I would like to make french fries out of potatos instead of durian In general, more standard materials to make food from
Incorrect. Recoilles Rifles (or guns, as smoothbores still get called rifles with the pre-requisite rifling for some reason) are firing shells that allow gases to escape out of the rear to offset the projectile. They are closer in operation to a "normal" gun in the fact that the propellant does not go with the projectile, but merely expels it from the weapon. A Rocket Launcher while similar in appearance, is different in operation because the projectile itself is powered. In short, a recoilless rifle/gun is firing bullets, but rocket launchers fire rockets. I'd love to see potatoes, beans, and possibly lettuce as crop options. I'd also like to see more meat and veggie combos to account for different planet's plant life. Also, FISH. We have Lemons, not delicious fish or crustaceans to eat!
I actually assumed Durian was another name for Potato since playing this game. Looking it up now, it appears to be ... a type of fruit? The heck? Definitely replace with Potatoes, or add Potatoes as a separate thing, but make fries require them instead. Anyway, what I really came to this thread to say, was... More recipes! Food values can be changed for balance, of course. ------- Crops: Lettuce/Cabbage: Can be grown like other crops. Similar food value to raw tomatoes. Potatoes: Because why are we using durians? --- Meals: Pumpkin Bread (Flour + Pumpkin) 80 Food value (slightly more than standard bread) Steak Sandwich (Steak + Bread) 120 Food value Deli Sandwich (Bread + Salami + Steak + Tomatoes + Lettuce) 180 Food value Salad (Lettuce/Cabbage + Tomatoes) 75 Food value Steak Salad (Steak + Salad) 100 Food value Steak Salad Sandwich (Steak Salad + Bread) 125 Food value Fruit Salad (Pearthing + Akua Fruit) 80 Food value Baked Potato: (Potato + Cheese) 90 Food value Corned Beef and Cabbage (2x Raw Meat + 2x Cabbage + Water) 200 Food value ------- Will add more if I think of any
Fries is such a generic term. In North america it short for french cut potatoes deep fried. So really fries is only talking about a cooking method I see nothing wrong with the Durian fruit You can have things like Durian seeds, yam fries, beat fries, Zucchini Sticks, Bean fries, pumpkin fries, and carrot fries to name a few. I agree the picture is inappropriate for the recipe though.
Mmm, now I want to make me some sweet potato fries. Both in RL and the game. (Yams are technically a variety of sweet potato for those confused about the jump.)
Exactly. From everything I've heard, durians are nasty. I seriously think if Mark Watney had been stranded with only a durian crop to survive, he'd have walked out of that habitat and taken off his helmet on Day ONE.
You have more lights than are necessary, too. Each one can cover a 3x3 set of planters. Just pop the light above the middle planter. I personally go with canned meat for my food. 1 tomato and 1 piece of meat. It gives 170 food (I think) and lasts for ages.
For starters they reek. It's illegal in some countries to carry them on public transport for that reason. Reputedly they taste better than they smell but that was not my experience. It wasn't bad enough to induce vomiting but my curious colleague and I - who both have relatively broad palettes - both spat ours out and needed to brush our teeth. It was truly vile. I eat them in the game, though, and appreciate having at least some vegetarian options.
You and the others are sad creatures for not being able to find delight in eating durian. I love the fruit and the smell. How could you say they reek? Something is wrong with your nose Regarding food, I would like some more space-age food like algae and hydroponic cultivation instead of this farm plot thing. Why can't you hang them up to save some space? And instead of one cultivar per cube, it would make sense to allow growing some plants together.
Does walking on a planter too much destroy the crop, similarly to Minecraft's system? I haven't made a farm yet, just because I can subsist on meat and I'm busy building war machines and expanding my sphere of influence.
It's just too bad your nose doesn't have the capability to enjoy that fragrance. I guess you lack the gene.
While I'm tempted to make this an us vs. them sorta thing (a cursory Google search shows quite quickly what most people think of the durian's smell), I'm just gonna guess that it's an acquired taste. For example, I used to hate beer. Then I started drinking it. Now I love the taste. I am still confused why such an obscure fruit is in the game in place of a more common one, but that's neither here nor there.
I completely understand your sentiment, but it's not an acquired taste in this case. I've always been able to eat and enjoy durian. The same chemical can smell very different to different people. In this case, my genetics allowed me to find durian fragrant. Believe it or not, some people find that skunk smells like burnt toast. Also, durian is only an obscure fruit to non-Asian...well some Asian also don't like the smell but we consider them mutant.
You're a game developer who has encountered this hellish fruit and have a slightly dark sense of humour. So you put it in your game and cackle occasionally at the hilarity of so many people consuming it in your world.
I like the food crafting and growingsystem over all, i don't like the stack managment, i m able to stack xxx gray hullblocks but i can't stack my canned meat or vegetables even twice, i buy eggs in my town in 6 packs, but in the future off Empyrion they still didn't found out how to stack egg's for transport and warehouse . i could live with 9 or 10 stacks each but currently its just a clickfest to cook Plants should grow at daylight - at least on aqua where water air and sun is available. That i can't craft food on constructor for SV's i also don't understund Suggestion for eating canned food. There should be some steel plate left in the inventory after eating :=)
