Summary: When the core of an OPV stops being rendered due to LOD it is no longer damageable by weapons that do impact damage. They are still affected by blast damage.

    Description:
Players have been reporting that they are unable to core certain OPVs because the exposed NPC cores on ships will not be rendered at the distance they are firing from, and they cannot damage it. This is common with large combat ships that use secure (internal) bridges, since third person view pushes the camera back even more.

After testing it appears that when the core stops rendering at a certain distance any impact damage weapon (CV pulse lasers, SV railguns) will shoot straight through where the core should be and will do no damage. Explosive weapons (CV rocket launchers, SV missile / plasma) will still damage the unrendered core as long as the explosion is nearby.

This also affects other objects that render out with LOD, like deco covers over thrusters. It is also influenced by the player's FOV setting.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Load the attached savegame. The core of the Tovera is fully exposed.
    2. Pilot the Topaz CV back and forth at a distance where you can clearly see the core disappear and reappear
    3. When the core disappears, fire the pulse lasers at where it should be. You can destroy the block behind it without damaging the core at all.
    4. Switch to the rocket launchers and fire a volley where the core should be. The explosion damage should destroy it.
    5. You can repeat the test using the deco covers over all of the top thrusters.

This video shows the above procedure. My FOV is set to 60, and LOD distance is set to high.
