Yea I agree slam, but alot of people seem to get really upset by this. There really isnt a proper solution, they monitor workshop and stuff but its a band aid fix, realistically we just have to accept some people will do this and move on. Besides I know I would rather our devs doing game features not policing the workshop. So if you dont like it, maybe dont upload to workshop the blueprint but rather just screenshot and forget about workshop, or at some point your probably just going to have to accept it as a fact of Steam ! Some people get so worked up by what happens on workshop they start threads here but the trolls on workshop visit here also, so I bet there just laughing there gutz out. Workshop is workshop and the same thing happens in SE workshop. Empyrion has the same issue because its the same people ! We are all just space monkeys lost in the woods ! [ of Akua !!! ] I love the workshop, its a great feature, there was one moderator who stated if it keeps happening he would request the removal of workshop from the game entirely but I dont think that is practical or viable and would cost far more players than it appeased so I think it was a heat of the moment reaction, but workshop is so vital to this games creative players and theres alot of them, taking workshop out of the game is a very bad idea, why would any of us bother building at all if that happens. Workshop has brought thousands of players to the game.
Agreed. Plus...: One of the best things we can do against Trolls is turn our backs to them, our Deaf Ears to them, & starve them. Don't feed the Trolls.
Or maybe your Creations are so awesome & brilliant they can't comprehend your work TO try to Copy them. Might be just plain way too over their tiny little brains...
I am not sure, but try to replace some devices like constructors or other stuff. It can be that some old devices are the problem.
Especially in particular the Old Warp Drive can't be used anymore & still has a different ID to the current Warp Drive that uses the Warp Fuel Tank filled with Pentaxid for its Power now instead of raw Power given to ya by your Fuel Tanks. Also a good idea to Replace All Constructors with new Versions cause there was a change to systems related to that. (Especially of note, Large Constructors also now do the Auto-Build Components for Final Items thing but now only craft up to Item Level 12 & the Advanced Constructor is now needed to Craft the End Game Items like Miniguns & Plasma Cannons & such.)
Fallow a long buddy. Players can't be changing there blue prints all the time like said in a above post. Not talking about Devs Geeee.
Yeah we most certainly can when it's Alpha, far away from Full Release. We need to move forward with the game as it moves forward, not act like Anchors to drag the game back & try to force it to stand still so we can marry one spot in the Game Progression & marry BPs that were NEVER gonna get to be final products themselves or ever get to last forever. As much as I love my Iji, I know she won't get to last forever & eventually i'll have to move on from her. Someday it'll be out with the old, in with the new. I'm mentally prepared for this.
Well you have a good time with that. If anything BP should have a version number assigned to them. Then it's up to the Downloader to make the changes. How many versions are we at now and how many BP have individual players up loaded so far. Lots...
Even if the workshop just tagged the blueprint submission/update with the current game build... it may help downloaders. I know I don't bother grabbing anything made pre-alpha, cause it will look pretty bad due to pre-alpha lacking all that texturing/coloring goodness! Unless I'm in the mood to color up a build.
I've heard of this happening. I don't think anyone has ever modified anything I've uploaded to the workshop but I would not be bothered by it. If someone happens to like one of my creations then they're free to do what they want with them. I still have the original copies and I will still use them. Plus I never run out of ideas for new ships for myself. This happen a lot in Space Engineers with Mods, you had people downloading mods and uploading the mods with changes without giving the original owner credit. In my personal opinion, if people were getting paid money for their creations then I might think about this a little more but I don't think it's that big of a deal . I'm sure if Steam wanted to, they could assign every blueprint download an id and that blueprint with that id could never be uploaded again and make sure that id will not change even if the modify the blue prints. i'm sure they're are plenty of ways to fix this . I assume Steam will find away to resolve this. I'm sure there is a simple fix for it but I don't know if it's big enough for them to do something about it now.
While it is absolutely dishonest to not give credit to the original creator, and I'm all on board with any effort to encourage doing that, the hint at copyright in this thread concerns me. IF they are making changes to the blueprint, then it is a transformative use and is fair use under US copyright law. I don't want to start any kind of argument with this, I just hate seeing anyone throw the club of copyright around without acknowledging the important safeties that are in it to allow others to improve on it just like this.
