Since there is an extra area for A-Sym-builds, I thought I should post the ship here. This is my astroid farmer CV and because she's not a pretty ship I call her Ugly Betty . Since she has no armament, the orbit should be freed of drones first. Then she can do the farming. She even has a small rest area with a Fridge . But do not eat soup there is no gravity on board .
See, I like this. Lots of different uses for A-sym. Also, while I have definitely produced many a design that I think might be beautiful... but then I realize to my humility are just shiny. I also have a few.... less than pretty designs: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=887717554 Nice contribution! Thank you for the post.
This is the flagship of Silver Horde Pillaging Solutions, my Discworld-themed vessel construction company. It's not very asymmetrical, but sort of. The deck towers are off-center, as well as the main laser cannon. Some parts of the interior are, too, like the accessways to engine compartments. Well, I am admittedly not a fan of Asym design, and I have never, until now, designed such a ship. This one was more accident and improvisation than planning or intent. It was designed for Fractalites design challenge, and I had no idea until after I posted it there that he was such a fan. More Serendipity than Seren can dip I guess. At Fractalites request, I am posting it here for the amusement of many, and the enjoyment of a few "twisted" folks. Its called Fandango, and will be available on the workshop as soon as the 6.0 build ban is lifted and publishing it is safe to do.
Here is an ugly thing built solely for testing purposes... I had another ugly idea while building it. I hope it will not crash the game once I get in range of a drone... I think all turrets & guns are there minus one minigun turret that sits on top of the "main quarters". Next is a view from the back: This thread is a great idea. I don't feel like a reject anymore. ))
Cleaned up the thread I hope I did not delete anything important. Please keep on topic and no more drama please.
Back on track. Here's a simple starter SV - RAIDO CORPORATION GRASSHOPPER! Spoiler Steam Workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=942524610
Guess i'll go ahead and share this over here, my class 5 large scale mining support carrier CV. It's kinda ugly, and fat, but factories are rarely pretty. Designed to carry the various mining HV's I've been making to different worlds and support lots of refining. Tried to make good use of levers and logic gates to toggle things without using control panel. Had a hard time keeping it under class 6, when it was published it was under class 6 by a single lever, although I've since tweaked and removed several LCD's I had labeling things. Couldn't put more than 6 turrets on it without going over class 5 either. Really struggled trying to find a way to stop shutters from auto-opening when near, but couldn't figure out how (wanted the cargo bay doors to only open with a lever). Better description and more pics on workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=944446160&searchtext= pics: Spoiler edit: if this should be in capital vessel thread instead of asymmetrical I apologize, feel free to move it or delete if needed
Nippin to apologize for takin so long gettin my next Asymm done... & also to give AoE* Kudos to all the cool Asymm work in this Thread still goin on. Gotta love the Imagination here. *AoE = Area of Effect... for when trying to ping single targets with single target attacks over & over & over just wouldn't have the laziness desired.

How about the Tempest from EVE? Never played it actually but i kinda liked the idea of a vertical ship. The ship is not finished yet (lot of space inside ) Credit goes to the Blank from SoulChateau http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=872253634&searchtext= Also if it must not be a asymmetrical Vessel. But iam always looking for something outside the box. Like asymmetrical ships, ship parts that are not connected to the mainship or vertical ships (higher then long/width). so keep sharing
@Tyrax Lightning pointed me to this thread. I'm trying to come up with a coherent style and I finally stumbled into something I like, here's my first small SV: The 3 thrusters blocks can be switched on and off separately. Two are all rounders, the third is only forward propulsion for when I need to go somewhere in a hurry. The full blueprint has an utility pod that I'll probably take off when I need to go do serious combat. At least I finally decided on a colour scheme For all my stuff: Deep Purple and White Stripes
That is fantastic, I was always flying Matari ships over the Gallente stuff I was supposed to be using. Looking forward to the finished version appearing on the workshop. EDIT: Please name it Clear Skies
I lost the blueprint file but I still have a pic of it. Small scout like SV. Edit: I remade it finally and used newer textures. Workshop link http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1120313862
Thnx for the cheers Sadly i laid the "project tempest" on Ice for now. How i said, i like the idea of a not landable vertical ship....but the problem with vertical ships are the elevators....i dont like them and i can't come up with some good connection solutions between the different floors inside the ship :/ so i work for now on other projects. But if u want i could give u a half-assed unfinished BP.
The idea of those stairs are nice, but have u ever tried walking on then? even on normal gravity like Akua its hard to go up, and it is harder in space with artificial gravity (without jetpack). You always have to walk on the outside of the stairs..... but there is a way of course, iam honestly just not in the mood for that ship, so i am currently on other projects (or simple just not enough time for everything)
Yeah, sometimes it can be outright helpful to procrastinate on a Build then come back to it with a fresh perspective.

The challenge I have set for myself in Empyrion today is to build a CV that is <3000 iron ingots(ideally <2000), is level 7, only utilizes 1 small CV thruster in every direction, has a "reasonable sized" hangar, a place for a warp drive/warp fuel tank, obvious directions of expansion, and does not look like a mass of blocks or a generic box - i.e., function AND form. Is proving to be very challenging. - @Fractalite AHHHH Fractalite my friend! You sir are like that bedragled little puppy that one finds on the street on a cold, rainy day and reluctantly takes home "for the night" and suddenly it's 4 years later and you can't imagine life without him. Did someone say "challenge"? Did someone say "function & form"? Did someone say "SEXY ASYM"? I missed this challenge over my summer away from the game and forums. I was prowling around in the workshop earlier this evening and found a link to this post. Not a FORMAL challenge, but a challenge nonetheless! Well, I had a few spare parts kicking around, and figured I'd give it a go. So, THIS is what I did in Empyrion today: I call it the "Broke-Back Waddle Hopper" but since I owe a good friend a favor in the ship naming department, I suppose I should christen it something less eccentric. I've not quite finished painting/texturing, and I still to need to add some circuits and set up the CP properly, but here's a sneak peak, and for better or worse, the pathetic thing will be on the workshop in a few days for folks who are interested. It comes in at a hair under 1300 iron ingots, sports twin generators, FOUR each of O2 and Fuel tanks, and meets all the rest of the quallies for this challenge. Ladies and Gentlemen, without further ado, I give you THE HARLIQUIN!
