    Build: 4711
    Mode: Single Player
    Platform: Steam
DLC Installed: Yes - IS Injected

    SERVER NAME: NA
    SEED-ID:

    If applicable:
    MODIFIED PLAYFIELDS:

    Reproducibility: Random
    Severity: Medium - High

    Type: Build Prohibiting Behavior

Summary: When building a voxel gets taken up by an invisible entity no longer allowing player to place blocks in that location. Leaves Gaps in build that could potentially be destructive and inefficient.

Description: This game I began I first ran around and scooped up as many basic resources around the Crash Site as I could. Once I was full I created a Portable and dropped it at a random location with nothing around. I created a base starter and dropped it near the portable and began building a pillar around it. One face of the starter core is exposed and something is blocking my ability to put a block in front of the core.
I tried to clear terrain thinking maybe it was a clipping issue at first. It is not.
I cannot remember if that specific spot had an ore or stone or tree node. As I am aware that these things can cause a ghost space.
As a survival player I don't wish to use creative and Commands to remove the build and re-drop again as it breaks the immersion.

Steps to Reproduce: Other than the knowledge that deco / resource items can create these spaces It seems random. I've even had it happen in space builds in random orbits. I do not know if I built over something I had already gleaned for resources prior to beginning building.

Ghost blocks have been a fairly common problem for years now, but I've never been able to pin down a way to reproduce it at will.

Even just the other day I had a ghost block on a base I was working on in creative in space.

I've been playing for 6 years or so.
I had never encountered the ghost block until in the past 2 years. More this past year alone than the last.
Seeming to happen at least once per every 5 -7 builds.
When I get back into the game save I'm gonna try to intentionally create some via the 'missing deco' way to see if that makes one every time or not so much.
But those that appear in open space or where you Know for sure there was nothing. Those are the oddest. Nothing to justify that voxel being occupied.
Other than an Older pointer given by Akeeva Banshee... NPC spawners are invisible. If you build over one it'll create a ghost block. It was suggested to use a satchel charge and simply Blow the Spawner from existence. Seems to be something that Use to work.

That wouldn't apply to player builds though, since player builds won't have npc spawners and they show up in creative anyway.
