So is the server up down maybe? Was just there got killed respawn they kill me again start over. Only got a few items. Can't start a new game. Some body delete me please.
We are waiting for Mech to get on, then there will be the "official" wipe, everyone will be starting fresh after the corps are created properly this time.
ALRIGHT: So lesson learned, we need to test changes like that before throwing it out there. Next time, I will personally host a Beta Testing server so people can try out the build before it goes live. My server is not going to be as nice as Broken's server but scathing issues like what was in the latest version of the server will be ironed out. Meanwhile, on to those scathing issues, here are those that I am aware of: - There's no fiber - There's no water - Arachnids are spawn killing everyone, mostly through lack of antidotes - There was no Promethium, Broken tells me this has already been resolved. Got any more feedback? GO!
Announcement: Server is now going down for wipe and slight tweaks! A few changes will be made to ensure balance. See above post from MechPilot regarding these. Edit: Also, please join our Steam Group for the server to receive in-Steam announcements for events, such as PvP events and server outages and re-openings.
well you guys choose default desert2 playfield (with more ore) as starting planet..so... looking forward to start again..btw if you guys stick with desert2 as starting planet..there is huge amount of blue crystal in there and Danube Greater is only 3.2 AU away..you will see many GMT players collecting Blue crystal from there and factionless/other faction players will able to roam freely in the system due to that..as collecting 100 or so AU worth of crystal will take only few mins
Shakles still has a little more work to put into the website, I think he said it should be ready early next week or so. As far as the server, it should be live tonight, after Mech has had time to go through the files and getting everything in order. Edit: Update on that, looks like it will end up being online tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks for the reply. Be around tomorrow a little bit. May have to go down to Lacombe. For a few days and see family.
SERVER UPDATE PROGRESS REPORT: I have been addressing the various concerns that have been voiced about Danube Lesser. I think I've been successful in making the arachnids much less of a spawn-camping threat by decreasing their max numbers and imposing a lengthy delay between their spawns. To compensate for the lack of arachnids (and the lack of natural fiber) I instead opted to spawn in Plant Monsters. You should be able to get fiber from them, and they will be an alternate threat to arachnids. Hopefully not worse. Even now, the Plant Monsters will have a longer spawn delay (either 1 or 3 hours, not sure if ingame or IRL, based on the biome) than the Arachnids previously did (0). I'm in the process of tweaking the blue crystals; currently on the live server there are just too many for Danube Lesser. There should be Promethium on Danube Lesser. I can confirm that drones guard POIs and deposits. Plus... I've thrown in a little twist that will make the Drone Base harder to neutralize. Or more tedious, depending on how you handle it. Finally, I'm in the process of causing an ocean to spawn... however there are some issues throwing internal errors and the game has no idea what to make the oceans out of. I'll experiment more with that tomorrow. However, the big issue is that Slam and other who have been trying to get on my RvB Beta Testing server (hosted by me on my computer) have not been able to find it in the server browser, and I myself can only connect by typing in my internal IP address (192.168.x.x) which only works for people on my router, which I assume none of you guys are. As a result of these technical issues, deployment of the server configuration patch has been delayed until we can get these issues tested. Sorry, guys, but I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. I guarantee you that between me, Slam, and Broken we will have the server ready for you in a much more balanced, playable state by Friday evening. And we're learning a lot of lessons which will be invaluable to the overall redesign we will begin work on after the server is stable.
hi can you share the playfield file of the Danube lesser with me..I can try and test to spawn an ocean in it and test it in SP game before send that back to you...
Were all the problems only associated with Danube Lesser? I started there, and while there wasn't any Promethium, Water, Trees or Fiber, it presented an interesting challenge (especially in team building and collaboration). There was plenty of meat, magnesium, minerals and blue crystals. If those were the only issues, I think you should have left it. I could have easily got off the planet, went to Danube Greater and shuttled back enough promethium/water/oxygen for all the newbies. All that being said, I assume now were waiting on another full wipe? I logged in this morning and found my player data intact but all my resources gone. I have nothing but what was on my person. Not much I can do now.
I'm not sure that playfield even has a water level. I tried to use it as a base for a water world and it just gave me problems. Now I'm using it as a base for a rogue planet with all the lights turned off all as a jump point because the crystal supply is good. I think it would be better off leaving that planet temperate, it will cut down on randoms on our homeworlds, and its easier to limit those resources and adjust settings because we are all very familiar with those planets.
what would I have been missing? there was plenty of neod, All I would have needed was a tiny SV to get some sathium from asteroids. My plan was: level to 10. unlock SV, CV items. build a tiny SV to get sathium. build CV thrusters and warp drive/tank, fill with pentaxit and Boom. gone. I don't think any of that stuff needs water/fiber. Oxygen would have been dicey, but since the planet was breathable, I only need it for the short trip to get sathium and the long trip to another planet. edit: unless you're talking about the lack of promethium. but you start with plenty to do what you need to do.
Just by looking at this I know what the issue is, you haven't port forwarded any of the ports you need, which are by default 30000-30002 or 30000-30003, but if you do some digging for the numbers I'm sure they will appear somewhere, once you've setup the ports it you will be able to connect using your External Ip and the port :30000 again, by default, if that number is changed, then you will have to adjust accordingly.
One is looting all poi's having a small cv with a warp fuel tank already on it. Throw everything you loot irregardless of what vessel it says it for into the factory. The other way people were doing it was combining there resources especially prom to get out together which is what the Beer Warriors did.
yep, that's the easy way. red vs blue is all about team play, one CV to get everyone to another planet. One SV to get around. Could have been a lot of fun. still will be fun, just sucks because I've started over 8 times in the last 4 days due to server issues (not just this one, but I haven't been able to get a MP game going due to wipes and data loss.)
It worked before with zero port forwarding though, on the very same network I'm on now. Something in the Dedicated Server framework creates its own port forwarding similar to Hamachi. I might have time to test it before work, if not I'll test it after I get back from work. I might try port forwarding anyway.
There were also issues with excessive amounts of arachnids frequently spawn killing you. It didn't happen when I jumped on my test server prior to throwing the files to Broken, but when I went on the live server I got swarmed immediately. Was running out of pistol ammo and had no opportunity to set up anything, even if I'd been able to plop down a survival constructor couldn't have had the time to craft stuff without being anally violated by the local wildlife. I edited the biomes so that arachnids do not spawn nearly as frequently and decreased the cap, however to compensate I threw in other monsters. And while I want the planet to discourage people to stay, I can't go so far as to prevent players from being able to harvest oxygen and water. I don't want it to be too easy to get off planet, either - you're supposed to get off the planet by being recruited to a team, not really on your own power. We don't want too many freelance players as it'll weaken the organized team combat aspect. And yes, I promise that the server should have a stable build by tomorrow evening.
Hmm, making it temperate. If I can't bend the new "Desolate" - the modified Barren playfield - template to my will easily, that'll be the first thing I jump to. I agree it'll be easier to work with, but again my principal concern is that if the planet is too nice, randoms won't want to join a faction at all.
