I had a fun day of building but now Im just angry. Its nice that people use your blueprints and even modify them for their own needs - but when you find one in Workshop without asking you and NO credit to the original, thats just wrong. Well, even that I can understand - but when you politely ask that could you please reference the original, the reply is that HE got the inspiration from a random sci-fi image - and links it to me WTF? Clearly no intention to credit the original work at all and just stealing my design - right to my face. Question is, is there anything I can do about it? Stolen design is 99% original with just few added cargo boxes.
Maybe you could talk to one of the devs or Mods on this forum about it ? This isn't the first time this has happen.
I think I know which one you are talking about and I commented on it; report it to Hummel - send him a conversation about it(options, upper right part of screen.)
Introducing, Mjolnir. A level 10, 6k iron, tough little survival CV. Has a hangar that can fit your mining HV and the landing pad for a smallish SV is on top. If you balk at the 2k silicon requirement, just take a multi-tool to one of the CIV POI's - their windows will provide you all the silicon you would/will ever need. Fully 6.0 compatible; the ship is completely fitted with signal logic and switches to control all the vital functions - lights, engines, turrets, etc. The engines, warpdrive, and others are roped off for convenience. If you need your constructors right side up, Mjolnir is probably not for you. Is named after the Norse God Thors hammer as it looks like a small hammer when you peer down at it. Holy **** Rainy! I commented on that dudes modifying of your cargo carrier SV before you and he deleted my comments! I am going to start a three way convo with Hummel for you.
Funnily enough about building using other people's designs. My Wyvern and Raven builds were based off of ships from SE and they had to be built from scratch on a different game and yet I still went out of my way to give the original authors credit for their Designs.
Ahhh Saturday building rampages... While my CV is still largely empty, large sections are coming together nicely I think. I'm trying to get away from the industrial, components-sticking-out-everywhere, unrefined look. So after a lot of experimentation I went bananas with a new atheistic theme. I'm not used to building finished areas at this stage - and I'm having to do a lot of backtracking - but when I leave an area it's at least painted and textured enough I know it's look and if there's a few patches missing I'll fix it on a polish stage. Also, having a bridge now means more than just a room with a cockpit and maybe a window. With triggers, it also means having lots of levers to control stuff on your ship - so much more convenient than sifting through the control panel! So that was one of the first areas I tackled once I got the stylistic theme down. I ended up tearing up my mess hall I made earlier while redesigning corridors. In the process though, I ended up creating adjacent space that worked beautifully as a kitchen. I then dressed up the Hangar Control since it would have a lot in common with the bridge. Then I jumped across the hangar to refit my lounge, better than ever. Came up with a gym, to full the space the kitchen took up on the opposite side... I think that rounds out the main public crew facilities. I think I've been building and texturing for about seven hours straight now. I need to do something else for a while...
... and now he deleted my posts too and I can't comment anymore. Wow. Looking real good! Looks like you found your groove for interior decoration again Yeah, texturing and painting is painfully s - l - o - w. But I think its worth it in the end, it makes the builds truly unique.
Mopping up POI's in my first v6 game. I set this up to tenderize the abandoned mine while I go off to deal with the drone base personally:
Nooo, Abandoned Mine is one of the few actually fair & fun POI's even with the currently choice of enemies. I would have done that to the Drone Base and tackled the mine personally.
You're point is well taken. The Abandoned Mine has been around long enough to become a polished and nicely balanced dungeon crawl. OTOH, at over 1300 hours in the game I've come to regard it as a resource to be harvested in the shortest possible time. I'm now more anxious to get to other planets and there be killed while assaulting the new POI's the old fashioned way ("I had no idea I'd need so much ammo!").
So I built Mjolnir in an attempt to get myself a nice little inexpensive yet very functional capital ship for survival - the sample vessels in game are not quite right, and most workshop contributors build humongous extremely expensive ships. Anything above 6 - 12k Iron ore is just not very much fun for survival and even then, the comfy amount is more on the 6k side of things. Mjolnir is an excellent ship, so I thought, maybe others have done something similar? So I caste about for a few smaller CV's in the workshop to see if I could use the console and some trimming to get them to where I am comfortable. Eon is a few months old, but is a gorgeous design. So I used the replaceblocks command and a few tweaks here and there and got it down to 6.5k - which is perfect. Similar to the Mjolnir I will say; if you balk at the amount of silicon this requires, just take a multi-tool to a few CIV POI's and poof! All the silicon you will ever need from the windows. Link to the original design and many thanks for such a sexy ship: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=724829174 Link to the update(if anyone wants it): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=907072019
Oh ****... scratch that... I used the wrong console command... damnit. 18k. *sigh* Ah well, guess I gots to make my own.
Working on my next Capital Vessel Project. It's no where near finished. I'm still painting and texting but this sun rise looked so EPIC in the background that I had to take a picture. this game is just beautiful.
Fun, easy way of taking everything from the Abandoned mine - supposing you want to just be finished with Akua. Do not open the spoiler if you want the mine to remain a mystery! Spoiler: Core location Your attempt was/is hilarious and inspired sir, so my bet is you already knew this, but just in case, if you get yourself a crummy level 10 SV armed with 4x rocket launchers like so: The core is under: The center block under where the radar is located. Takes about, 15 - 20 shots, very ish. You get the idea. Makes things a lot easier if you want to just mop up Akua and move onto freighters and harder buildings on other planets. Always remember that alien blocks are multi-toolable and yield the same thing as combat steel blocks!(this way you can ignore the hardened steel on the rest of the place) Enjoy!
Both my HPOD's and the modified Arrowheads were designed as survival builds. Multiple ships / levels to choose from, links are in my signature. But they are pretty plain looking.
You can't really say someone stole something you gave up all rights to freely when uploading it to the Web. I don't upload anything I don't want used by others in any way they want including copying it or taking credit for it. Take it as a compliment and move on. Lesson learned.
