: - Reproduction 2 This one is slightly different and works in creative (possibly survival too but I haven't tested it, you also do not need to be using the drone for this which for me is why the severity is possibly higher as builders might not even recognise it's happening. Essentially when you are creating an area using shift+drag click with symmetry on, it doesn't work quite right. It's easier to see with the pictures below than to describe it. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Start a creative game 2) Remove a section of blocks from the base you start on 3) Put symmetry mode on (I'm using XY) 4) Change the shape so it's not a full block (time for your favourite shape again!!) 5) Hold down shift and drag click the blocks to fill the area but also extend the area past the hole 6) Observe how the blocks you have actually placed comes out correctly whereas the symmetry placed blocks have not only placed the intended blocks but overwritten blocks that should not have been changed. Still an issue as of May 2024. I keep getting caught by this in creative when dragging out a line of blocks that overlap existing ones, which works fine on the side I'm placing and completely overwrites every block on the mirror side.
