[TOOL] Empyrion Playfield Designer v2.43.0 EXP (Empyrion V1.11.x compatible)

If you don't have a client folder in your Empyrion game folder (yet), then you're on public branch. You can (and will need to) still use the old EPD v1.60.6. All old links of EPD I have posted here are still active:

In this post you can download v1.60.6 it again. But v1.60.6 will only work until public branch of Empyrion is updated, then you will need to switch to v1.60.7:

I never think about what public is, it doesn't matter, if only it works well..

 

That's the playfield version in EPD. That only describes the playfield version you're working with right now.

The game version is what's important here. You'll see that when you start Empyrion in the top left corner of the screen.
I'm guessing: 9.4.1 2281

If that changes to 2285 or higher, you will need to switch to EPD v1.60.7 (or newer).

Important note, you must identify the .exe folder, not the root folder of the dedicated server like before.

 

That's just what EPD tells you on first start.

'Pick the folder, where Empyrion.exe oder DedicatedServer.exe is located.'

Now the link no longer works. I get that message:

"Welcome to Empyrion Playfild Designer. This is the first start of EPD. In the next dialag please choose the Empyrion main game folder or the main directory of dedicated server."
and
"Empyrion exe not found. Please select Game or Dedicated server folder.Exiting"

I found Client folder in C: Program Files (x86) Steam steamapps common Empyrion - Galactic Survival

I have to extract the new EPD link to Client folder but I get the same message. I don't know which folder it should be? I have no server.

 

So your game has now updated to the new version.

Now you need EPD v1.60.7. The old version 1.60.6 won't work any longer.

On first start of EPD you now have to navigate into the client folder (or into the DedicatedServer) folder.

Dont put the EPD in the client folder
its the game folder, Extract EPD to its own folder
or an update + verify will remove EPD

Having EDP in \Steam\steamapps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\_tools\epd is safe upon verification of game files,right? It helps me using a \_tools folder under saves because I backup \saves folder and subfolders so I backup everything I need : saves, tools.blueprints, screenshots etc.

• Added PlanetClass property
• changed PlanetType to input field instead of dropdown
• Better FirstStart message to help you find the folders of Empyrion.exe or DedicatedServer.exe.
• added option to start EPD maximized.

Jmcburn, thanks for making PlanetType an input instead of drop-down. Just FYI, since the last version, EPD crashes when I try to open a file from the 'file' menu or by using the 'open' icon in the upper-left. Opening a yaml from the Content Folder pane works still. Here's a link to the errors I get.

Thanks. The same for me . EPD crashes when I try to open a file. I need to see my previous scenario to update it.

 

Mia, I discovered that EPD does support drag-and-drop, so you can open your .yaml files that way as a work around in the meantime.

I found out what the issue is, but no simple fix yet.
Still an aftermath of the new game folder structure.

For the time being please use the playfieldtree on the left for loading playfields, which should still work - Or use drag and drop.
