Who wants weapons! Yep, that's a total of fifteen... Peace through superior firepower! Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
Inspired by the limited thruster/RCS challenge by Slipstream, I give you: This is a slightly improved version of my original post in that thread. While still limited to twenty thrusters total I've added another two RCS to bring it up to the threads max of four, added two more ammo boxes, and an extra generator so it's fuel efficient even in atmosphere. My post-4.0 survival game has yielded some new SV updates. Don't be fooled by their similar appearance, these are vastly different animals. Vehicles. Whatever. (Workshop Link) Basic steel and available at Lvl 7. This was the ship I built to bypass HVs, before the 4.2 update. Nimble and deadly, she's an excellent all-around workhorse SV. (Workshop Link) Hard steel and powerful thrusters, this was a much-needed update to the old KSV-19, after the 4.2 update nerfed small thrusters. Also fixes a number of internal flaws in the previous model that left it too vulnerable to splash-damage.

So I actually started playing the game (what a novel idea...) and realised I was going to need a cheap SV for wandering off to the moon to get more advanced materials, but wanted something a bit better equipped for mining than my usual combat SVs. So... All the stuff in the stats screenie plus two constructors and four fridges. Not bad... assuming there's no enemies around anyway! It's also the first time I've used the new wing blocks. I was pretty ambivalent about them to start with but I think just for a little detail here and there they're growing on me. Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
First of all: This is a masterpiece. 'Nuff said. <silence to worship the masterpiece> Ok, enough silence. While I cannot hope to compete with the elegance of the above, it did inspire me to try an asymmetric design myself and as it happened my new game required a new SV anyway. Please kindly consider the Vortex I explorer SV: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=796048750
Hah! Funny story, I did the same thing! XD Though I didn't change the thruster positions except for the underside thruster(s?), had to have 4 under there since I turned it all to heavy armor and it had trouble lifting off of high gravity planets. Added a small thruster on the left and right for better lateral movement too and changed the propultion thrusters to mids. Also re-built the insides. Now all the containers are internal and added a landing leg on the top so I can stick it to the ceiling for efficient use of space. Oh, and I also modified the frame slightly so I can install 2 more weapons of choice. Also put the two passenger boxes the same way you did. At a glance, it looks the same as before, except with those two extra guns. Now that ship is my standard for small fighters when I'm designing hangars. Also, you should see what I did with the T1 and T2 capital ships. XD
exchanged some S thrusters for mids for MOAR POWER, since space is an issue. wasn't landing gear changed a few versions back that upside-down doesn't work anymore (never tried it myself)? I mostly like the T1/T2 CVs the way they are, but I usually remove the growing pots (either have a 3x3 or none at all, I hate wasting energy) and put in an offline protections. even in combat steel it works, I never really use them in atmosphere tho. always wanted to do an aircraft carrier CV in the same style, some day I might get back to that.
Had some time this morning and worked on something: Introducing the Owl. Nothing too exciting here. Tis my first attempt at building an SV with the wing shapes. I found some of the wings(like the pair I have on this ship) do not mesh well with the block shapes. Some do, and I avoided those because I am a masochist. But most do not. Leaves parts of the ship feeling disjointed. This ship would be nice for survival POI raiding, but definitely not pvp. I was going for the weathered, beat-up look hence the dis-jointed colors/textures. If you want to find it on steam, click the "recent" tab or search for "owl" but since this is my first attempt, I am going to leave those pursuits up to you and not link here. Enjoy!
Hi. I had some time today so I build small, cheap and quite agile SV. Modern fighter style. Already tested on Alien Fortress POI. 40m/s2 does the job. Workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=799710364
My latest behemoth of an SV - 3400 cubes and two decks. At this point it's fully functional, but most of the outer hull is just the basic shape (still working on hardening the outer hull, too, but PvE doesn't provide many threats to SVs yet) - any suggestions on how I can apply some sort of "detail work" to make it look really great would be appreciated. Landed next to our original "just get to space" base. Upper deck, lower deck, pilot seat (I've since done internal texturing, but that too is not yet finished.) Pilot-for-scale shot, next to underground base we just started on.
Did a lot of dress up work (and started giving it an armor plating look by.. .giving it armor plating.) Forgot to grab Material and stats screens... I'll update later when I'm back home. Upper deck - textured but still empty otherwise (for the moment.) Probably going to partially fill in with 16 passenger seats. Aside from a gunship, it can act as a full on troop transport.
While building my "colony" ship I realised in this game I hadn't really made any small shuttlepod-type things to go in the pod bay reached via the two front docking tubes, so... Single fuel tank and generator, a core, one RCS, and a small thruster in each direction except forwards. She works well in both atmo and space so I may have accidentally created my initial survey ship when I start a new survival game! Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
Update on my SV - I've gone with making it a Gunship/troop transport. Grabbed the stats screen, too. From the cockpit looking back. Top floor is now basically the passenger area. Current build now in the steam workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=802212288
