I made a Special Scenario , it lasts only for one day - which is nothing special but has a custom valentines day aim reticle. For detail on that read the thread. https://empyriononline.com/threads/crosshair.97122/
@jadefalcon I really like your BA architecture. It makes me want to build something less utilitarian. I made it far enough in my new Survival playthrough to require a CV . I liked the CV I used last playthrough but it was a poor T2 CV and was only really practical at T3 so I decided to start from scratch this time. The 1st time I started with a boxy carrier type CV and while it's practical and has everything I thought I'd need it was a bit expensive and aesthetically I was disappointed with it. I did a poor job of dressing up the boxyness and I really dislike how the front/bridge turned out. I finished it but moved on to another design. The 2nd design is an improvement in several areas. It's much better looking imo and the cannon turrets have better firing arcs. Plus it's cheaper and on the lower end of size class 2. It's a bit lacking in internal space. Only 1 full grow plot and space for either a gravity generator or off line protection (or you could sacrifice some hangar space). The bridge is way smaller, tiny really but the 1st person view is so much better. I've used the workshop to bring it into Survival now and I'm just working on reconfiguring the hangar area a bit and finding some way to disguise the landing gears on the inside. I've already survived several drone attacks and one minor encounter with an NPC CV.
Working on my next tutorial : how to use Blender to make terrains. This should make it easier to visualize at the design stage what the terrain will look like in game, instead of trying to guess elevations from a simple black and white drawing. Make a 3d model of the terrain: Make a render (with some material nodes magic) from the top view, orthographic camera : This can now be used as a stamp to generate the terrain in game : .
I've made my way out of Zirax space for now. I had a close encounter with a Skaar Raider but I've managed to make it to somewhere I believe will be relatively lucrative. A large "Alien" planet that's not only dotted with a large number of mineral deposits but also Abandoned POIs, some of which are new to me so that will be exciting to go through. Started work on a Station in creative to pair with this CV since it appears I'll be in this System for a while. Turning out better than my previous attempts if a bit simple. Also made a small defense satellite that I'm really happy with the looks of. Not sure what kind of Turrets it should be running though.
Need a little relaxation? It's showtime in the Lounge. The girls are very friendly. Rooms are on Level 2.
Do I build my base on a nub: a taller nub: or be a sane person and build it on flatter terrain: ? Right now I am leaning towards the nub...
Made a tutorial video, and made this. (Not the vertibird, that belongs to someone else.) The small bit in the middle of the pic is what I made. Get your own here https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2396973341
Today I was hunting a Periat in some far far gallaxy. That was an easy win, I destroyed its generators, which has litlle protection. Of course stubborn Periat did not want to surrender, so he brazenly spun around so I could not enter. But I am an old ass, so I know secrets, I relogged and the ship's spinning power was neutralized. I parked my cv on top of it and flew outside to loot precious boxes and turrets from Periat. As soon as I left my CV I was killed by the rocket from Imirat, which was at 20km away, but in a second appeared right in front of me from subspace to aid the Periat. Damned Zyrax use forbidden short-range jumps I thought. There was a lot of epic weaponry in my backpack, but it was obvious that it is very risky to try taking it back under the Imirat's missile storm. So I decided to kill Imirat first and come back afterwards, as the backpack's despawn time is pretty high in RE. So I respawned in my CV, and started the battle. Pitifully the battle was a baby beating, and I was that baby. Everyone knows the Imirat has a frightening aura, which debuffs the speed of rival CV to under 10m/s and increases its power usage to 300%. That was a real humiliation. I was just sitting there and watching Imirat spinning around me like satellite and listening to the damage alarm of my overloaded generators. After losing half of my CV, I finally managed to take out Imirat's generators. But that was not a time to celebrate, as I had to take back my lost stuff! So I cored the Imirat, opened a map to find the Periat, because my backpack was right at its doors. And you know what? Periat was wandering in another corner of the map! Cunning Zirax towed the Periat while I was fighting the Imirat! Bastards! My poor loot.. Lost in the vastness of space... After several tries to find my loot, I lost all hope and decided to come back to Imirat and loot it. After arrival I find out that the Imirat is gone! Freaking Zirax, they play unfair games with me, towing one ship after another right under my nose! What to say, Zirax beat me today, I have too primitive technology compared to them. in the meantime, I need to lick my wounds, maybe tomorrow I'll be more lucky.
@jadefalcon Thanks, that's impressive work. Much better that I can walk all around and check it out now. @Fractalite Build your defense tower on the nub I spawned the Station for my CV into Survival and I've been making it my hub for collecting resources in the system. I've run quiet a few abandoned POIs on the alien planet. Already made a few modifications after playing with it a bit. I'm pretty happy I was able to get my gantry to line up.
Yeah, I really should have built it on the nub... but then I got it into my head that I should build it in the middle of the thickest part of the jungle for the challenge... which actually turned out pretty sweet because I discovered that the jungle is chalk full of golems and golems are just so wonderful. Golems are like giant pinata goodie bags. The problem came when I realized that the location I had chosen, though near water, was very far away from everything and anything else. So, gonna restart and do a ice dwarf start. @ravien_ff is as sexy as ever: Think I will add these to the epic screenshot gallery as well....
Today in Empyrion I was incredibly indecisive and decide to restart yet again and do a dead planet 2 start... Has been pretty epic!
