I was on the orbital (colonist ?) station. Stepped on the teleporter and could reach the polaris ground station. Got there did trading and stepped back to go back to the orbital station where I HAD PARKED my spaceship. Then couldn't got back because my reputaion with colonist was neutral ! Do you realize it could be killing if we don't use console ? The use of teleporter should be at least neutral AND you should be able to go and get back, even from different faction rep. In my case the destination REP faction was friendly BUT the departure REP faction was neutral. I managed to go but not to return..... If "Friendly" is the min requirement to travel to any transporter... It totally defies logic as to why any faction would even allow access to a teleporter below Friendly???
To be blunt: Knowing you have to have a certain level of Reputation with a faction and doing it anway.. In Real Life if there is standing a Car around with the Engine running you may hop in and take a ride. When returning it you wonder why the Police is arresting you? Serious?
That is a half excuse at best due to the fact that faction standing is hidden from the player until they first discover the faction. Then it is compounded further by the fact that we start at very different faction standings with various factions and you have no way to know until after. If the game lets you teleport to it then from the players perspective there is no reason why it should restrict you from coming back. Put it another way, if they don't like me so much then why did they allow me to teleport directly into their base in the first place? Major security risk. Sorry, but it doesn't jive. It is like in real life letting someone you dislike walk into your house, watching them walk in and not stopping them, and then trying to hold them hostage and refuse to let them leave. You wouldn't let them in in the first place.
@TwitchyJ Read here -> https://empyriononline.com/threads/common-mistakes-please-read.98083/#post-437847 and I highlight the sentence to be noticed-> In case you set them to 0000 a player who might be only neutral to a faction can use the teleporter, go somewhere else and never can go back, because teleporters can ONLY be used as a target from POI of at least FRIENDLY npc factions. (There is another side-issue with that, but that will require some fixtures of the accessibility of a teleporter) ...and now goes the 'ball' to the creator of the Station(not the Devs).
If the devs included the station in the vanilla build... the ball is in the devs court. Teleporter reciprocity is a perfectly reasonable expectation.
I disagree with both opinions on this, the use of a teleporter should be tied to the DefReputation.ecf and then players can settle this matter by simply choosing whatever option works best. Don't like the idea of friendly teleporters going to neutral spots? Define in config for both target teleport and useteleporter. Problem solved.
There have been many complaints about this. There are multiple simple solutions that could be implemented but there definitely is a problem.
