My current WIP that I worked on today actually does have a wifi in the front cabin and another near the back of the vessel in engineering.

Made some good progress on it today. A bunch of signal work. Some LCD work. And some texturing and paint work, though much of the vessel was painted and textured in previous sessions. Granted, engineering is still rather raw. I had stripped out the interior of the previous build because I believed I could rebuild the interior so much better now than I had with the previous version of this vessel.

I am taking one of earliest CVs from alpha 6 and updating it for CPU and mass-volume. Incorporating some of my improved skills. Unfortunately, in vanilla, hull blocks add CPU costs and weight, so I ended up downgrading to plastic and compensating with a basic shield. Space was left for tier 3 CPU upgrade and an additional 7 turrets--there are currently 10 turrets on the vessel and a few sentry guns. That hangar has 3 ramps on each side for the shape and 3 shutter doors on each side for an airtight seal. Being a plastic CV, I guess those double doors might make them the toughest part of the CV.

Back in alpha 6, I was rotten at first person shooters. Well, I still am terrible at first person shooters. However, back then, a turret set to target aliens would try and shoot them through the blocks of a POI. I remember sometimes that was frustrating when the vessel would shoot at some target moving around inside the POI instead of the turret(s) shooting at you simply because the alien inside the base happened to be closer. Anyways, I remember getting my buttocks handed to me by a drone base. I was angry with the whole situation. So I brought my CV over with its 12 atmospheric turrets and watched the fireworks as it turned the base to swiss cheese, riddled with holes, seeking out and killing the hostile aliens. For example, by the time I took the elevator up to the control tower overlooking the base, I was in more danger of death by falling through all the holes in the tower rather than any of the aliens as the CV had killed them all. Sure, the loot was horrible because of the collateral damage to containers as the CV tore the place apart, but oh how satisfying it felt to have my CV lay siege to the POI and tear it apart like that. For me, the satisfaction was worth the lost loot opportunities. I think I have had a fondness for this CV since then. Granted it did grow a little bigger in alpha 9 or so when I converted the docking wattle on the front of the vessel to an actual hangar.

Having a lot of fun micro managing ammo and fuel in my latest CV.
It's one of those things you've never needed to do after 440 hours.
But then you discover how joyful it is to:
    1. Acquire a huge battlestar ship
    2. Install additional cargo boxes and devices then save blueprint
    3. Trade and make money to buy ammo, fuel, energy and food for the next big journey of destruction.

    No unnecessary grind.
    So fun.

Started a new playthrough to test out my new SV build, the REV Vette (resource extraction vehicle). Im finding that you cant just slap together something that you think looks good, and then assume it works fine after 10-30 minutes of fiddling around with it.

    My revelations have been:
Forgetting a detector right off the bat...that was easy to fix.
Realizing that a "vent" placed over the detector counted as a full block, making it land awkwardly.
Realizing that just because it can hold 20k or so in cargo doesnt mean it can >life< 20k in cargo.
Replaced 2 rearward and 2 downward thrusters with mediums.
Minigun turrets are excellent at shooting at stuff you dont notice, but completely ignore the drone you are dog fighting with thats right in front of you.

    Dear Empyrion,

Thank you for continually working to keep my humble. Last night when I completely salvaged every engine on the planet I realized I was only at 1,000 neobdymium. Imagine my excitement thinking "Shucks! If I just clear out the ship graveyard in space, I wont even have to mess with a warp capable SV, Ill just make my CV and it will be awesome!" Oh, a glorious moment it was. And such a beautiful trip to the graveyard it was. I enjoyed seeing that Zirax corvette pass peacefully by just out of range. Such beautiful scenery I enjoyed while scraping all three of those big destroyed CVs. The tons of wonderful loot filling my hold. I saw the bounty and rejoiced.

But then, I made a decision, "Should I put it in the factory now? Or just get back to base and quite dawdling?" We all know how dawdling in orbit can be scary...so I decided to head back to base. I wanted to be able to see exactly how much salvage it was so I could give better advice to my other Empyrion friends by saying things like "If you salvage the graveyard you will get 500 neobdymium from the engines!" or "There is warp drive free for the taking in one of the ships!" Oh...what a time that would have been.

But apparently my home trajectory wasnt quite the same. So imagine my shock when the entire rear end of my ship exploded. And then the look on my face as I jumped out of the cockpit only to see that Zirax corvette nestled comfortably on top of my wreck.

To add, my beloved Empyrion, I want to thank you for the long trip back to base as I was forced to respawn at the trading station on the planet...because I forgot to set my spawn point at base. But this did give me time to lament the wasted ores I had to use for a hovercraft as I weaved and bobbed through the heavily wooded terrain home.

How much salvage still sits in the burning wreck of my beloved SV floating in space? I guess I will have to wait and see. Perhaps most of it has been turned to space dust...or perhaps some still rest in the container controller...perhaps we will never know.

    Yours lovingly,

    Chumsickle the Spaced

P.S. A special thanks for my turrets randomly, or accidentally hitting that Kreil on the way home. I really was needing yet another life form on the planet trying to kill me. My relationship with these creatures really needed to be taken down a bit...and by a bit I mean a lot.

