Apparently I'm one of the few, but I don't like the carbon recipe changes or the payouts from harvested carbon. Carbon is the 4th most common element in the universe but yet you've made it on par with more rare elements like copper, iron, and silicon. It defies expectations and logic. Please keep the old recipe, it made way more sense. And increase the output and quantity of the carbon rocks and nodes to be more in line with reality.

It think carbon just isn't implemented into most of the planet/moon playfields yet. It's not in any of their playfield_static files, except for the Crown sector moons.

One predictable side effect of making carbon its own resource is that crushed stone is even less valuable now. I was already processing most of it into ore in previous versions, so I guess it's not that big of a change. I tend to think this would make laser drills less desirable, since they tend to by-catch far more stone than other drills, but that's mostly my personal preference.

In the real world, yes carbon is common, but since it's really reactive, it's mostly CO2.

On Earth, carbon deposits are relatively rare (coal, oil, methane) and quite valuable natural resources. Wars fought, etc.

These easily harvestable deposits of Carbon are the result of life (plants) *fixing* carbon. You won't find coal on nascent, barren, lifeless planets. You might find coal in asteroids (smashed up planetary remnants).

You'll find *loads* of methane or other hydrocarbons down deep in a gas giant gravity well, so good luck with that. Gas Giant moons should have a frozen methane variety.

So, considering mapping to "real universe" yeah carbon is common, but *usable* carbon is not. It has potential if used correctly.

With our current technological level in the real world your argument has some, (albeit debatable), merit, but in this game we can build a portable constructor that can break down rock and get iron, copper, silicon, and carbon so no, I don't buy this excuse. Carbon is in all plant life and animal life in the game. If the constructor can sift it out of rocks it can sift it out of them too. I maintain carbon should be the easiest thing to get in this game.

Hell, the mining tool and survival tool can teleport it to our inventories directly just by aiming at something with it in it, and you're still going to sit there and try and sell me on the idea it should be just as difficult as other elements? Right.

Would it be possible to give the New Designed Promethium Rocks a bit more Glow?
At night it can't be differentiated if the 'Rock' is a Rock or a Promethium Rock - >

Started on swamp planet, made it to level 15 and still no carbon substrate so no constructor. this is a little frustrating.

I've done 2 servers starting on the swamp planet, and the carbon rocks are all over the place... this sounds like either you aren't realizing them when you see them, or something is glitched with your install...
