Nice run! I built those shortcuts so that veteran players would not have to fight through the whole thing if they did not want to, but they kinda make the purpose of the speedrun less interesting. Something to think about... Edit: Er, that is, something for ME to think about...
Found a fun little notification when entering a new planet on my dingy little SV Bucky: which was great. Lead to this awesomeness: Decided I did not want to injure my red with Polaris so took the other of the two quests available. Then when flying and looking for smugglers outposts, I noticed first a crashed Capital Vessel, then a scary black pyramid with Neo dotted about. Unfortunately this is the result: That is poor Bucky being pulverized by the pulse laser turrets I failed to notice. On a side note: when you see "black pyramid" do not assume it is unarmed. So here I was on a scary alien landscape... The question was; could I find enough iron, copper, and silicon to scrap together enough for a O2 gen, a portable constructor, and then an intro HV. This was my inventory: Not great, but enough that I refused to give up! But after fruitless searching across areas like: finding only plant protein, fibers, and silicon I was about to throw in the towel, but then! What is that?! ... ... ... Awwww.... So, game over by Black Pyramid. Which, if I am honest, is a fantastic way to go. New game start time!
If you still have the save game, can you blueprint the now-destroyed HV and post it up? I want to set it to spawn next to the black pyramid now.
Oh god! Bucky! What have they done to you!? MURDERER! Yeah , here you go. BP attached if you want it. There isn't much left.
Hahah! Thanks! I'll set it up with a 50% chance to spawn near the Black Pyramid as a bit of an easter egg.
@Fractalite : It's hard to find, but a lucky or observant person might come across this thing near the Black Pyramid: On closer inspection, you can see the previous owner left a message for others to find:
It was started by @T431 but I have not seen him around in a long time. I hope he's ok, but the last time he uploaded anything was 7/6/19 when he uploaded the Albatross
Oh man, I cannot stop laughing! Hahahahahaha! This makes my night. ... On a related note, when I see things like this: My brain should go "Gee, I am in a cobbled together SV that is primarily for scouting gathering resources, I probably should not engage that" but instead the ole brain immediately begins to plan; "Well, if I took out those turrets... and if I have enough ammo..." Naaawwww... I will come back. I want to find that black pyramid for revenge.
@Robot Shark Do you remember this one? https://empyriononline.com/threads/challenge-single-t1-large-generator-cv-complete.36688/ Now that I have participated in the "mini-CV" challenge by @T431, I can potentially find the thread weeks and years from now when perhaps I finish my last two candidates planned for it. However, I did participate in the one linked here. Took me a bit to search through my old content to find my submission to that old challenge. So I suppose if anyone wants to see how I used to build some of my stuff before I lost most of my enthusiasm, well, there was a few screenshots with my submission. My entry is no longer on the workshop. I am thinking of paying homage to that abandoned CV later with a tier 2 build, but I don't think the new CV will be anywhere near as nice as that once was, and definitely will lack any of the polish. I was tempted to make the Care/Cultivate a single T1 generator CV in memory, they could get away with it. But I thought the engineering space of the Cultivate looked better with the second generator. It wasn't like I was running up against tier 1 CPU. And I really didn't know what to do with the engineering space on the Care with a single generator. Just didn't have the energy to work either of those down to a single T1 generator.
So the adventure continued. I was on the watch for the rocky desert planet with the black pyramid but I could not find it. So I stopped and oogled a cobalt moon: Then I saw what seemed to be some kind of hybrid planet? Appears to be a mix between desert and Temperate? Upon entering orbit, I saw "difficulty ultra" which is perfect: Flying for a short distance I saw these nifty stone pillars: and then, wait, what the hell is that in the distance? and then further on another one! To make things even more excellent, the planet was full of bags of loo... I mean, golems! So a desert Oasis planet with golems and shiny things. Good heavens! The only way this could be better is this was a stormy planet or the Plasma planet. I think that will be all for the night, but tomorrow there will be some more investigating...
Well today I spent an hour troubleshooting a problem with my scenario, only to find out it might just be a game bug.
I remember that one, but I also changed it to a dual small generator challenge because you cannot get a working CV with a single small generator anymore. If you go with the traditional 6 thrusters + RCS it's too much for a single to handle.
I think my small CV lowest generator count is 4 these days by the time you have enough thrusters for decent rotation and loaded lift/speed. My small hangar door CV has 6.
