The only reason the save is big would be if you've visited many planets. They only instantiate (get copied into the save) when you visit them. So I could make a lighter version, but it would be as heavy as the 50 planet version with 15-20 planets visited
Then I think your modified sectors and playfields reveal a soon to be encounter problem with the save games once the developers add more planets in the vanilla version. Things might need to change in order to get faster copy and backup in the game.
Are you backing up the entire Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games directory, or just the current game? If the former, then you are picking up all of your old games as well. I'm looking at a game with all 50 planets loaded that I used to check for errors, and it's 94MB in size. I haven't obviously visited any POIs yet, however. I'm also looking at a game a couple of us have played, visited 3 planets and their moons and orbits, knocked out POIs, mined asteroids, and it's 33MB. Not sure what is happening here.
Okay i've got to say you've done a superb job on this Andargor. I love what you've done underwater, whole rock fields, plants - really felt like a reason to explore down there. Groves of plants dotted around which differ depending on biome - awesome. So my way of saying thanks I converted my current Base build a bit on Keng Yen-cheng to the "Palace of Andargor" featuring statues of when you are happy, when a planet build has gone well and an Angry Andargor when a planet build hasnt Plus a few other amenities like racing hover dock, drinks terrace, fishing platform - a few home comforts. Once steam lets me upload more pics will do but here's the link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=929668449 Thanks for all your work creating these planets its been brilliant fun playing them
I have Steam wont let me upload at the moment (even though they've been converted to jpegs) Edit: finally - will grab a better placement shot forgot to change Omicron to day when I took it
Nice work! I am honored. Small detail, my twin brother Andragor is the Destroyer of Worlds, but he's dyslexic too.
Considering the debacle that is POI regen and the fact that you have so many planets with so many POI's my gut feeling is leave regen out - its not like you're going to run out of POI's. You could always turn it on for a few select places. Lets face it this is a "solution" to a multi-player server problem with limited planets shoved onto single-player/small co-op for testing purposes. Glad I didn't upload your last planet list with this on (well I downloaded but didn't apply it) as this has rendered the starting planets useless giant endless loot fests
Why in my save files folder I see this? I have only visited the vanilla planets and the GX Huang Ti planet from your mod. If I delete all the non visited planets they will be copied on the folder of my saves again!!! Is this normal?
If you don't mind, I'll hold until the (imminent?) 6.0 release and see what's what before making another update. EDIT: An update has dropped, taking a look at it...
Yeah, I'm packaging the next version, and while checking I noticed it makes 1 directory per planet with 3MB of images in each, even though I only visited a few planets and didn't specify any preview images. It still only copies visited planets in the Templates directory, but the save is still huge. Nothing I can do about it right now, but I will look for a solution, maybe specifying my own preview pictures which are tiny. I'm afraid I don't have the will or time to manage two versions at this time, it would be a pain, so I'm sticking with 50 planets, sorry EDIT: I filed a bug report.
Considering the plan for them is to have a bunch of solar systems with their own planets, then yes, since this doesn't scale.
Cheers for the regen removal - it was no challenge to fly to every civilian poi - loot them all in a circuit and oh look they had all respawned loot crates - you never needed to mine nor farm - looks like the change in sp is now twice only - but ah well they'll crack it to keep the HelloKitty online brigade happy i'm sure.
I'm getting a lot of complaints about bugs on the Pandora Research Planet. We've had people not able to mine, not able to get back on the planet and ported to another planet, and falling through the planet. I've gotten the latest update. Any word on any changes for this planet?
As far as I know I think the fall through planet is a bug reported. Why don't you check the bugs thread to be sure your self?
