Hahaha. Stephen King of building was great. Looking forward to visiting some of his works. Or all of them.
I didn't realize @Vermillion was responsible for my near heart attacks. I may have to have words with him.
As far as "what I am doing"...(I love this thread, live in a house filled with people who really dont care, so I can geek out here) After visiting a few nearby systems, poking my head into a Zirax system, and finding what I think may be a nice planet to build a "home" I decided to go back and finish up the Zirax threat on my starter world. There are a bunch of small POIs to clear...defense, listening posts, stuff like that. So I have been going to them one by one and destroying them. The Drone base is still there, as I have yet to fix up my "end game" tank to take it on. The nice CV I am using, the Kamonohashi XS is perfect for my needs. Not enough firepower to just sit on a POI, but plenty to slip in, knock out a turret or two, then slip back out for a moment. I upgraded a Merc SV and will at times fly it in to soften a target a bit just for fun. Once I clear all of the POIs and the Drone Base, I will finish up the Derilect ship in orbit. That >should< pacify the whole system...at least enough for me to feel like I did. I am no longer getting the awesome "epic" equipment from the standard POIs, but it is keeping me in enough ore and salvage that my factory is getting pretty well stocked and I have enough ores to keep the guns running. My next step will be to go back to that nice planet that is quite peaceful (and beautiful) and build a staging facility for my planned invasion of Legacy space. I am pretty bummed out that so far I havent found any legacy POIs on any other planets. I >plan< on filling my factory with a dedicated combat CV, a base, and then fill my current CV with fuel reserves, ammo, food, and so forth so that when I hit legacy space I can touch down and build a strong hold.
Sounds like a plan. One of these days I'm gonna have to start planning again. But first, Project Eagle. I hope, when you say you live with people who don't care, that you mean they don't mind your geek time. My wife doesn't mind my EGS time. She does care that I enjoy the time I spend, which has been considerable.
Tonight I forced my brother to be a test subject tested the new Corrupted Xenuan Carrier with my brother's help. Our combat CVs took out the first wave of 8 augmented drones with moderate damage, then it launched another wave... This should be a difficult fight that requires teamwork.
Its not often that I get set up against my own creation but there it was, my drone base, mocking me. You might think that having built it gave me a head start - no, not really. Someone fitted that thing with a shield generator and two missile lauchers - plus a metric ton of loot, so, thanks. I endet up havig to dig a tunnel underneath and taking the shield down with explosives. I NEVER had to do that before. But it was an epic, priceless experience. I later could just not rip it down so I plopped a core inside and let it sit there as a monument.
So on my travels I've finally ran across a really mineral rich large planet. Quite a few medium size Zascosium deposits. Few minor issues though. Pretty high gravity and medium(?) atmospheric density. 1st time I've had to utilize my extra set of medium lift thrusters this game. Ironically my really small SV which is basically all medium thrusters won't even lift off. Had to scout with the CV .
I released it under "The Enforcer" in the workshop, but... its actually just a series of boxes welded together to form a bigger box. Ok, a decorated bigger box, but just a box.
This one I presume? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2239410506 Btw., not bad build, for an Austrian I mean (Hallo Landsmann)
Ehhhh, all our builds are only "just a series of boxes welded together to form a bigger box." But this box is very promising!
Hah, to explain a bit. My wife doesnt mind I play. But I have 4 kids from 3-13 years old. During the day they all fight over who gets to play Roblox or Minecraft. I actually got into Empyrion hoping the older ones would see it as a form of enhanced minecraft. But, they never caught on. So I generally get my playtime between 11pm and 2am (when everyone is asleep). As far as not caring, my wife who isnt a gamer doesnt really care to hear about how I busted a few more Zirax POIs, and despite my best efforts my new CV just doesnt seem to get her crankshaft churnin. As far as "What have I done": I managed to finally get rid of almost all Zirax POIs on my starter planet. The Drone Base seemed an easier version of the POI, it was the same as the "abandoned Drone Base"...just...not abandoned. Getting its shields down was a bit of a chore at first. The suckers built it in a forest, so getting a tank maneuvered close was a challenge, and then dealing with my manly massive war machine of destruction getting hopelessly stuck on a wee little sapling...Ultimately, I found a small crevase nearby I was able to sink down into, then raise up just enough to get the turrets and miniguns firing at the top of the tower. Took a minute to drop the shields, and another minute to wipe out the turrets. Then, a quick run through and the base was down. Rounded off my "Epic Weapons" line up with an Epic Sniper rifle, so that made my day. Finished the evening by hammering the last few Zirax space stations, salvaged a wee bit of their shells, and then headed to the moon. Next time I play I will wipe the Zirax off the moon. There is a drone base there, but just as on the planet, there are a bunch of craters nearby so I am pretty sure I can sink my tank down into one and pound it into submission. The Kamonohashi SX version is proving to be pretty awesome for this playthrough. Plenty of hanger space, plenty of storage, and plenty of constructors. It has enough teeth to handle most issues, but may need to look into something a bit more armed for my assault on Zirax territory, and ultimately Legacy.
Yeah, my wife has her own games she plays on her tablet (a gift from me). Solitaire, Candy Crush and whatever else keeps her occupied. That leaves the PC to me. It will be interesting when she retires next July(?) and we're both home together all day! Every day!
Due to the lovely pandemic we are having, I am at home, all day, every day, with at least 4 other people. My youngest is in daycare during the week. My wife isnt a gamer, well not since Mario back in the 80's at least. But, she is a writer, so she sits on her laptop and taps away. That said, to keep on track...I just kicked the kids off the computer and spent about an hour clearing the drone base from the moon. My HV turrets decided to take a break for the first 5 minutes or so of the attack, which was frustrating. But I was able to use the cratered surface for cover to get right up next to the base before popping up and hugging its walls. THen just laid into it with the 6 gats while the turrets finally decided to come play as well. Spend about 20 minutes running through the base and clearing the nasties (an epic plasma rifle and heavy armor make is almost too easy). Was kinda bummed I didnt get any really good loot. When it was done, I salvaged the edges and bottom of the base and knocked it down and put it into the factory. Got the Xenu mainframe next...and the radio place...I think I am grossly breaking the quest stuff. But the factory needs to be fed.
I like that you put in the effort to make functional ventilation shafts. It probably doesn't bug many people but ventilators can waste quit a bit of power if you're running a lot of them at the same time. I'm pretty frugal with power consumption so I find that to be a really cool feature of your build. Also the "ribbing" along the hull to break up the shape is a nice effect. Is this possible? I thought a couple of the POIs there had Admin cores but I could be wrong. I had a similar problem with the HV on the moon given the geography. I found a crater though that was the right size to sit in and to pop up to fire on the drone base until the shields went down. Used styLmntz's Cyclone MKIII just like I did for the planetary base. The drone base was the same build as the abandoned variant. I've actually never encountered Dinkelsen's variant.
[/QUOTE] Some may. But I’ll defang em and pee in their water tanks. The big one next to the radio tower thing (can’t remember the name) has its core hidden behind a block, so you have to blast it a few times with rockets/charges, but it >will< pop. Breaks a mission I think. But I am honey badgering this play through.
It's now more often to be found on the vanilla Starter Planets - like the Snow Starter I have also found it on my current Arid Starter Planet.
