I haven't noticed this myself testing single player or on a server, but anything is possible! :D
Can't be done because those caches are needed in multiplayer to make sure every player has what they need even if another player came and salvaged...
It sounds like you're playing on a server. Use offline protection to protect your base while you are offline, but this will depend on the server...
