I just tried this again in Alpha 10 to see if anything had changed about the experience, and it was still the same. The description says it is "like survival" but it really isn't. The worlds are empty. There are no POI, nor any resource deposits. Therefore, it can't really be used as any sort of a "test" mode for anything, because there is no opposition. We already have a mode like that - it is called Creative. The only difference between Freedom mode, and Creative mode, that I could find is that there are some enemy creatures that can attack you - but they don't do any damage. I'd like to test my creations by attacking POI. Right now the only way to do that is Survival. I wanted to test the new mining changes. But I can't do that outside of Survival either. I think the mode, as it is now, is useless and should just be removed. Or fix it into something that has some defined purpose. Right now I can't understand its purpose. It seems nearly identical to Creative except you start by crash landing.
I think having "Options" connected to game play is always a good thing, and the more the better. I truly feel that having more options, only "Enhances" long term gam play!