As a side note...the detectors in space can be sketchy at times. I was hitting that sucker like it owed me money as I rambled towards the planet. And not once did the zirax corvette show up...until it blew me in half.

Oh...no, I didnt. Not even close...I died in an explosion. Then I spawned nearby to see if I could lead the ship away.

I died so many times my medium armor is shredded. I was stubborn.

But, on the bright side...at lunch today I spawned in a new creation of mine, a low level warp capable SV and decided to bite the bullet and just warp to get the Neo. I was able to swing by the old wreck while the corvette was away and get the cargo. Possibly not all of it, but enough that it would have built me whatever starter CV I could want.

That is FAR more refined and nice than the flying box of sadness and embarassment I was able to piece together as my warp capable SV. I am still learning to use angle blocks, and get frustrated with turning and orienting them. Like...Ill know which block fits, but just cant get it turned right.

I think 90% of my problem is patience. Ill get gung ho about designing something...then halfway through fidgeting with blocks Ill get frustrated and move on.

But, to be fair, the one that got blown up actually did look nice (to me at least), but it was designed to just get me around the starter system. It was made of container extensions and plastic.

Did a bit of Storage-Upgrade on my Space-Base (that is mostly made from Concrete and Forcefields and sits savely in Tradestation-Alpha)...

So first i set down the over 50 Cargo-Container that somehow had collected in my Salvage-pile.
(this is the second room i started when the first was full)
But it is rather messy to have that much Containers, with like 5 or so per resource...
So the Containers went into recycler and i made some cargo-controlers and -extenders... 14 controller and 546 extender.
only the controllers cant be set next to each other so I need more space that i acounted for. placing them in a wall and on the floor did the trick:

Also i noticed the O2 does not escape if a replacement block is placed fast enough ;)

Same for alot of us I think.

One day I sat down and deliberately set out to make something very curved just to get a better feel for what blocks there were and how they fit. The end result was this thing (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2131507172). It still doesnt touch the highly imaginative use of blocks from the likes of jrandall and vermillion, but helped me alot will hull shapes at least. Of course the game has changed since then making anything that doesnt have the hull space for a near maximum compliment of weapons basically useless beyond an act of desperation in early game, so it got evolved with arms and legs to become this (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2254540124).

The biggest problem I find there is still far too many connecting shapes missing for me. But some people manage to embrace that in a way I never seem able to, and also a lack of patience on my part as well as like a lot of us, I mostly build to fulfill a need and therefore to use and if after using them, they work well for the purpose (at the time), then they may end up on the workshop.

I cant stand having too many stores - makes the container selection list a nightmare :)
Think about 10 cargo, 4 fridge and 4-6 controllers is about as much as I cant stand.

Yea, it WAS a nightmare, had to scroll thru it way too often to get the stuff out the containers into the controllers.
Now i have like 3 Containers: for weapons, armor and input for recycler; everything else was replaced with controllers.
(must be like 18 of em now, and all of em maxed out because if you do it, do it all the way ;P)

But it looked so cool to have a wall of containers, so i had to share the image ;P

Those are pretty darn awesome, and I enjoyed the video of you using a ship to take out the Dreadnought. A guy on the Steam forums was ranting on about it being completely invincible, and your footage helped put that rumor to sleep.

The issue I have is many of the ships on the workshop >look< awesome, but trade aesthetics for utility. I was able to build a pretty crap looking CV for relatively cheap that worked "better" than many of the starter CVs, but was borderline painful to fly around as it looked like it was pieced together from a mix of duplo blocks and legos by my 4 year old.

    Same here. Now I have:

    1 for resources (constructor input)
    1 for production (constructor output)
    1 for guns
    1 for food
    1 for medical supplies
    2 for general use

    And that's it.

I´m a hoarder. I couldn´t live without the whole list in the F4 menu filled up until the scroll bar appears. Shudders

Anyway. One of the things that really annoys me about EGS is that now with the galaxy at hand it just feels empty. Thus I´m working on a few POIs lately. Of course I'd appreciate feedback.

A civilian small shipyard. Could technically also be a loading station. The backside still feels a bit flat, same with the sides. Still need to do something with them.

    CreativeGame_2020-10-30_21-13-53.png

Rascallion Waypoint Station. Including Teleporter and for now only basic traders. Rascallion Ltd. being a civilian company.

    CreativeGame_2020-10-30_21-15-11.png

The Territory Control Tower. Basically just a planted flag with some defenses on it.

    CreativeGame_2020-10-30_21-15-51.png

And last but not least a small idea i had. Filling up the void between bigger POIs with some small ones like this Mech Refuelling Station.

Very nice work! I agree that the universe can feel empty at times, and I have liked seeing what I feel is more and more POIs being added.

One thing I wish they would add would be more "cities" set up somewhat like the legacy homeworld. Perhaps it just being a surface texture being added and then plopping the POIs on top of it to make them feel more connected.

Death is a learning experience. What kills you makes you smarter. Years ago, suicide was a survival tool on the CP. I guess some found it distasteful and had it removed. But, hey...you're back from the grave and just in time for Halloween!
