Hilarious collision story. In one of my earliest EGS games I managed to reach the point where I could spawn a CV. BP finished, I walked to a wide open meadow behind my base and left clicked when the red bounding box turned blue about 7 meters above the ground. There it was! And down it came and then bounced around like a demented pogo stick. So of course I spent at least fifteen minutes trying to catch it before I gave up and loaded a save.

Ahh yes, I remember those days when the CV Bounding Box, & Ground Voxels & Base CV Landing Pads alike were Mortal Enemies. :D

That was also when riding the motorcycle would occasionally result in being catapulted far into space. Those bugs added an element of slapstick comedy that I missed when they squashed them.

I recently tried designing a base blueprint. Concrete pyramid, size 2, 3 levels, with a flat top for a couple of turrets and maybe landing a SV. For the first iteration I was just going to stop with the structure, windows, and doors. Apparently, some errant click-drag left me with a 2 or 3 block pillar sticking out of the underside on one corner. So, when I spawned it in survival, the bounding box looked perfectly well-grounded but it turned out to be perched on that pillar, and immediately collapsed when I tried to fix it. All those resources wasted, very sad, much ragequit.

I would use spawnanyblueprint (or sbp) in the console to spawn it again. The bounding box is not very accurate when placing bases.

I've had that happen before. One of the last things I do now is check the underside for any surprises.

That is, when I remember. :p:rolleyes::oops:

Never fear ! for there is still a bug when using godmode that will sometimes shoot you up into orbit at what can only be described as a speed close to warp 9 XD
    Then the game crashes ;D

    More like ludicrous speed :D

But you can stop it from crashing by getting out of god mode. And then just teleport yourself back.

I did that ! ended up stuck somewhere in space with a large blue mass slowly filling the screen, teleport refused to move me, i logged out and was unale to log back in, i rebooted the dedi twice i could still not get back in, eventually it let me back in after waiting some 5 minutes on the loading screen.

At which point i was then back in space with a large blue mass filling my screen !
but then the teleport command worked and everything was normal again.

Was a unique experience to say the least

If you are on a dedi server, it is worth noting that sometimes we get a sort of lag spike that prevents the use of F and the P key.
After a minute or 2 it usually catches up and a spam of F and P attempts will kick in.

This may be caused by bad connection your side also, though most likely its the server, if you are connected to one.

The use of the turrets is not very intuitive in emp atm.
Though I am sure that will improve with time, when the select few who eleon pay attention to decide to bring it up^-^

    WARNING:
If you place this build inside a base, you may run into the problem of it falling through the floor once the playfield has rebooted.
I guess you could dock it if u tweaked it... let me know if you workaround this issue ^-^

It was actually for this reason that I did not upload it to workshop sooner.

Now I'm compelled to spend time in godmode until I catch that ride. :D I haven't made much use of it since early days bugs made it necessary at times.

I finished up the new expedition base, Space Cats Retreat (now in my workshop).

I designed this base for our expedition to Oscutune--I think we'll depart in a couple of hours! I've never been there before, and I think it's fantastic that I've played almost 700 hours and haven't seen half of the planets in the solar system.

Believe me when I say @Frigidman especially has given the Devs several earfuls on this matter. It's a matter of when the Devs manage to work their way to getting it attended to. :p

    Picture spam inbound!

Another crazy trip. Let's go to Oscutune, I said. Nice beaches and weather, I said. Some relaxation after Aitis. Sure. :p It turned out to be something else...

    20170704232028_1.jpg
Leaving Ningues behind. We have plenty of pentaxid so we took three CV's.... Kivutar, UMS and Ilmatar.

    20170705000433_1.jpg
    ...warping!

    20170705004626_1.jpg
Okay, this looks peaceful - but this is where things started to go wrong. I got ditched from my CV (kicked out of the game, came back mid air not in the CV...) and was stranded on a small island. No worries, sun is shining, water is warm - help on the way.

Well, that serene scene turned into this:
    20170705005311_1.jpg
So. The CV in mid air, I saw it was going down slowly on an angle, good. I can get into it easier in the ground than mid air. Wait, whats that there? My CV is heading straight into it... its a base... ITS THE DRONE BASE!:eek::eek: Battle ensued with the lightweight scout against drone base, millions of drones (atleast), zirax, troop transports etc. etc. you name it - they were all there. We were seriously outgunned so I stayed back while Timo was getting a proper combat SV, but the damage was already done...

    20170705010643_1.jpg
It was probably scariest 5 mins ever - stranded on a broken down CV, 100m from the drone base, troop transport had just dropped Alien Overseers and I had lost all my guns earlier... well, help was on its way. Again.

    20170705011129_1.jpg
Nice view to the drone base, luckily the base guns were disabled at this point... they had no interest in my CV after destroying the core.

    20170705011826_1.jpg
New core and CV came alive - heading back home and safety. My mining HV that was in the back took some serious damage too. Not from the drone base but I suppose due to the fact that CV had lost the core and I didn't check the docking. As I moved CV started shaking violently and flew out with explosions - HV all banged up left behind

    20170705014245_1.jpg
Home. Our new expedition base was set up - done by @Starwing6 - and I have to say....

    20170705014520_1.jpg
... location was spot on - view is quite nice :) So this was good place for me to end this game session - and next time, there will be some serious repairing that needs to happen :D

Bugs can be very annoying - we had those kinds too - but sometimes, if you're lucky, they just initiate a sequence of actions that leads to very memorable moments. Like this time. And I'm not saying bugs are good either - but I'm not too bothered that my CV and HV took some serious damage because of them. It's just all part of the experience. :D

You can specify Blueprint Ground Offset or Blueprint Flatten ground by double right-clicking on your BP in the library. Those options prep the ground when you spawn a base. They can be very helpful.

I cleaned up my old saves today made during 6.0 experimental. Made sure everything was blueprinted before abandoning them. I haven't deleted them yet in case I missed anything but I've moved my workspace to a new saved game. Hopefully that will fix the issues I was having with structural integrity. Set up a work area for phase 2 construction of my colony buildings and spent some time browsing the workshop. I noticed one of the items had the Nexus spaceport in the background :D of their screenshot which has spurred me into resuming work on the space station.

    So. much. texturing.

Fun fact: It takes about 5000 fusion cells to fill the tanks. Lasts a good long while though.

I realized in a similar manner that there are 2 sides at this "bury the core" coin : better protection means lots of damages due to enemy persistence, but if the core is relatively easy to get then much easier to get back up and running after battle. I left my CV "unattended" on a beach with no sign of hostiles anywhere around. I forgot to "re-arm" mu turrets before leaving, and upon return I saw a huge hole in the side of the CV. I could literally "recreate ballistics" and find from where the drones fired since there was a direct line to the core deep inside. Now in PvE I see there is no real need to hide the core too deep because if I can't get out of a fight in a reasonable time or get "trapped" in a situation like yours here, I prefer the core to get hit fast and concentrate my energies in a little SV than worrying about extended damage to my CV while unable to intervene.
