Relatable! My default course, unless I intervene, is to play the heck out of a game until I lose all desire to play it. Then I pick another game to play the heck out of until I get bored of that. Rinse and repeat. I really need to learn some moderation myself. Giving advice is easy. Following it myself is hard The description you gave sounds like a beast of a ship! Quite curious to see what you come up with that fits these requirements.
Friend of mine requested Lando Calrissian's personal ship, the "Lady Luck, a SoroSuub Luxury Yacht 3000. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2957707616

Attempted to build a base the used the full dimensions of the craters on desert planets - the ones with water filling them. Disappointingly we dont seem to be able to place a base starter in the centre and have four bridges extending to each side - too far from structure...
Made two new SVs, though I'm not sure what to do with them yet. One is too big to be used on any of my current CVs, and the other is probably too small to be any good against POIs. But they kinda look cool, so that's all that matters. Did some more exploring in RE Survival and on a Dead planet, found what seemed like a CV that was spawned as SV size, due to the teeny tiny little farm plots and the 1/3(?) scale food processor. I assume this was a spaceship for gnomes. Found some outposts, took some screenshots, the usual. Also realized that Hell planets have Drone Harvesters, which yield Salvaged Drone Swarm Processors, which I can use to build Auxilary Cores and increase the overall power of my ship. So far I've beat up about a dozen Harvesters and took their loot, which yielded 81 processors so far, including a fair bit of other loot, including a decent amount of Platinum Ore. I need 100 processors per Aux Core, so hopefully I can get one per Hell planet that I find. Started with 4x Laser Repeaters for anti-shield, 4x Rocket Launchers for anti-block, and 4x Plasma Cannons as kind of a catch-all / backup weapon. Ultimately I used very little of the Plasma Cannons, so I've swapped those out for 4x Railguns. I plan to use the Lasers to drop the shield, Railgun to open a hole in the armor, and then launch rockets in through the hole to (hopefully) destroy the core. Since the ship I've been using, the Bandicoot, doesn't have much downthrust, I have to keep flying forward to maintain altitude, which makes the whole thing a bit more interesting, as I have to make multiple flyby passes and try to nail the same spot on the POIs without getting shredded by turrets. Started getting better at it after killing a few, and I figure the more I destroy, the better I will get at it. I also generally have to leave the minigun turrets on during this so they can take out any Overseers hanging out on the ground, who tend to eviscerate shields and players. SV Bandicoot, missing a few blocks on the front after the last assault, but otherwise ready to kill some Harvesters It's actually ended up being a good resource and time sink, and gives something to work towards for the meantime.
I made Embrace a bit ago: I wanted to make a meaner sister ship and came up with the beginnings of Dark Scavenger: I am fairly certain the front is done, but I cannot get its ass to look right. Very frustrating.
I think I just figured out part of my problem - the wing things are too wide. It is making things difficult to balance: I really wanted to forcefields for effect, but those may have to go too. Boo.
Knocked over another planets worth of Harvesters, now up to 227 salvaged drone swarm processors. Switching the Plasma to Railgun was a very good choice: I can usually take out the shields with Lasers, then if I am aimed and lined up correctly, one shot from the 4x Railguns will disable the POI. Other times I have to make 4-5 passes before I can hit the core. But usually, after the shield is down, I can open a hole with the Railguns, then a volley of rockets to kill the core. Turns out the hard part of making aux cores might be finding enough silver. In-game empyropedia suggests that they only on specific planets and moons in hostile (Zirax, Drone Swarm, Kriel) territory. Only having it appear in hostile territories feels extremely contrived, but oh well. Also noticed that some specific items cannot be put through the deconstructor. Nor, it seems, are they really intended to be used on player ships (due to difficulty in acquiring ammo). Nor is their resale value very high (and I couldn't find any vendors that buy them to start with). What am I supposed to do with these Imperial Laser (/Plasma/etc) Turrets? Also rather annoyed that I cannot break down plates into ingots, (in this specific case, Sathium) so I can use it for Railgun ammo. Would be cool if there were a vendor that I could sell the plates to and buy ingots from. Maybe there is and I just haven't found it yet. But I have stacks and stacks and stacks of plates that I can't do anything with. This screenshot only shows a partial amount of them; the rest are stored on another bigger CV that's hanging out in the Beta system.
Salvage them? They have some Zascosium alloy. Agree it is annoying that the deconstrutor does not make ingots from plate, as far as Sathium plates, it's not ideal but you can make and sell warp drives and/or combat steel blocks? There are two dealers that buy the plates but they don't sell the ingot but there are others.
Is salvage the only choice? Kinda lame. Guess I need to attach them to something again so I can salvage them properly. Was hoping that a whole intact turret would have other options, or be worth more credits. I'm playing in RE, but where can I sell combat steel blocks? Is there a specific type of shipyard (I think I remember seeing an "Industrial Shipyard", I'll need to find it again) or something that buys them? I need to find the vendor that buys the plates too, since I hate trashing them, and my factory already has more than I'll ever need.
Ahah, I've definitely seen more than a few colonist scrapyards. Will have to make a few trips to every one I can find to sell off my stock. Thanks!
That's news to me, and I have played the game for a long time. Learn something new every day, I will try it out.
