I have a CV where my signal logic doesn't work - or more precisely: it will work but then stops working after some time after powering-off / on the CV. I'd like to know wether this is a game issue or if my signal logic is faulty which is more likely. (It would be nice if I knew how to insert DIRECTLY screenshots from Steam, but atm I can only insert them as a link, sorry for that.) I have 2 horizontal hangar doors in my CV that are commanded from a motion sensor and a separate lever: Here is the lever setup: Here the motion sensor setup and the red laser area: And finally here's the hangar door setup (only 1 shown), the problematic circuit can be seen in the last 2x OR here below. The strange thing is: I have also a HV hangar door at the back of my CV and it's coded exactly the same, only that this one works flawlessly and in all situations, it can be seen just above the last 2x OR. Thank you for any comment or denoting any errors !
To share an image here in the forum all you need to do is drag it from the game image folder and drop it where you’re typing your text, then you’ll have options on how to display it As for your problem it’s not clear what your intend is, a lever that keeps the hangar door open or closed and also a sensor to make it open/close when you approach it? You can also share the BP if you want people to check it, works the same way as the images
Thanks Kaeser, I will give it a try with your image instructions, it's only that my images are saved on Steam when I hit F12 in the game, not sure I will find them in the Empyrion game folder. And yes, my problem is exactly as you say, a circuit where I'm not sure that I defined it correctly.
Try this: In your Steam Library when you have Empyrion selected on the bottom right you will have something like this If you have not taken any yet Or something like this if you have You just need to select the "Manage my #### screenshots" it will take you to where the images are stored You can also just use Print Screen and then CTRL+V while typing to have any image in here As for the circuit it seems correct so what do you define as not working, lever not opening the door or sensor not opening the door?
I have now managed to get the pictures in. Please tell me if you see them, thank you. The 2x OR circuit is not working, it's based on both the lever and the motion sensor.
Well done Now there is a difference between the lever and the sensor, sensor is active as long as someone is in the sensor area as for the lever it will be active for as long as it is activated, this should be no problem for a OR Gate as it should work for either one or the other or both, but at times if the lever is activated and you activate also the sensor it can create conflicting results, not sure it's what you're experiencing If this is the case you can try and make the signal of the Lever turn off the sensor so they do not both trigger at the same time
I have to admit, it has been a while since I've used them, but.... don't hanger doors already open automatically when approached with a vehicle? I'd have sworn they did, though the actual range of this may be shorter than what can be accomplished with a sensor.
I think what has confused me is: As default when you power off and on, all doors will close. If then the levers are on you need to change them manually from off to on to see the results of the OR condition. And this works. But at some point I get in a situation where both the lever and the sensor will not work and then - after some time and actions - all will work normal again. Is it because I use God Mode to leave my cockpit and ship to quickly move where I make changes to the CV (in Creative) ? Maybe my behavior confuses the logic. But thank you to have evaluated the circuit. Knowing this one I get at least a good basic knowledge, although I use the simple 'Custom' shortcuts most of the time. Thanks and greetings,
That is correct, but it still begs the question - why tie up signal logic in this manner? I know, I've done it too, largely for the effect, because you can place sensors further from doors than the door's innate sensor, but it usually proves to be a whole lot of work for little gain, and a lot of headache.
Well, sometimes you need hangar doors responding also to NPCs and players and in this case I assume the intend was to have a lever opening the hangar door and keep it open, in such a case the hangar door will stop responding to ships approaching as the signal logic will stop everything else
What do you want to circuit to do? You haven't actually told us. What isn't working? As a redundancy on my circuits, i like to add an inverter with input of 0, output i just call ON, and all my devices that i want to run continuously i explicitly say so with the Inverter output. I find it's a bit more reliable. If your lever becomes powered off then it can't send a '1' to the circuit and your door will close. Because the motion sensor is way more reliable than the "automatic default" detection of the hangar doors. This is a pretty standard thing to do in Empyrion and has been for a long time. "Tie up?" Idk if you're trying to run the game on a smart toilet or what but it shouldn't bother your overhead.
My 'problem' has magically disappeared, all is working as it should, the lever will always open doors and keep them open, and the motion sensor works if I enter the sensor area. @Amethyst, what I want with my circuit is both the possibility to open the doors with my motion sensor and the lever. If I switch on the lever the doors will stay open forever until I switch off the lever (unless I power off-on my CV which will close the doors but that's normal game behavior); if the lever is off, then only the motion sensor will decide to open the doors if entering the red laser zone. AFAIK, because 2 elements decide for opening the doors (lever + sensor) I have to do a circuit, you cannot do a shortcut with 2 elements involved. Apparentlly moving around in god mode, going through walls etc. will confuse the logic, that was in Creative. In my survival game it doesn't happen, I guess because I don't use god mode.
Sweet! Idk if you want to add any more levers to that system, say another one in you cockpit that also controls the doors. You could combine the two levers with an XOR gate, and then that output with an OR gate to the motion sensor, in case you wanted to have another similar lever for the same door in another position. On my builds I also like to make status lights/lcd's: the transmit signal from a certain door will trip a light or lcd that's labelled with what door is open. Also handy to have in the flight deck area to see at a glance if any doors are open without swapping views.
