The Intrepid (CV) and Blackfly (SV) have been my workhorse machines for most of my time playing Empyrion both Single and Multiplayer. They have slowly evolved over 300 hours to the state they are today. CV: Intrepid (front) CV: Intrepid (back) SV: Blackfly (front) SV: Blackfly (back) Intrepid hanger carrying Blackfly
Your mind cannot comprehend how much directional thrusters this thing has.Wayyyyy over 60.The fuel consumption for this ship is a survivor's worst nightmare. It has so much thrusters that when I try to group them up the game freezes for around 5-6 seconds untill it unfreezes and puts the thruster into the group.Imagine doing that for over 60 directional thrusters lol. So in conclusion.Putting a ridiculous amount of thrusters doesn't solve the problem.
My large CV turns fine and thrusters have nothing to do with it. it's all in the RCS placement and having enough power to run them. don't go by your power usage as RCS's do not report correctly, make sure you have much more power than it shows you need. if your usage is over 10% you probably need more Generators.
hmm then only other solution i can think of is hollow out the walls, anywhere there is usless blocks. Gotta get t he weight down.
I had a similar issue until I started a policy of laying down one RCS for every directional thruster. In fact, when I laid out the framework for my latest CV, I used RCS units as markers: 1RCS for every 10 hull blocks. This ensured the ship had maneuvering capability built into it. At a 1 RCS per thruster ratio, my CV "almost" handles like a SV. 'Course, she also only weighs in at 25 kilotonnes, so wight may play a factor in that too.
Here it is.The Antonov 550.Its still not completely finished. If anyone can find how to solve the maneuverability problem of the ship please let me so so I can correct the blueprint. Disclaimer:This thing is massive so expect lag and perforamce issues. Enjoy!
Okay first off DAMN beautiful. I got lost so hard inside her. Damn elevators trapped me. I love this ship. Now I got her moving. Not fast but I could make a 360 in about 25 seconds up down. It took 60 RC'S the placement of them needs work and it may require a few less or more. I did the number crunch based off @Times05 s experiments. I did 10 up front 10 in rear 10 on roof and 30 spaced throughout. But 60 got her moving. I think you could experiment from there sir!
Dude this ship is massive! Great design, especially love the rear of the ship, reminds me of underground racing cars back when Need for Speed Underground was the thing (the first one, not the newer one). As you stated this thing is a beast to turn lol. It accelerates quickly enough though. I haven't experimented with placements of RCS yet (newbie designer haha) but will keep a close on this thread for some pointers from others in the community. Thanks for the up!
Finished my first complete CV, the White Star, anything that I missed, or tips on making it better is appreciated. Also, feel free to modify anything (I myself am going to change the paint job). I wanted the outside to be pretty close to the actual ship, except for the size; it's scaled down by 1/2. For the inside however, I believe only three rooms were shown in the Babylon 5 series, so it is not exact. This is my first attempt on building a capital vessel. I built it in creative and learned enough in doing so, I present you the USCCS Prometheus from the last Alien SpinOff. Actually when I first saw that film in 3d I was really impressed by that giant and crazy looking ship. Hope yo'll like this attempt in building it. Size: 88m x 116 x 44 Weight: 19kt Thruster: tooo much . Just for the looks Generators: 33 RCS: 37 Run Time: 21h landed on ground, thrusters off 16 min flying with full thottle in wicked angle on omicron Unfortunately we have no huge cargo elevator so far. The original design has one for the ground vehicle. So no way to dock a hv here right now. Kalonji
So I have started building a Galactica and have run into Disappearing blocks at the rear end at 220 Blocks i built off the front and realized i had 38 Blocks before they became invisible. So thinking that it was the distance from the core i moved the core 38 blocks aft and still cant build off back.. So i guess (for now) it will need to be just 2/3rds of the Galactica. Having run out of real estate i decided to not put as much attention detail on the positioning of the nacelles. they will be close but not as much as i like having run into the size limitations kinda deflated my drive to completion. i have maybe 60 Hrs into this ship and probably have a few hundred to go it will be missing last 3rd and some of the length of the nacelles. I will continue the build and hope that it gets fixed.. will not mind starting over have learned so much in getting this far lot of things i can change and improve on. the build is currently at 25.4 kt if anyone has any suggestions you can add me in steam or tweet me or just catch me when im streaming the build. Steam Name: Renegade_Nole @GrandpaGamez and this is at 25.4 KT LOL its going to get heavier!
It has been a while since I last tested this, pre 4.0, but the limit is (was) 256 total or 128 from center. Center is the center of the starter block and last I knew this cannot be changed. Relocating the core, as you have discovered, does not changes this. Good Luck with your BG build =)
Thanks man as i suspected. Still fun and a tremendous learning experience. Dreaming of a 1:1 ratio i know its crazy ! think about it though... 1500 m long 5-600 or so wide and roughly 250 High... and BTW Love the Foamy Avatar haha
CV Steelhazen This ship is designed for use as your home in space and especially for when the procedural galaxy come along. What this means is that there is a really large docking bay for all of the vessels you would take with you. The extra room is good for day to day operations with SV with a lot of elbow room. Cargo containers in the docking bay for guns and ammo storage. There is a catwalk to access the cargo containers that are also accessed in the main bridge/engineering room as well as access from the docking bay to the large constructor. There is space next to the large constructor to add an advanced constructor. No weapons so that you can add and configure as you want - lots of places for turrets. There is a lot of farming on this ship (54 pots) because if you live in space it is a pain to wait for plants to grow. This way when they mature you can do a bunch of food production and get it over with. Also there are 10 refrigerators to give storage for eggs, eggplants, meat, and milk, etc. If you are like me you do resource runs and come back with bunches of meat and milk, etc. Plenty of space on this ship to customize.
Heh yeah, nice Whitestar Rayah. I laughed for a long while when I saw you trying to replicate those silly Minbari beds
Lol, yea; the beds were actually the first thing I thought of before I even started building the ship.
Just finished my small version MCRN Donnager, Martian warship, 150 blocks long. It can reach max speed, but turns really slow. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=614516430 Steam Workshop I have one close to full sized at 320 blocks long (50k blocks without interior), but there isn't enough power or thrusters to get this thing moving.
