When sitting in a passenger seat on the CV, facing the SV in question, if you hit 'P', does it open the control panel for the CV or the SV? If it opens the panel for the SV, then that's a workaround right there. But as for moving around the ship while in motion, I understand it is a game engine limitation that Eleon cannot fix without porting the game to an entirely different game engine -- a monumental task that basically means rebuilding the entire game from scratch, which personally I think is more worthy being a sequel than an update. It is a bit unfortunate, but it is the reality at the moment.
I agree, that would be more of a sequel or at least a paid for expansion pack. I don't think the game can be fixed where players can simply move around a ship while it's fully and dynamically moving in the games current game engine. But what if the ship is on a set course and isn't accelerating or decelerating? Also, the fact that ships just full stops when someone accesses a turret is a problem too. I have this problem when a passenger uses the P menu and accesses a Turret. If I have the Ship's dampeners are turned off and we are just coasting in 1 direction, the ship comes to a sudden and complete stop the second a passenger clicks the button to access the turret from the P menu, Device list. In case an admin is reading this, THANK YOU for the new POIs! my wife and I plundered one last night that took us like 3 hours. It was full of Abominations and had like 3 layers deep of cave / mine networks. That POI probably took your guys a long to to put together and it was awesome!
Very interesting subject. This one is complicated to say the least and I believe alot of standards would need to be set before the changes made to meet those standards. It's always better to actually be "Inside the ship" instead of a separate area that seems to be inside the ship but with those, this issue comes up. I would love to move/run around a moving ship, 1- handle what needs to be done before planetfall 2- moving from one seat to another or to a different ships cockpit altogether 3- performing damage control while in combat 4- making changes on the fly in extreme situations and more. All seem great and exciting however what needs to be changed is a big task that would take quite a while. I'll love it when it gets here but enjoy Empyrion in the meantime.
