@vicomt You guys have your work cut out for you. I'm kind of avoiding the task of updating my stuff for 6.0. You could call the space station a way of procrastinating that particular job. I'm really having fun with the station though and wanted to share the build process. If it inspires others so much the better. I'm a little dismayed at the amount of work ahead of me building those new pylons outside the ship but in my heart I knew the cargo pods just weren't a good fit. The biggest frustration is having to redo the work on the other side because I can't build in two planes at once. I don't even know if they're going to work out yet. Edit: I'm feeling a little better about the changes. I wasn't sure it was going to work out at first but it's starting to take shape. It's still a complete pain in the arse because I'm working on a diagonal and it's off center by a couple blocks(should've fixed that the moment I noticed it) but I can hide it within the structure somewhat effectively. Looks good! The other side should go a lot smoother. I broke size class 100. 144 fuel tanks so far. Filled up two of the spherical tanks. I say filled but they have an inner wall and the tanks are spaced apart so they're only like half full really. Four spheres of fuel, four of oxygen. That should be enough ya think?
I hear you on the multi-planar builds, we're lucky we have two of us, so it can be done a little quicker, but still, tedious. And yeah, when you know something's got to change, it's always hard to look at it in the face and get on with it. Spoiler: This is our form of procrastination.... That's the rear of the CV manifest. complete with control room
I started updating my small fleet for 6.0 and decided on a slightly different way of choosing the first ship to update. I went to Google and searched for "empyrion robot shark" to see which ship was the first one in the search results. I figured that would be my most popular one, and I would upgrade it first. I did the search, and the first ship that came up was the Cube. REALLY? I published 56 items and the blasted CUBE is the top result when I Google my workshop? That unimaginative box is my top search result? <sigh> Well, it has been updated for 6.0 now.
I'm starting to really love Ningues . It's really a planet for seasoned players now. If you're a beginner stay away from this planet. This is like the 3rd time I've watched a PV do this to my little hide out base. l will build some type of defense sooner or later as for right now back to hiding out at the Trade station. For some reason I find this very entertaining. lol
Ningues has been a favorite of mine since my first visit many builds ago. The long valleys and gentle slopes made it a fun place to use an HV. I've not been back since the v6 builds began. I've finally built a full suite of Alpha 6 vehicles and I'm looking forward to my next visit.
Yup, loving Ningues too. Good challenge and awesome to 'glide' using jetpack because of the low gravity.
I had so much fun today In the morning, I just finished expanding the garden in the base when our "quick & dirty" CV was ready. My T2 drill was almost worn out completely from digging out our base, mining, etc. Anyways, I decided this mining tour was a good way to see the drill off to tool Heaven. First, we went to Aitis and my husband had a mining accident with the HV and had to leave it behind. Funny thing with that vessel... First there was a tiny CV that was painted pink, so I called it the Barbie Ship. During the experimental phase, we took the Barbie Ship to Aitis and while we were mining, we were swarmed by enemies and one knocked the ship over on its side. We couldn't get back in it and died many times, then had to bail out and leave Barbie behind. So then my husband built a new CV to bring an HV for mining on Aitis. The vessel was named Ken's Revenge, and the HV is Ken's Driller. And this visit to Aitis was the end of Ken and Barbie's misadventures. Anyhow, my drill was hanging on well and was around 30% condition. I wanted to push it until it broke, so we ended up gouging a massive hole in a hillside! The drill enjoyed its last moments and I mined a ridiculous amount of zascosium. This afternoon we enjoyed a group assault on the Fortress, with its door switches. Nothing like trying to keep the door open and hearing your friends die Well, I enjoyed destroying that annoying switch with my multitool!
I'd just like mention how refreshing it is to be working on a base and not be hampered by structural integrity. Definitely going to be building more space stations in the future although not quite so big.
We also finished a thing.... A smallish base for your hunting & raiding pleasure. Moelwic We'd mostly finished it before we started Sleipnir, but that became our obsession, and the work on the bases stopped, now we're getting back going on them, the next in line's getting a little... bigger
Has anyone who plays single player noticed that the game acts if it continues when you log out now? There has been times when I am playing single player and when I exit the game there will be no NPCs around then when I log back into the game there will be a PV hovering over my base . It's weird.
Finishing my CV. I'm trying to give it the feel of a living ship. Still not happy with the nose. At present most of the blocks tend toward the angular. Otherwise, a couple of signs., a guest cabin and a lounge. And yes, I spent years in the U. S. Navy.
smallish base..... pffffttttt..... that's a smallish base: (had anything 5.5 related in, even the starter-growing plots ;-) sadly it'n not working in 6.0 anymore. you guys have some serious problems with bigness, huh?! (haha, only joking, that's a fine BIG base you have! ... now downloading...) btw, I'm nearly finishing my SMALL Base-CV... really trying to be small, you know, the "other small"... ;-)
