    Playing 5.0....Got a good start on Akua...ran across two ship pieces and looted them and kept heading westward. I found the abandoned mine and set up shop nearby. Worked the wrecks and the abandoned mine and finally had a good SV. Went to space and found the trading hub....oooh let's go look...door after door and ooh pretty. Then I hear gunfire and booms...looked at my HUD. A plasma drone and the freighter were shooting the guts out of my NEW SV that had never fired a shot. They opened it up like an oyster. So I am on the trading station with no ride....I managed to scrap enough of my NEW SV to make a mini SV and go home. Once again always keep a spare in the factory...

    I'm trying to keep this private until I lose one of these in a PvP battle. Maybe after that happens I'll release it, as it's hard to keep the core location secret now as the turrets target it instead of center of ship. I still want to make a few minor changes like adding a landing leg (yes it will stand upright on planet as is) with an elevator coming down from the bottom and add a little accent plating to the back first.

    You know, today I realised that I'm a really efficient player these days, I do enough for my current in-game goals and no more. The reason I think this? Well, I started a new Hard SP game today, but with levelling rate set to Normal, as I'd been struggling a little in my MP 5.0 game on Slow levelling. Anyway, once again, I've established a decent base, well equipped (farm, storage etc.) and am ramping up for my next project - my first SV.

    However, one thing, and one thing alone, is stopping me doing what I want - my characters level, with it inability to unlock the tech I want....yet. In my early Empyrion days, even as recent as 4.0's release, I'd be running around doing 101 things and not focusing on one activity for an extended period. As a result I seemed to hit level 20 (still on Slow levelling) before I'd gathered even close to the materials I needed for the high-end stuff I'd unlocked.

    With the recent update, it seems that lots of activities - ones I do during my game start up - simply do not yield the XP they once did, if any at all. Mining, which I do just enough of at the start, gives very little now. Building gives some, but my fairly small build - yet which does all I need - doesn't earn me much. Taking over and recycling POI's is giving me NOTHING currently, no experience earnt for shooting the POI's with hand weapons (I have no vessel yet) nor do I get anything for recycling it once it's mine.

    Now, if I go out and force myself to shoot critters - I need neither the meat nor the hassle to be honest - I'd level up in no time. Before I got the hang of farming, I'd often hunt for my supper, earning lots of XP. Now, I generally manage to get a farm up fairly early, which suffices for my food needs.

    Right at this minute, I'm wanting to start on my first SV to explore the planet a little more. Luck of the seed has seen me spawn very near a couple of hostile POI's, getting past them is...challenging, or it's a long, boring slog bypassing them walking under water. I need an SV, but I'm still only level 6! A quick murder spree of the local wildlife will rectify my XP shortfall in no time, but that's not natural (for me) gameplay progression.

    I know the current tech-tree is a placeholder, I hope we get some sort of "research" option in the future, though I think all basic terran techs should be resource-limited, rather than "you've not shot enough Slimes" limited :) Does anyone have any inkling what the devs might have in store for the tech tree? I understand much earlier game versions (before my time) had something quite different.

    Edit: Well I just used a slight exploit to level up quickly - it's an issue I reported some time back, but it's not fixed yet. Here's how you do it: Find a Critter, any Critter as long as they're at "moonwalking" distance. I.e. they're animating, but not moving across the landscape. Next, shoot them with a gun, the basic Assault Rifle has ample range, you will hit them, gain XP, but THEY WILL NOT DIE, until that is you move closer. Very easy way to farm XP if you have the ammo. I gain four levels in three AR Clips worth of ammo...

    I got a little bit more done my Mining Outpost. I've been slacking off the past few days. The build is mostly done now although I'm thinking of reworking a couple things. Got some new ideas I want to try out. Mostly it's just texture and paint now which I don't have much enthusiasm for at the moment. Might have more if there were more options. The ones we have are....lacking.

    I am a proud Single player but I think the DEVs should promote multiplayer communities like this one. I don't think enough gamers know about the really cool Empyrion multiplayer communities . These HWS guys are awesome, look at this 5.0 trailer for their multiplayer server.

    I love the fact that most containers have loot in them now; I really do not want the developers to change this... but I still find this hilarious:

    Good thing this research outpost keeps their WC sinks so well stocked! I mean, it even has a hangar!

    I stopped watching about 2 minutes in. The abrupt music cuts and terrible, jerky panning... ugh. But to be fair, I've been doing game machinima for years so my standards might be a fair bit higher than most.

    yep I kill just one for the quest and after that slimer is safe as houses. Now those grey raptors? kill them all and spiders...we need a flamethrower

    I like Slimes too... as easy food. :p

    I have before wondered if they could make interesting Pets at times though... & I still think it'd be fun to ride Raptors & Triceratops. :D

    I started a new survival game. 4.4.x, I won't be able to download the 5.0 for a few days at least. We'll see. I read somewhere that spiders seem to have gotten tougher, and that makes me very hesitant to touch it. They ALREADY force me to pause and walk away when they're ganging up on me and they're all over me... *shudder*


    Anyway. Most settings on hard except enemy difficulty and constructor speed (normal), Akua start... because it's prettier. I found an unusual seed apparently, I got out of the escape pod having found nothing. I spent the entire Akua day foraging and finding nothing, no resources, no POI. Finally, nightfall came and I started playing cat and mouse with drones. Found cobalt... copper...

    More cobalt.... MORE copper... silicone. Where's all the dang iron and prometheum? I finally found it all on the far side of the freaking planet across the lake from the drone base, was running desperately low on bullets when I finally got my hands on the makings for the rifle and ammo.

    Spotted a beautiful spot for my base, of course that's now on the far side of the planet...

    Checking out the new update. Lots of good changes and I see a lot of new blueprints added to the game from some of y'all. Awesome!

    I'm going to have to rethink my Ogre Mining Hulk now in light of the changes. All that time spent putting it together and the patch kind of obsoleted a couple of my designs. /grumble

    Also, I uh, seem to have lost the Ogre Mining Hulk from my blueprint list somehow. :eek:

    I mean I have a backup but....no idea what happened there.

    In WC & bathroom we could only find rotten food, seed & nutrient solution ;)

    It will be great if (when) Devs separate generated loot in objects/containers on basis of placement and usage, so in ‘kitchen objects’ we could find food, water, seeds, in ‘medical objects’ drugs, pills and medicinal shots, in ‘tech objects’ some of advanced stuff & tools, batteries and power packs … in rarer special colored warehouse containers should be engines, space ship parts, weapons - and in standard (most numerous) plain blue warehouse containers will be just device components, lights, biofuel, etc.

    With all this new settlements, villages, buildings & POIs this type of ‘special selection’ loot will be great for better player immersion in single (or co-op) player PvE survival game. I also don’t think it will be complicated for implementation, or time consuming for Devs :)

    Got carried away with my first mining HV. Dug too far down and got stuck. I could not get out! I was wayyyyyyy down in that hole.

    It was multi tool time!

    Took the HV miner apart, and put it into the Factory :)

    Created a new SV a few days ago in response to the new Hard Mode survival planet - which I have played through several times and may never play the game another way again. The thing is, while I did pop it into creative and polished it into a mostly publishable state... it is kinda monotone. Any ideas as to how on earth to spice it up, or should I leave the tri-color earthy tones. I kind of like it right now, but it is tough to say.
