Texture editor: Open in-game console (check your keybindings), command is 'te'.

---> You can get away with the lava texture temp, if you use as the 'Terrain ID' (=main tex) a standard, non-lava tex, and as the 'ClusterID' (=secondary tex) the lava.
Then turn both ultra bright. It should still glow, even in night, but not have an own temperature.

That changes the shape of the lava tex from space, though. The 'Terrain ID' texture is being used for that.
('Terrain ID' is also the one that is used for the 'resample' distant tex pattern.)

    Other stuff:
    - Don't use a lava tex as the first undergroundtex, or the temperature of that might seep through, even with the surface just being 'non-lava'-tex.
    - For fluid lava map and space looks: The first texture channel using lava tex (starting from zero in the texture editor) (as a main tex?) will use the brightness and texture for the map and external view.
AFAIK all lava tex have about 150°C... - Just an extra, pure 'glow' texture that would be in 'height' below all other tex, that would be nice... :)
(Btw thanks for your tip with the 'n'-key menu, keeping the mouse pointer free and preventing the 'blueish' overlay from the pause.)
