This is such a neat idea. You could probably turn off the thrusters in the wrecks too. The speed of the ship is set in the playfield anyway.
Likely too cold. Moons can be cold at night. Hypothermia will drain your stamina which then drains your food to regenerate it.

It applies to NPCs so soldiers, and I'm pretty sure drones too. It's the "enemy difficulty" setting. Also affects their damage.
You can also lower npc health in the difficulty settings, if you haven't already.
