For PvP, Railguns or Bust. For PvE ya can do whatever the buggers ya want. I agree ya don't ever want your RCSs right on the surface of your Craft unburied or even a T1 Pistol from some schmuck fresh out of an Escape Pod could blow them up for easy sabotage of SV Performance. I too recently experimented & discovered ya could use Glass with the Tint facing out to hide your Spotlights from external view yet still having your Spotlight Lights flashing out & doing their job... but I would consider doing it optional & nowhere near mandatory considering the biggest amount of Glowiness on your SV is from your Thrusters if you're placing them normally & not doing the 'Thruster Bury Cheese'. Also sticking Grates in front of Thrusters to act as sort of Vents that can give them a little protection is a valid tactic but I personally don't think I ever lose a lot of Thrusters in PvP Combat... in PVE I can imagine the tactic bein useful for your front & side Thrusters vs those POI Laser Turrets.
I've been playing since Pre-Alpha 1.6 and I've never really noticed just how much the models have changed until I saw these old pics lol.
Well, it took pretty much a whole week, but I finally managed to complete an "Asymmetric" design I was happy with. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=777588046 And despite the weight of all that hardened steel, she doesn't fly half-bad either.
There aren't enough likes, in all of known or potentially perceivable existence, to do this ship justice. Best small vessel on the workshop, bar none. What a cool &%$#ing design. I just could not get over the door placement and the feel of the cockpit - very cozy, but then when I actually sat in the pilots seat, and the view was far better than expected... god that is sweat. The curved wings, the matching coloring that is eye catching but not too aggressive, no wasted space. You even remembered a fridge! You even created a bad$%& video to go with it! Kieve! That is kinda blowing me away. Wow.
Another in the lineup of my "Thunder" series.. This is the 4th generation of the original SV I first designed. It's a bit larger, much better armed, and has decent storage. This is designed as an all-purpose exploration ship for PvE planets. It's got 4 rocket launchers, and 6 plasma cannons. The main purpose for these is clearing land, and taking out turrets on PoVs. Additionally we have... 3 ammunition boxes 4 storage chests 2 fuel tanks O2 tank and dispenser 1 fridge 1 constructor It's a bit heavy as it's made entirely of hardened steel, but the thrusters and RCS installed keep the maneuverability up to a decent level. I have one of the earlier generations I'll re-design into more of a starter SV. More images here... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=778253074
Here is the Mk3 version of my SlamTek Sparrow line: It's larger than the other Sparrows, naturally, and boasts a healthy compliment of both Rail Guns and Plasma Cannons, to help you kill it, whatever "it" happens to be While larger and heavier, it does feature upgraded generator capacity and thruster power, to help it keep a competitive edge with other modern SV fighters. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=780404300 And, for fun, a family photo of the Sparrow line-up:
Here´s my first ship, think you could easely see where it´s inspired from http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=782998018&searchtext= keep in mind that this is my very first ship, so expect some bugs...but I realy like it
New to the game and the forums. Would love some feedback on my new creations, a themed set of ships based of 70's Electronic Toys. Mainly designed for fun and nostalgia, I'd like to think they're semi-functional at least. You can find the StarBird Intruder here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=783331133 It mounts directly to the full sized StarBird CV on either wing. Links to the StarBird Avenger CV and Bigg Trakk HV are in the appropriate forum threads. Thanks! >monk
regarding small vessels, anyone found the name for the small blocks? the old names like "hullfull" still work, but once you replace a few of them you have a mishmash of differently named blocks...
Thanks oojimaflip! I spent a chunk of yesterday evening updating for 4.0. The Intruder was always a bit sluggish, but seems a bit worse after the update. I need to take it apart and tune it up. The Bigg-Trakk is much more fun now and the StarBird seems pretty much the same. I'd like to put up some of my own creations, but I want to make sure these are stable and functional for everyone in 4.0. >monk
Updated the Albatross to V4.0. My first update to this great new life of the Empyrion existence. Made use of the new wings as possible and redesigned the cockpit. Main wings and engines also redesigned. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=716899192
Update: The Jackal ultralight dropship now is ready for 4.0! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=733094621
So apparently Alpha 4.0 effectively rendered almost all of my old designs obsolete or unworkable... Perfect excuse to revisit them! In-progress as I get the hang of all the new hotness in-game is the FSS-32A Voidhawk Mk II, seen here on the right next to an old Mark I: Leaner, meaner, and improved in all aspects. Coming soon!
And here it is, the Voidhawk II: Anyway, hope you enjoy! I'm going to start attaching the blueprint file to these posts for easy access too. Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
And since I was having a fiddle, have the hardcore military version: FSS-32M! More guns, more ammo boxes, more fuel tanks, and even a couple of oxygen tanks. Go forth and pew! (Disclaimer: It's probably rubbish in PvP but it looks pretty!) Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
Hi! I tried to make pretty small vessel with internal cabin, it is only for exploration. Workshop link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=788551245
