To go back into topic though! Last of the stealth fighter concept ships I made started to bear small resemblance to the logo of the Skyrim so I went full retard and tried to make it as close as possible, while still keeping ship small enough to be proper stealth ship. Here's the result: Drake -light-fighter (see I changed the whole name and all!) Armed with 2 railguns (plus one centerline rocket launcher) this tiny fire-breathing (rockets) dragon is closest thing you can go on flying with an actual dragon in this game! Also features everything from fridge to constructor and O2 station so it's viable as an exploration(or pve) ship as well. With only 300 ingots of iron and less of everything else (34minutes of build time) this is also quite cheap to make and all you need is level 12 (and skyrim soundtrack. Tame yours today! Yeah... strafing is (slightly) broken. In space strafing makes projectiles shoot at strange angles... IMO only a slight sideways trajectory should be tacked onto bullets when strafing.
I've been itching to build something usefull with pulse lasers so I tried to find something that they're good at aside the nice looking effect. I found out that they actually have slightly longer range than any other small vessel weapon (prolly because gravity of the planet won't effect the projectiles) so I wanted to make a really stable platform, which you can just land away from ion cannon range and snipe them away. So here it is! This small vessel is kind of a mix-breed from walker and vertical ship and as an inspiration I used Russian Howitzers from very old game called Battlezone. So it's quite vertical, but really stable and you can use it pretty accurately to snipe out enemy ion cannons before going inside their range on anything that might get shot back at, although aiming can be tad bit tricky since you have to turn and lean whole ship in order to aim it has: 6 pulse lasers 2 rail guns (for occasional drones, which might aggro on you when you wipe out their precious bases) O2 station small constructor for making more rounds fridge for food cargo boxes for loot Parked on the mountain slope for maximum range Aiming downwards Landing spotlight so you know where you're trying to get your struts into. So.. toyed around with a pre-alpha SV today, and, ended up with this... The "Sakaala Transporter" ... It is the first part, of a larger build, that will include a smaller SV for recon / combat along with a rather large CV. (I'm still debating whether or not i'll make it a planetary vessel...) Question: Can a CV dock on a CV ??? Ok, the transporter: BEFORE you start complaining.... The low-tech, is intentional. Some, would complain, that the ship, in it's current state, is completely flat buttomed... Well, once you develop into T2 gear, and put those on instead, the ship gets elevated a bit. During construction, i modeled it with the Heavy T2 gear, just to make sure they fit I strongly recomend gentle landings, untill better landing gear has been researched The ship, is for "starting out". It has EVERYTHING one needs, and more to it. Armor, covers very well, and, in some places, 2 blocks deep. Not the most nimble thing, then again, does it evel LOOK nimble ? LOL Easy to modify to ones taste. Would change some of my thinking really :S .... Currently working on the mothership part of the project..... only done the bridge part thus far LOL BUT, if a CV could dock to a CV, you'd have one massive "mobile base" for gathering stuff...... which, would make HV and SV kinda obsolete in end-game content :S .....
