For me the Shield effect at 3:25 looks best and most technical as it does not let the model look fluid
Maybe you could have different colors and effects depending on the tiers like green for T1, blue for T2 and red for T3, or you could have blue for humans tech and red (like that slick red at 1:00) for alien tech, lots of options here.

Does the Company that provides those Graphic effects tell anything about the Hardware needed and about the performance issues it will definitely have on a game like EGS and the Player engines at all?
