Build: 1.8.8 3864 Mode: Survival / Creative Mode: Single Player / Multiplayer Reproducibility: Always Severity: Minor Type: Salvaging Summary: Sometimes salvaging a block or device will return a higher number of a material component than was used to construct it. Possible exploit, though highly RNG-based. Description: I have seen cases during gameplay where salvaging a component that uses a few rare materials will sometimes return more of some materials than used to build it. For example, it is possible to salvage a T4 CV extender and get back more bridges and/or matrixes than were used to construct it. Steps to Reproduce: Place a device that has multiple ingredients Salvage the device using a T2 Multitool (also works with T1, but is rarer) Examine the count of materials salvaged and see how that compares to the device's recipe. Repeat steps until you encounter a case where you get back more of an ingredient than the recipe required. This may take several tries due to RNG. Screenshots: CV T4 CPU Extender recipe. Note that it takes 1 matrix and 6 power coils. One example of salvaging a T4 extender using a T2 multitool. I received 2 matrixes and 7 power coils. Another example salvaging with a T1 multitool. In this case I received 3 matrixes. Testing salvaging hardened steel blocks with a T2 multitool, once I received 11 titanium plates (recipe is 10 ti plates + 10 steel plates).

Description: Salvaging a block using the Multi Tool (T2) will sometimes yield more of a resource than what the block's crafting recipe contains. For example salvaging a Furnace can sometimes yield 6 Flux Coils or 7 Energy Matrix even though it only costs 5 Flux Coils or 4 Energy Matrix to craft a furnace. Tested in single player vanilla survival, and single player Reforged Eden 2 creative. I believe the average yield still balances out to equal the return factor set for the multitool over time so the balancing effect may be limited overall, but it does not make sense that you can sometimes get more of a resource than what went into the item. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Start a new default survival game. 2) Place down a base and a furnace. 3) Use the salvage mode of a Multi Tool (T2) to salvage the furnace and take note of the resources gained each time. 4) You should very quickly find some resources gained are more than what is contained in the crafting recipe.
