Oh hell, I forgot the ammo box. I've NEVER done that before... (yeah right)

 

Well, the CV Tortoise miner has been updated to 6.1 and I added the floodlights, I think they work quite well.
Pity the CV mining turret does not work on planets, but I think the companion HV has a good range.

 

I'd say, you can safely exchange one RCS for an ammo box

 

Are there any plans to make the CV mining turrets eventually work on planets? I haven't mined with a CV mining turret in quite a while, but I remember it being not nearly as good as HV fixed drill mining. It doesn't seem like it would be any kind of cheat to me. What 's up with that anyway? What's going on in multiplayer that we don't get to do CV mining on planets?

 

@68plex You have to use HV turrets. For example @Fluffy and @rucky have made cool combinations of CV + docked HV with mining turret.

How does this work at all? You drive over the deposit with your CV, go out of the cockpit, hop in the HV, activate the turret and then you can dig your ore, right? Whats the advantage over directly drive by with the HV, park it, jump in the turret and dig?
(btw, you dont earn XP by digging with the HV drills either.)

 

MP adventures continue. Taking out the Akua Drone base - in a super heavy HV. Was really cool! I love HV's but I haven't done anything like that can take out a POI just like that.

Work on the rocket style CV continues. I really don't know about this. Other half of me wants to see where this goes - the other (sane?) part tells me to dump it and use the time & resources on something more sensible

 

HVs are sometimes trickier to maneuver in and out.

With my CV, I drive exactly over the Hole/Deposit and hover, jump out of the Seat, directly ontop of the HV (it's docked directly under the CV with a Door/Ramp connected), choose the first Turret and mine. When finished (mostly half side is mined, I change into the next Turret, and go on with mining, no need to reposition the CV ;-)
When finished mostly if not all ore in range below is mined (only at really big deposits (12000+++) you have to use the other two Turrets to get the rest.)

Then jump out of the HV, look up, you see the CV-Seat, jump in, and hover a bit down, the Hole is big enough (see pic I posted earlier),
and rinse and repeat.
Fully mined 8000+ Deposit in three passes ;-)
I bet this is way way faster than standard HV-Mining ;-)
And I like to fully deplete ore deposits.
100% to 0%.

We had a lot of fun visiting the Drone Base last night--although there was barely any loot to be had there. I took combat pictures because I'm not used to being assigned turret duty I have a little picture spam but I hope you'll enjoy them.









Inside the Drone Base was very fun but I don't take pictures during a gunfight at least. I just get into trouble chatting and using my drone to explore absently, then have a total failure to react quickly to getting shot in the face. Thank goodness for wonderful teammates and Heavy Armor. lol

 

that's a massive ship with lot's of thrusters you had there ;-)

 

Ah - wait! the CV is hoovering all the time? not sitting on earth? Isnt this costly?
But i can see its comfortable this way; at least for bis deposits. I still doubt the small depositts with 300 or 500 ores are worth the efford. Can i find your baby on the workshop? I would reaaly like to learn how you have done this.

The Docking of the HV is a bit tricky, be sure to read the HowTo and look at the Pics ;-)
(but you only have to do that once ;-)

 

Yeah, really tiny CVs are pretty fuel efficient

 

And you know, I like tiny things ;-)

 

Something to use instead of the bike. Easily obtainable starter HV, unlock lvl 3 Open & closed cockpit variants.

@rainyday I was really impressed with your shots--especially the Troop Transport on the Zirax About the rocket CV, it's such a great experiment. I know time is a limited resource, but on the other hand, I tend to be a big supporter of insanity.
